Great video. I agree, the best buyer for the base model M3 Pro would be the people wanting a more capable machine than the M2 Air and 13” MacBook Pro. If they’re not shopping between those basic models, they should go the base M3 Pro chip.
@@sharonb.9128 Screen is smaller than the 15" Air and speakers are comparable to the 15". The extra port is just an HDMI and card reader, which you could get with an Anker hub. It beats your base M3 in everything except battery life, which was already lasting all day and it costs the same or less.
I am not crazy about 8GB of RAM but I am coming from 13" Intel MBP to 14" MBP M3. My work flow doesn't seem affected by the smaller RAM plus I got a great deal on this model at Costco. My previous MBP used to run hot all the time and the battery was awful. This new one is super quiet and runs cool.
Similar specs upgrade of base m3 gets you very close to the m3 pro, with the pro getting another thunderbolt port and multiple display support, additional cores, and space black color. The most significant upgrade being the space black
2GB more ram, CPU and GPU are 50% faster, SSD is faster, extra cooling system, quieter, extra TB port, extra monitor support, all for $200 more. In the PC world with no apple tax, either the CPU or the GPU upgrade alone would cost $200. The base M3 in a Pro body is a terrible deal!
@@5GRobo with only 8GB at $1,599, I agree. If it had 16GB RAM for that price, then I would say it's a great value but as it stands now, it shouldn't exist in the lineup.
It’s like you were directly speaking to me. 😂 I don’t use pro apps etc. However the screen on the base M3 and the speakers are worth the extra money, even if I don’t use it as intended. My old MacBook Air M2 is being retired.
@@OviLazar The battery can be changed in the future, but the RAM can't and the apps will keep getting bigger and bigger and they will only use more RAM. 8gb of RAM is not enough today, let alone for the long term.

