They have a long way to go before they could even put a dent in Windows in terms of games. Games are some of the main reasons one would buy newer hardware. The Mac, until recently, has been weak when it came to gaming.
First of all they need to become more backwards compatibility friendly, Apple killed more than 10 years of native x86 32-bit games without offering any alternatives, which drastically reduced the macOS game library which was already quite small even compared to video game consoles. The same is true for iOS. (on iOS that is even worse, far worse)

It will be enough, if you watched some of the previous videos, the basic M3 Macbook 16GB had about 25fps and that is used 3 emulation layer (emulated Windows, x86 to ARM emulation and DX12 to Metal emulation) to reach that, if the game runs natively at least you will gain doubled performance, and the M4 is also more powerfull like the M3 was, so you can expect at least 1080p@60fps when it's run natively on M4.

I just wish they would work something out with Microsoft, because Microsoft has problems with the law due to its monopolistic situation and so does Apple. So why not make a deal where almost all the studios of Microsoft companies are allowed to port their games to the Mac. And maybe the same with Sony bringing their games to Windows. It might help all parties to have another argument to do their things and we gamers would win for once. Would definitely love to see Diablo IV tested, maybe even with the latest GPTK and Ray Tracing. Since that RT made the game unplayable. Also I play the game on the highest native resolution of my MBP or a 4K screen. So yes, I would love to see you test this again to run the games on a 4k or 3.5k screen. Maybe even the Studio XDR would be a good test. I have an M3 Max, the more expensive version with the 40 core GPU and there are only a couple reasons I would sell it for a better one, that would be native 60-120 FPS 4K gaming with RTX(70-120 without) in games like Diablo IV and at least constant 60FPS in games with RTX on low and 4k or native MBP resolution in games like Cyberpunk. Also, the iPad OLED screen would be tempting. Right now, 25% better graphics performance in DIV with crossover without RTX but native 4k without upscaling would get me to about 45 stable FPS in heavy scenes and 50-60 FPS in random scenes. So here it would need almost 50-100% higher performance to make a purchase justified. It would also be interesting to know if it runs quieter and cooler, because the M3 Max can be very very loud. Not as loud as a Windows laptop in the same performance range, but very very loud.
It took 5 years for apple to make 16gb as standard in a “premium” pc(yes, even MacBook Air is a premium pc). Now macs air are worth buying for programmers. Next step is making 512gb of storage as standard, so gotta wait another 5 years😂😂😂

even the base m1 is (at least for me)
That is cool and all but when are we going to see some multiplayer games like warzone gta online csgo2 the finals and stuff like that becouse that are in the end the most played games. And that spot me from buying mac becouse im not willing to give up playmg with my mates.
Thats an expensive month ;)
Needs frame gen to hit barely 60 fps. Gotcha lol
Your voice sounds like thoughty2
It took 5 years for apple to make 16gb as standard in a “premium” pc(yes, even MacBook Air is a premium pc). Now macs air are worth buying for programmers. Next step is making 512gb of storage as standard, so gotta wait another 5 years😂😂😂
Mac frame Gen, the equivalent of polishing a turd.
Please kindly text all 3 tomb raiders available on mac
people buying the 8 GB got scammed

It seems they're promoting Pathtracing on the M4 Max, Apple is is catching up fast
