1600 usd and they don't even give you 1TB. My camera's SD card is now 512GB... Time for Apple to update base spec storage as well! They always give you less than you deserve.
I’m a little surprised you’re not already above 400k. You’ve always had a great coverage and sound advice for your audience. Keep up the great work and you’ll be there before you know it.
As Air 15 M3 16gb 256 owner for 2 weeks now I'm very happy with it. Plan on doing web dev on it aswell. Average temp. is around 30-35c light use, loooong battery life and very quick.
No bad options? IMO, any of the MacBook Air base models with 256GB SSD are dubious if not outright bad options for most people. Unless you're a student who can keep your documents in the Cloud, I'd say that the viable options start at $1300 and $1600 for Air and Pro respectively.
My camera's SD card is now 512GB. 512GB is only offered on the cheap models on windows side, Let alone them daring to ship 2024 models with just 256Gb.... Phones these days have more storage....
Last year my old Intel 15" MacBook Pro ended up dying (I had it a long time), so I upgraded to the M3 Pro 16 inch MacBook Pro and it is by far an amazing machine and stellar upgrade! I am in college and use an M2 15 inch MacBook Air for that, and both of these machines are so much more powerful than that old Intel MBP. These M4 Macs look amazing too!
I'm staying with my M1 MBA for now. It's still doing fine for me, though it does have a somewhat annoying dead pixel in the bottom right of the screen (that's been there since shortly after it was new). I spec'ed mine up to 16GB and 500GB of storage when I bought it, and it's still going strong. It could be faster when editing my 42 megapixel RAW images, but it isn't too bad even at that, and given that I'm not a professional who does photo processing/editing all day long, it's perfectly fine for me. I think my next machine will be either the M4 or M5 Macbook Air.
i wish Apple updated M4 chip on all computers at the same time.. or if you could pay a bit extra for OLED screen on Macbook Air, would be a perfect laptop, 15/16 inc MacBook Air with M4 and OLED screen.
If you are cautious it's possible to be ok with 256gb storage, but it can be a pain in the ass if you have huge libraries or play big games. I'ts a shame that we also didn't get 512gb with the 16 gb ram.
I want the MacBook Pro just because of the fans, my MacBook m1 air gets pretty hot in my country when we get 86 degrees plus of temp which is most of the year 😢 otherwise on a room with A/C the air does great.
I'm hoping they do a lot with the M4 MacBook Air (specially I want the 3rd TB port on the right) b/c as it stands as much as I want a fanless, super light MacBook Air, I just think for 599 more the M4 pro is too good. The extra port, 6 more hrs of battery, the better screen + 1000 nits SDR outside
I just bought the iMac m4. Tired of waiting around for the Mac Studio m4 max. I’ll use it for a year then sell it. I’m currently using 2015 iMac so this iMac will still be a decent upgrade
There is a pretty good deal going on in the Apple Refurbished store to where you can get the 15-inch M3 MacBook Air with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage for $1,279.
Just got the newest MacBook Air back in September with 8gb.... is it worth trading in for one with 16gb? Clearly I'm going to loose some money if I do and have to come out of pocket for the difference. Probably not worth it?
I would go to the store and see if you get an exchange. It has not been that long and even if you are passed the return window see if you get something
It depends on what you do with it. Does it feel slow to you? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. Use what you have and be happy. When--or if--you notice it being slow, get something new.
Love the work dude. Been a longti😂me sub and no doubt you’ll hit your goal, these new Mac lineup bringing more people to the light side (Mac). Video request of your have time, monitors for the new MacMini, its gonna be a huge seller and many of us have no clue where to start for monitors
What you should do is stop and figure out will the Air have a M4 in 2025 the answer is yes so use what you have wait until that happens and hold on to your money.
Honestly, I feel like either is not a bad choice, but neither is cheap. However, the MacBook Air is still an excellent machine for most people. So, does one need ports? Does one edit videos or photos often? These questions are valid to ask yourself it gets expensive fast with Apple so pick and choose what you want both should last equally as long. The M3 is still very capable and does the added features matter to you for everyday use?
Not sure about the macs, but on the ipad pro (i have bought one) there is a big quality drop in image quality. If you think the nano texture is good for you I would advise you to wait and see in a apple store for yourself.
Currently have the Air 15 M2 8gb 256, and for web development I have being struggling. Multiple tabs open, adobe products in use, and vs code it’s slowing down the process so I decided to preorder the base m4.
Once you upgrade the memory and storage on the Air it becomes $100 less than tho pro. And for $100 you get a much better display, speaker, ports, performance, battery life, a fan.. it’s a no brainer to me. Even if I did end up getting the Air lol
1000 nits, lol. No-one is using their MBP in direct sunlight.... why is it that when things are upgraded each year, we consider the previous device trash? PEOPLE, ALL YOU NEED IS THE DAMN MACBOOK AIR DISPLAY.. Stop giving into stupid consumerism.
A lot of people use their laptops outside or at cafes where a brighter screen would be appreciated. Of course the Air’s display is fine, but why shouldn’t people buy what they want consumerism is a good thing it keeps the economy going.
I'm thinking which MacBook should I buy: - MacBook Pro M4 1 TB 32gb ram - MacBook Pro M4 pro 1 TB 48 GB ram I am a software engineer, so I don't need GPU a lot, performance of base M4 CPU is already very good and I think 32gb would be fine for me, not sure I should spend extra ~500$ for M4 Pro. On the other hand M4 Pro has better memory bandwidth, thunderbolt 5 (which is future proofing), better multi core performance and for the spec I mentioned + 12 GB ram What would you suggest?

Hey Greg, Center Stage shouldn’t be a problem as it does use a 12MP sensor which is what’s needed for 4K

You’re wrong about the webcam, it is 12 megapixels. Even cropped it should have better resolution than the 1080p in MacBook Air.

I saw that the base M4 is slightly as good as the M3 Pro, which is insane.

Honestly I'd go air. The CPU performance jump won't be as worth is compared to 16gb/2tb or 24gb/1tb on the 13 inch M3 air, vs 16 1tb on the pro.
Which one is better for music production?
MacBook Pro with the extra ports and power would be better

That’s so weird an actual good deal on refurbished store lol. Considering they replace everything anyway for refurbished it’s like buying nee