You did the best in focusing more on my decision especially when you said more of base M3 comparing to the new Mac Book Air thank you for making my decision more clear. Thanks again
I just picked up the M3Pro yesterday. This is my first macbook and am moving away from windows laptops. Still have a desktop windows rig that I built for gaming but am enjoying this macbook very much so far.
I’m in the same exact situation moving from Windows to Mac but keeping a gaming desktop, probably gonna get myself one of these M3 Pro MBP, how are you liking it?
@@-Burb Man I am loving it. It just works across ally my apple devices (apple watch, ipad, airpod pros, etc) seamlessly. For browsing and consumer media, I haven't been on my gaming PC since purchasing.
I think you’re right, if someone just wants some of the features from the MacBook pros, but actually doesn’t do any type of pro workflows consistently, or has no ambitions to do any of those workflows then yes the M3 MacBook Pro makes sense. However, this device has no headroom to grow. You didn’t really show any multitasking and any type of multitasking that includes a combination of certain pro level application and maybe more normal applications, and web browsing completely bottlenecks the a 8 GB of ram. The ram pressure is just way higher when you’re multitasking. And if you’re interested in doing any type of pro application that uses GPU performance like blender, you can actually just crash the software if it’s not the only software that you’re running at at the time. So you know I think that in general, if you’re somewhere in between a pro level user and a normal user, the main question to ask yourself is what task do you plan to be doing with this MacBook Pro That would be considered a pro level application? if it’s just video editing with Final Cut Pro, you’re fine to get just a normal MacBook Pro. However, if you want to use multiple Adobe applications at the same time, potentially, da Vinci, resolve, or blender then you might want to look at M3 pro MacBook Pro. I think at a $200 difference after you upgrade to 16 GB of ram it really becomes a hard sell to not move up to the M3 Pro. I think multiple creators and myself could agree on one thing which is I don’t really think this device should be specked up to the 16 GB, if you need that just go to the M2 Pro or M3 pro MacBook Pro. In the battery life debate I do believe is important, but the battery life issues that the 14 inch M2 MacBook Pro had have been significantly mitigated due to the E core and P core allocation on the M3 Pro MacBook Pro 14 inch. Right now that makes the baseline M3 MacBook Pro have about 20% longer battery life over the M3 pro MacBook Pro. I do not think that that’s insignificant, but I think the real world experience of that extra 20% might not be as noticeable as it seems. Like realistically at the end of the day, that’s the difference between having 8% battery leftover versus 12% battery. What I would actually like to see even though this is a harder test is does the M3 have better standby time then the M3 pro MacBook Pro. Because if the M3 can essentially hold its battery longer while not in use in addition to being able to last longer, that would be a really big shifter for me. However if it’s about the same that 20% difference I think you actually get a good trade for that 20%. You actually get a pro level laptop that’s still last incredibly long time, but I feel like if the M3 is going to be a battery champ vs the M3 Pro it’s gotta be like really good not just slightly better than the M3 pro.
I agree! I'd love to see a comparison between the regular M3 24GB and the M3 Pro base, and particularly, how well the battery does. Base M3 with upgraded memory becomes a far better value proposition for a semi-pro user if the battery life is the differentiator
people looking at the base m3 model should look at a last gen m2 pro model which can still be found new on sale at 1600 usd. comes with double the cooling, double the ram, 40% more gpu performance and can connect to 2 displays instead of one
Ports? It just has an HDMI out and a card reader...That's all. Get an Anker hub and it will do more plus charge your laptop with one single cable. The screen is smaller than the 15" Air and it's not like it's OLED, so I'd prefer the bigger screen. The Air 15" with 16GB of ram is a better machine for everyday use as a laptop. CPU is not the bottleneck for most people, RAM is. For desktop replacement, you either get the M2 Pro for cheaper or you get the M3 Pro base mode.
@phxntomplanet but the 16" is not exactly a laptop. It's like a portable workstation with a folding screen. 15" Air can be used on your lap like any laptop, and it's a pleasure to hold in the hands, even better than 14" pro.
@@5GRobo that's like saying the 13 inch laptop is too small because it can't be used on your lap unless or legs are close together so its not a laptop.. its an extremely unintelligent answer and its wrong.
I am looking to upgrade my 2017 Macbook Pro 13. As programmer the base model should be sufficient but... Seriously my 6 year old base model already had 8GB RAM. 😐😬
It's so easy to decide. for $300 more you get 2GB of more ram, CPU and GPU are 50% faster, SSD is faster, extra cooling system, quieter, extra TB port, extra monitor support. In the PC world with no apple tax, either the CPU and GPU upgrade alone would cost $300. The base M3 in a Pro body is a terrible deal. please don't buy it. If you want a great deal, get a refurbed M2 Pro for less money than the base M3 or go all the way for the M3 Pro base.
@@5GRobo what about the refurbished m2 pro 10 core cpu 16 core gpu vs m3 pro 11 core cpu 14 core gpu? I am unsure which to get. Its a 500 CAD difference.
I got myself an MacBook Pro M3-pro chip (just the base 11core/14core version). When I use it for light tasks the battery life is amazing. taking notes and browsing during lectures resulted in a 7 hour use time with 86% battery left. I wonder if those 18 hours displayed when you buy the computer is for quiet heady duty work. If I use it for light tasks the battery would last days. right now just using it for light tasks like programming and Matlab occasionally. the future will be more heavy duty 3d modeling and engineering simulating programs. Conclusion. MacBook 14" M3-Pro is a quite amazing machine, I would not take into account the battery life difference between 18 and 22 hours. even this one has more than anyone could utilize. don't buy the base model unless you're on a budget

I was really thinking about going 14 inch base Pro but decided to pick up the 15 inch Air base model a few days ago. I had a pro from 10 years ago so it was time to upgrade. I might upgrade to the M3 Air if they release that but definitely not going another 10 years without updating it lol
That’s why there are many resellers offer 16GB Memory Ram MacBook Pro with $200 -$300 discount. Let’s say Mac Connection, Insight Enterprises, CDW are offering $1499-$1599.
Someone from Apple just claimed their 8GB is analagous to 16GB on a Windows PC (lmao). I think you should put that to the test. Not using an Intel mac with a chip designed 10 years ago, using a hyper modern competitor from AMD or Intel, 16GB vs 8 on a mac, through heavy data sets that exceed 8GB, not just swapping around a few small programs that swap could mask ok.
How can 8GB equal to 16GB? The file size is often equal to each other. A 30MB jpg image remains a 30MB jpg image and needs to be put somewhere with all the other stuff that is going on.
@@oliverlisonThanks to the unified memory, they use the swap of the SSD for RAM shortage. You will lose long-term reliability, but, effectively, the RAM doesn't matter in that case because the unified memory is handling it just like a 16 GB RAM machine would.

