    I've tried thick, oil- free & gel moisturizer and all of them did not suit my skin. So frustrated bcs almost everyone said we need to use moisturizer but then i got tiny bumps, clogged pores everytime i use moisturizer. I decided to just use gel cleanser, physical scrub, & sunscreen, it works!! My skin is back to its normal range. Thanks dr!! Now i know not everyone needs moisturizer ☺️🇲🇾

    Myeah, my skin isn't compatible with any moisturizer, my skin is naturally oily, but not too bad, it's best left alone, i use a light sunscreen with Salicylic acid and works well, not everyone needs moisturizers, that's for sure, and i think it's actually really bad that so many articles and big youtube stars keeps preaching about how everyone needs it when it's not true, a moisturizer is a from of treatment for those who's skin needs that treatment.

    See - moisturizer is as overhyped as it is redundant. I have oily skin and i read everywhere that oily skin needs moisturizer which i never ever believed in. Thank you very much for this video. I find it very instructive and straight to the point. I have oily acne prone skin. My skin isn't dehydrated but many people insist so much that we all should use moisturizers no matter what that and it worries me it could exacerbate my oiliness and acne issue. This is much clear to me with your video.

      Im glad you appreciate this video.
      You can opt for products that contain ingredients like salicylic acid that can help unclog your pores and minimize oil production or benzoyl peroxide that is a keratolytic (accelerates skin turnover) and antimicrobial.
      And yes, in your case, using cream-based and “heavy” moisturizers can exacerbate oiliness and lead to breakout/acne.

    I am so frustrated/confused with all the skincare products out there. I recently decided to focus more on skincare and stopped using foundation ( I still use blush and that’s about it). A few years ago I started using “clean, green, natural skincare and beauty” this RUINED my skin!!! Using oils (jojoba, coconut, marula etc.) I developed closed comedones!! Or malezzia, not sure. I found a blog on this and started using a 5% urea moisturizer from the brand Malezia and it cleared it and O stay away now from all triggering ingredients like oils, esters, etc. The only oil I have used without issue is Plant derived Squalene from The Ordinary. I no longer want to use a moisturizer because the Malezia one is too expensive and there is no substitute like it without the triggering ingredients and want to simplify my routine now that I repaired my skin barrier and am not using makeup. I am planning on washing face with water and gently exfoliating at night with a muslin cloth. Using Squalene oil (2 drops in am and 7-10 at night) and the only spf my skin tolerates is a non nano zinc powder. What do you think?

Even these moisturisers made my skin textured, greasy and gives a lot of acne. After stop using this my skin becomes fine and smooth. I was so much confused that why everyone says that everyone needs moisturisers when It's a myth.

    Hi, I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a cleanser and a gel (only evening), but he told me to not use any moisturizer, because it would clog my pores. I've been doing that for a week now and my skin feels very very dry and is flakey. Is that part of the process and does my skin just have to get used to not get moisture? And should I use a sunscreen or will that clog my pores too?

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 года назад +2

      Moisturizers dont always clog your pores. They are meant to hydrate your skin and keep it from losing moisture to the environment. In your case if you are very dry and flaky, in my opinion, please use a moisturizer. Opt for one that contains ceramides and fatty acids. Just make sure you properly cleanse your skin with a gentle cleanser to prevent build up of dead skin cells and products.

      I would recommend emollients like ceramides, free fatty acids etc. they will help minimize the possible irritation that you may experience from using tretinoin.

      For oily and acne prone skin, ang nirerecommend ko usually are lightweight ones - gaya ng gel-based, water- based - at ung may mga ingredients na bagay sa oily, acne prone skin (eg. Salicylic acid etc). Ok naman ang aloe very and snail mucin kung sa tingin mo hiyang sila sa skin mo at may nakikita kang results.
      Meron akong video about this - best ingredients for oily skin. Sana panoorin mo, baka makatulong :)

      Hello!
      What is important is that you clean yourself thoroughly with a gentle cleanser - double cleanse in the evening (use micellar cleanser or balm cleanser before washing with your gentle cleanser).
      Exfoliation will also help prevent build up of dead skin cells, dirt and sebum which can contribute to breakouts.
      Moisturizers can be used by those with oily skin to reinforce the skins barrier protection but stick to light-weight and water or gel-based ones.

      Hello!
      While there is some truth in the statement na not everyone needs a moisturizer, may mga tao talaga who will greatly benefit from them because they are innately incapable of holding onto moisture in their skin - for example those with atopic dermatitis, xerosis etc.
      Also, moisturizers nowadays are not just meant to hydrate, they are also used as vehicles to deliver ingredients that our skin needs - those containing AHAs, BHA, antioxidants etc.
      So, in my opinion, everyone can benefit from using moisturizers provided they contain the right ingredients that their skin needs :)
      Thanks for subscribing :)

    My skincare teacher! I have a question po, so in this video you added po yung serum under the category of the moisturisers, does this mean that moisturisers and serums aren't meant to be two separate steps in our routine doc? ❤️🙏

    • @irenegaile
      @irenegaile  3 года назад +6

      Hello! Moisturizer kc is a term that describes products that: 1. Hydrate, 2. Draw moisture to the skin and 3. Keep moisture in the skin. And it can come on a lot of forms depending on the ingredient- serums, essences, creams or oils.
      For example:
      A hyaluronic acid serum is a moisturizer
      A vitamin c serum is not

      Maria Vanesa Quinones hello! Maraming positive properties ang aloe vera sa balat. It is soothing and has some antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properites. Sa palagay ko, as long as hindi ka allergic dito at malinis at maayos naman ang pagkaka harvest mo nito, pwede mo ito gamitin. Subukan mo muna sa small part ng face (for example near the ears) and observe for reaction. If wala naman then pwede mo itong gamitin. Mag ingat ka lng sa mga tinik, at dun sa sap or ung yellowish liquid na lumalabas pagka pitas mo kc maari rin itong mag cause ng reaction or allergy.

    • @irenegaile

      Mariz Gamalo the best moisturizer is one that contains moisturizing ingredients- ceramides, colloidal oatmeal etc - and one that doesn’t contain too many ingredients. Dont go for those that have “whitening” or “rejuvenating” in the label because they might have those that should not be used when pregnant :)

If your skin feels ok and is not dry even without an additional moisturizer, then there is no need. If you've tried using additional mositurizers and find that it causes you to breakout, then don't use one :)

      Tin Sabater hello! Flakes in the scalp can be one of many things such as dry scalp in which case you might need to shift to a milder gentler shampoo or moisturize your scalp, or it can be due to dandruff caused by proliferation of pityrosporum ovale in our scalp, in which case u will need an antidandruff shampoo. However, there are other scalp conditions that may look like dandruff but are not. Pagnasubukan nyo na po ung mga sinuggest ko at hindi parin nawawala, i recommend po na you go to your dermatologist for proper assessment and treatment.

      Rexon Ilagan hello! I suggest you consult a dermatologist kc “hand eczema” can be due to a lot of things - like contact dermatitis.
      In most cases wala kang mabibili over the counter that will solve it and usually hindi sapat ang pamahid lng. You will also need to find out what is causing your hand eczema.
      In the meantime, habang hindi ka pa nakakapagkonsulta sa dermatologist, it might help to use occlusives such as your petroleum jelly to protect your skin from external factors that may worsen your condition.
