      I think you did a pretty darn good job on outlining the options out there & I agree with your selections. Unfortunately these aren't in my range of builds. I only build aircraft that saw military service in the preparation for or in active military service during a conflict from 1930 to 1980.

    First rate!! Great that the Airfix starter kit actually rates so well. I would translate that into being most likely to actually be completed, which is great for a starter kit.
    Terrific comparison. Note: Right channel sound was screwed up.

    Excellent video, thanks. I'm glad you call out the presence or absence of a pilot figure; as someone who prefers to build "in flight", I get tired of having to chase down after-market pilots. And while stands are not as important (I tend to make my own), it would be nice if reviews could call out things like open and closed gear and weapons bay doors, too.

    Thank you for an excellent video. Going into this, I was leaning towards the Italeri/Tamiya F-35b. At video’s end I shifted strongly towards the Academy B model. Saving me a few bucks, perhapsI should donate to this channel? I will watch you other videos and decide.

  • @modelheaven5471

    Excellent and comprehensive comparison, having built the Italeri F35B, I was disappointed and intended buying the Academy. This video only cements that.
    My only thoughts are that the Airfix starter set can't really be considered a proper F35B kit, anyone who builds it expecting a result to the same complexity as the others would be disappointed. But I get why you've included it.

    • @MannsModelMoments
      @MannsModelMoments  Год назад +1

      The Airfix kit is definitely aimed at a different segment, to be sure, but it's a great base for a good price and could easily be brought "up to standard" if someone wanted that sort of challenge. It certainly compares favourably for what it is, and it's ideal for new modellers where the other kits would probably overwhelm....the Hasegawa kits probably being ok but very expensive for a newcomer. I hope Airfix release the kit as a separate stand-alone model with an additional sprue or two to enhance the engine, include pylons, stores and maybe a better ejection seat. There is precedent for this sort of release with their Sherman Firefly, so let's see!

    I really liked this in depth and frankly quite interesting comparison. I noticed the far left audio until the last 15-20 seconds. Lol. Oh well! My only gripe is hearing decals pronounced as deckles. But I have a feeling that’s a regional thing as I’m not familiar with how most brits pronounce decals. Currently working on Italeri F-35...I notice a pattern that they get you to paint and detail parts that won't be seen IE the engine..just wastes a lot of time and paint/glue in my opinion. A good option however for those who want to display it as if it is having maintanence or something - to be honest I notice this pattern with a few warbirds.. I recently done the Revell Lancaster and that was the same, had me detailing parts that can not be seen when built as "ready to fly"

Part count deco sheet of the other kits is designed for a whole different audience. I.e. the novice starter. What’s the build something that’s not a Spitfire