Very nice Thank you....I watched this video on the base model m3...and fr most people out there including me, this is more than enough for regular daily tasks (btw I I switched from the M1 Pro and saw a big difference )
QUESTION! I’m considering selling my trusty M1 Macbook Air with 16gb ram and getting 14” M3 Pro (either binned or unbinned). What do you think? Would that be a significant upgrade?
I'm upgrading from the 2020 M1 MBP...which i believe is 8 core CPU and 8 core GPU. I use Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro (though, not simultaneously), and edit SLOG from my Sony A7 IV in FCP, with some basic color grading/LUTs. My current machine handles this pretty well, but there are certainly some times where it can struggle a bit. Though the base M3 is impressive, my gut tells me that the MBP with the M3 PRO chip (12 core CPU / 18 core GPU) is the move for me and should be plenty of computer, but the Max is tempting as well. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Hey, I've just purchased Final Cut Pro educational pkg from Apple. Never used it before. My 2016 Macbook pro just died and I have to get another laptop. How much RAM do you presently have or need to operate Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Pro? What would you suggest?
Since the introduction of Apple silicon, it's the time of refurbished/preowned MacBooks in my opinion. M1 (Pro) is more than enough for most people, and even the old Intel models are getting really attractive now since their prices have fallen so much. I just bought a 16" i9 because I need to connect 2 external screens, want a big screen and good speakers, and I want to run x64 VMs. For most people, I'd recommend an M1/M2 MacBook Air, and if you need more than one external display, an M1 MBP. I think for most people, M1 Pro or M2 Pro is a better buy than an M3 (Pro) MBP. The M3 Max MBP made a huge leap, that's where going for the new one can really make sense.
Greg, thank you for a frank and non-performative, drama free objective look and opinion at the M3 MacBook Pro. I really appreciate your opinion and the quality of this content. 👏🏻
Is there a difference in the SSD speeds when you upgrade the SSD for both models? How do they compare to baseline and to each other at 1TB, 2TB? It would be interesting to see whether there is any difference with the M3 Max variant ssd speeds as well…
From what I saw on a different video, m3 base was averaging 3k+ Mb a second, the m3pro averaged about 4.5k, and the 1tb version as around 6k+. All dual nand though, which is great.
Don’t say the base ISNT A PRO model. There are different professionals. Even people who have lots of money don’t necessarily want to spend on features or specs they don’t need. Do like your videos though. Keep them up
I opted for the M3 Pro 16" , why? For me it's the sweet spot between battery life and performance. The M3 Max burns through too much battery for my taste. I do compile code a lot but nowadays the incremental Rust-based compilers are really really efficient and fast.
There shouldn't be too much difference in battery for a given task. M3 Max consumes more, but it finishes faster. The difference is only 2 less E-cores, so shouldn't be that noticeable.
Thanks for the videos and updates on new M3 chips but why is no one comparing 16” MBP M2 MAX, 32GB, 1TB ssd, 12CPU/38GPU with 16” MBP M3 PRO, 36GB, 1TB ssd, 12CPU/18GPU Those results would tell a lot about new chip...
Yeah its quite confusing. The CPU test says 11 core which comes with a 14 core GPU but the graphics one is an 18 core GPU which means the CPU must be 12 core. So which M3 Pro chip did you use!?
Great video - but your point about 8GB Unified Memory on the base model is important - I think most people agree 8GB is not enough (or at least doesn't future proof it) - so once you upgrade that to 16GB, and upgrade to 1TB memory SSD - you are comparing £2099 to £2299 for the M3Pro chip with 1 TB ssd (and you get extras eg more CPU & GPU and an extra port - and "Space Black" rather than "Space Grey"). Just too many choices!! Maybe I should just wait for an M4 chip!!!
Well, i am still on intel 13 inch and i am an indie dev, so my apps are not so large and complicated, but still need to run docker etc. 8gb of ram is not even a joke in this times, especially that is shared with graphics, Next thing is that crappy single fan, and only one monitor support. If i am not mistaken even 2 port old 13 inch intel MBP could run 2 external monitors. So... ram upgrade is a must. It is 18 hundred bucks. For 200 bucks more you have better cooling, better cpu and gpu, support for 2 monitors which you could consider pro feature maybe 20 years ago, and 2 gigs of ram. If i will buy a new one it will be probably m3 pro model.
The base 16" is configured identically to the 14" with 12-core/18 GB. If you put 1 TB on each, the difference is $300. other than ~28% more screen real estate (and a return to 22-hr from 18-hr), what might the difference in performance be? Obviously, it could easily have better thermals based on being bigger. But is it also a better performer than the 14?
when you showed the specs you showed 11 CPU cores and 14 GPU cores for M3 Pro version as well as Geekbench (binned version) but when comparing GFX bench you showed M3 Pro to M2 Pro you showed 18 cores rather than 14. Are you using to models (binned and unbinned) or is it an error or am I just confused?
4:42, is this calculation correct? 40% does not align with the graph shown. Also, just browsing the web, the number I saw for Geekbench 6 SC for the M2 was 2592 and for the M3 3084, which is 19% . Still a good improvement but not 40%
I’m considering between the MacBook Air 15in, M2, 16GB Unified Memory, and 516GB SSD Storage and the MacBook Pro 14in, M3, 16GB Unified Memory, and 516GB SSD Storage. It would be a personal laptop, which would be used for college and other personal purposes such as watching videos or playing games. What would you all recommend I get? (I also do have some what if a budget, but I just want something that will last me a few years and is powerful enough)
Yes after watching your previous video, I have just bought a 16 inch M3 Pro MacBook Base model. It's 300% faster than my 2019 Intel MacBook pro; and it's not a lap heater. It's only been a few years since I bought my Intel Mac but what a quantum leap. It is a bit heavier but I don't take it out much so not a problem. So the 16inch is a 12 core CPU and 18GPU (but 14 inch is 11/14) and £500 more expensive.
Absolutely. The CPU is not the bottleneck for everyday use the RAM is. Plus you get a bigger screen, which does make a difference. Also look for the M2 Pro, they can be had for a good price now and they come with 16GB of ram and performance is in line with the M3 Pro.
You should do the gaming test using Baldur's Gate III - it's optimized for Apple Silicon, Metal, and was released in 2023. The best part of the game to use for benchmarking is walking around the city of Baldur's Gate in Act III
thank you it means so much to know how much fps it can do so i can compare it to previous silicon to see the gains of pro against max, right now i own m1 imac 24 inch with 16gb ram and it struggles to keep with my daily task, and today i made the decision to commit to m3 macbook pro 14.2 inch space black reason being is the cheapest pro laptop to get and it takes me few months to get it from 0, compared to max chip which i want but sadly it cost twice the price of pro meaning in waiting time above a year meeaning that next macs will come out by the time i buy a max, thefore i will just commit to the cheapest pro chip this year and learn the laptop but from your video i love the way it looks and shows great results so im sure i will be happy selling my imac for it, it is still brand new i got it less than half year ago but im sick of white basels and light colour and i was hesitating to get pro because it had only grey and silver, while i do belive i will miss 24 inch display of 4.5k resulution it can be solved in time by getting xdrr apple display of 32 inch which is a 6k display with mini led if i prefer size of display, same goes for external add ons like keyboard mice or bluetooth speakers, which could sound like mac studio zone but it is different, it is very expensive and lacks in every aspect aside from power rest.
I'd like to see a comparison between the base M3 and the base Mac Mini Pro. They should play the same role in the lineup - the machine in the middle, sitting between base M2/Air and "properly pro" models like Mac Studio/full-fat MacBook Pro...
Picked up the base M3 yesterday (traded my i9 2019 16in). Less than 24 hours and I have no buyers remorse. Bought that i9 during lockdown in early 2020 when I was going to work on video editing but that slowly went away lol. My workload wasn’t that heavy on that device…just some online classes and web browsing. Needless to say, I overindulged. Biggest pro of having this new M3 (other than fantastic battery life) is that I don’t have to hear that awful loud fan kick in 😂😂
@@5GRobo i agreed!! And I contemplated….opted out of that option. I’ll probably get a whole beat of a rig when I need it. I actually use my phone and M2 iPad Pro more than my MacBook.

Please do not start the plot axes from arbitrary values, eg @ 5:06 where it starts from 500 instead of 0 and seems as if the performance doubles, trying to make the differences appear bigger than they actually are, it is a really bad practice.
What is the best value if I come from a M1 16gb Mac Mini that is struggling with my video editing workflow? I don’t know if ai should get M3 Pro (base), M3 Pro (upgraded), M3 MAX (base) or M2 Pro refurbished
Any thoughts on the $2000 space black m3 macbook pro vs the Studio Mac M2 Max? I already have a 4k monitor and don't edit that much or leave my house for work. I would like to edit more but even that would be basic editing and no graphics work. I also have a friend who works for Apple so I get a 15% discount. Should I get the M3 to just future-proof even though its less cores all around and memory?
Not sure about that regarding the video, 16gb plus 1to Hard Drive still better deal for most of the people using a MacBook Pro for editing video and gaming!!if you don't planned to plug 2 external screen....what else do you need in real world????@@5GRobo
@andre7184 Value for money, which also translates to a better resell value. The real Pro is a much faster machine with double the cooling, which also makes less noise. Faster SSD, the extra port, 2gb more ram and of course the extra display support. The CPU upgrade alone is worth $200 in the PC world, where there is no Apple tax, so all the other stuff are free. Even if I didn't need all the extra features, which I need all of them, I'd still go for the M3 Pro for $200 more, because I will get most if not all of it back when it's time to resell. If you order it in the new color, you'll get the $200 back in full in a couple of years.
Just found a deal for the M3 with 24GB of ram and 2TB for the price of ... base M3 model. I know all about the M3pro chip advantage... but the M3 will do !
With the veteran's discount, my 3 options currently: M2 Air with 512/8 - $1,249 M3 Base Pro 512/8 - $1,439 M3 Pro 512/18 - $1799 So is $190 worth a better screen, sound, webcam, and far better CPU? M3 pro is a little bit too expensive atm, and I don’t like the M3. Now the question is should I get a M1 Pro or M2 pro. Requirements are 1 tb and 16 GB unified.
They know exactly what they are doing with their pricing imo. Base MacBook Air has abysmal specs and when you go to 16 gigs of ram and 512 gigs of storage you're right at the price of the MacBook Pro. But the MacBook Pro only comes with 8 gigs of ram and after you upgrade that you're right on the doorstep of the m3 pro chip. So basically you go from 1099 to 1999 before you even realize what happened lol. And that's how I ended up with a new m3 pro🤣

This convinced me to stick with the base model. I don’t use pro applications. My use case is M365, RUclips and other simple processes. Thank you!!
It’s like you were directly speaking to me. 😂 I don’t use pro apps etc. However the screen on the base M3 and the speakers are worth the extra money, even if I don’t use it as intended. My old MacBook Air M2 is being retired.
The M1 Air 2021 is plenty for me! 😊
If it could drive two external displays I would have bought it on day one, besides that it is perfect.
Finally someone mentioned the battery benefits of the base M3. 25% boost over the M3 Pro is no joke, right!?
It was already lasting all day anyway, so unless you're a survivalist or really need that extra a few hours, then it's not a selling point.
@@5GRobo It might be for those of us who want to keep these laptops long-term and are worried about battery degradation.

Whatever you do please get a machine with 16GB of ram. Air 15" 16GB is a great machine, so is the M2 Pro
Well done comparison. You answered a lot of my questions.

Obviously the M3 Pro is better lol, if you can afford it, then go for it

m3 pro , 100%
Is it portable or too heavy?
@@bhawanigurung9913 I find it easily portable.
Actually based level M3 is not necessarily a PRO performance, its just a PRO hardware.
Pro performance starts with the M3 Pro.
Battery life differance would be interesting
people looking at the base m3 model should look at a last gen m2 pro model which can still be found new on sale at 1600 usd. comes with double the cooling, double the ram, 40% more gpu performance and can connect to 2 displays instead of one
so a few understand this
I snatched the base model for $900 on fb marketplace and I’m really happy.
Amazing Content. but i'd like to see the vs of M3 base vs M2 PRO. That's the huge question!
It's not a huge question and the answer is simple. Go for the M2 Pro
If you want the ports, Mini-LED display and updated chip, this is a great alternative to the Air. I may have gone with this over the Air.
this entry Macbook Pro M3 makes me think..... is gonna be an Air with M3 only without 120Hz???
@@5GRoboif I’m worried about screen size I’m getting the 16” lol
@phxntomplanet but the 16" is not exactly a laptop. It's like a portable workstation with a folding screen. 15" Air can be used on your lap like any laptop, and it's a pleasure to hold in the hands, even better than 14" pro.
@@5GRobo that's like saying the 13 inch laptop is too small because it can't be used on your lap unless or legs are close together so its not a laptop.. its an extremely unintelligent answer and its wrong.

No choice for upgrade. That's why customers are against Apple's policy

Don't get the base with 8GB if ram. What's is this 2006? Get the M2 pro for a great deal or go with M3 Pro.
Your charts are really confusing. The bar is not the same ratio as improvement.
In Canada it's a $300 difference if you upgrade the base M3 to 16GB, much more difficult to decide.

Idk why it took so long for me to find your channel, but you make great content!

How’s the MacBook Pro M3 pro real life battery performance? I’m considering between M3 Pro and M3 base model :)
I was really thinking about going 14 inch base Pro but decided to pick up the 15 inch Air base model a few days ago. I had a pro from 10 years ago so it was time to upgrade. I might upgrade to the M3 Air if they release that but definitely not going another 10 years without updating it lol
Great job. The 15" is a nicer to use for everyday use. I just hope you upgraded the RAM.
Don’t forget about the color. Hope you skipped the midnight one too.
8GB of memory on a MacBook “Pro” at the end of 2023 is inexcusable. It’s nice to hear that it’s a moderately performant machine though.
That’s why there are many resellers offer 16GB Memory Ram MacBook Pro with $200 -$300 discount. Let’s say Mac Connection, Insight Enterprises, CDW are offering $1499-$1599.
Just get refurbished 16 gb ram for 70 dollar discount it’s pretty much new or get m2 pro for same price with far better performanxe

If I'm performing an operation on hundreds of thousands of rows of data, they have to be somewhere physically fast, they don't exist in aether. Anything that swaps to SSD has access times in ms, not RAM's ns, one millisecond is 1000000 nanoseconds if anyone needs the reminder so I'm not exaggerating when I say several orders of magnitude slower. If you need RAM, you need RAM, there's no way around it. Unified is just faster when you share data from CPU to GPU or the other way because of no pool swapping, but otherwise the physicality of RAM remains.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!
wait few months and get a refurbished M3 Max?
Hey, I've just purchased Final Cut Pro educational pkg from Apple. Never used it before. My 2016 Macbook pro just died and I have to get another laptop. How much RAM do you presently have or need to operate Final Cut Pro on a Macbook Pro? What would you suggest?
I’m glad you showed the cooling fans. It too Apple customer service too many hrs to tell me.
how does the m3 base model comprares to the base model macbook pro 14 m1 pro since you can get it refurbished for less than that value?
Why do you guys say you can’t connect more than 1 monitor. Yes you can.
Same question. One of my coworkers uses a Macbook Pro M1 and has 2 extra monitors connected, 3 if you count the Macbook's one.
I’m only a basic user no fancy stuff so as U say the base M3 sounds good enough for me 👍
Is there a difference in the SSD speeds when you upgrade the SSD for both models?
@@5GRobo That was certainly not the case for my 14 m1 pro vs M1 max

Good information
Great video - but your point about 8GB Unified Memory on the base model is important - I think most people agree 8GB is not enough (or at least doesn't future proof it) - so once you upgrade that to 16GB, and upgrade to 1TB memory SSD - you are comparing £2099 to £2299 for the M3Pro chip with 1 TB ssd (and you get extras eg more CPU & GPU and an extra port - and "Space Black" rather than "Space Grey"). Just too many choices!! Maybe I should just wait for an M4 chip!!!
Was the two screens that got me to pro, needed two man
Well, i am still on intel 13 inch and i am an indie dev, so my apps are not so large and complicated, but still need to run docker etc.
What does it mean, a better Battery life ?
Tbh the Space Black color alone makes the M3 Pro the better choice IMO :D
The base 16" is configured identically to the 14" with 12-core/18 GB. If you put 1 TB on each, the difference is $300. other than ~28% more screen real estate (and a return to 22-hr from 18-hr), what might the difference in performance be? Obviously, it could easily have better thermals based on being bigger. But is it also a better performer than the 14?

16 gb of unified memory for sure and for storage you can get and external memory

I value efficiency over power and was really tempted to upgrade my M1 to the M3.
That 8gb of ram is a real deal breaker though.
Yes, and by the time you add the extra ram, you'd be out of your mind not to order the M3 Pro for so much more performance and features.
@@pimentovski2011 Well, if that's a real deal and you're not being scammed, then I don't need to tell you that's too good to be true!
With the veteran's discount, my 3 options currently:
M2 Air with 512/8 - $1,249
M3 Base Pro 512/8 - $1,439
M3 Pro 512/18 - $1799
So is $190 worth a better screen, sound, webcam, and far better CPU? Is the $460 to the top worth 10 GB RAM and a thunderbolt port?
Use case is a lot of single core activity but I hate 8 GB RAM.
Perhaps the M3 Base Pro for $1,619 with the memory upgrade.
Conversations with myself that I'm typing. 😛
And what about the macbook air 15 inch m2 16gb ram version? Is that better than buying the m3 macbook pro base model with only 8gb ram? They're about the same price
Screen resolution is much better on MBPros and there is no cooling system in an air so with intensive graphics your goose might be cooked.@@Avm371998
I was just debating doing the same thing, adding more ram to the base MBP M3 model. I wonder if that would improve performance and save myself about 300 in Canada.
14 inch MacBook is sarcasm of pro
8 gb ram
Less fans
Less thunderbolt port
Less bandwidth Speed
Less storage
It's same gimmick like M2 13 inch MacBook
Not accepted
Add 400 and go for real MacBook Pro M3 pro with 18 gb ram .
M3 pro is a little bit too expensive atm, and I don’t like the M3. Now the question is should I get a M1 Pro or M2 pro. Requirements are 1 tb and 16 GB unified.
Thank you!
If the base model came with 16GB of Ram I would consider it, IMO it is DOA. I would either go with the M3 pro or a refurbed M2 Pro
You are smart and well understood where the deals are, unlike Greg!
I’m looking to upgrade from MacBook Air 2017intel for college.. I just do normal browsing, Netflix and a little bit of Lightroom classic editing, not photoshop. I was thinking of MacBook Pro m3 with 16gb 512gb. Or just get a m3 pro at this point?
good question, especially seeing the battery life... but most people say the M3Pro is worth it.
yeah I do like the 22hr battery life but they said 8gb is too low

You should make a video on entry level 14inch macbook pro m3 pro vs m1 pro
Not needed. The M3 is a terrible machine. Get an M2 Pro or go for M3 Pro
