Lupus is a difficult auto immune disease. Glad you got the help you needed. Where i live we have walk ins open 8 to 8 and some until 4 or 6 on the weekend
""A place for everything and everything in its place," courtesy of my grandmother. I can totally relate to your hot and cold weather stories, and the joys of auto-immune disease. I'm literally allergic to sunlight and causes giant blisters on any uncovered section of my body, so when I go outside I look like a Victorian lady with hat, gloves and parasol. My body has two temperatures: waaay too hot or waaay too cold. At least we have complicated indoor hobbies to take up our time, right?
I can totally relate...except swap the blisters for an all-over rash. I think you got the short end of the stick on that one. Blisters sound absolutely miserable! >.
Oh my goodness!! This is just the sweetest little box. I love watching your videos and seeing how you think things through. I'm glad your rash wasn't too serious. Many thanks x
I love rambling craft videos, it's like sitting with my craft group and listening to one of the ladies ramble. I can craft along and enjoy. I don't have many yardsticks but I have paint sticks from Home Depot or another hardware store that are about the same thickness and I'll stamp on them before staining to add interest.
When you started over, i just laughed and laughed. And laughed. I have done that many times myself. I am also like you in organization skills. My entire family (parents, sisters, daughter, grandparents, husband, etc) are all organized. I'm this island of disorganization. If that's a word. Loved this video! My sister has Lupus. I've seen that reaction before. It's scary. Hope yours stays inactive.
I love your videos and creativity. I have lots of chronic health conditions so I'm tossing in my vote for the island. My asthma doesn't like too hot or too cold, neither does the fibromyalgia. Big hugs to you and thank you for inspiring me.
I do this stuff to myself all the time. Always distracted and start mini projects in the middle of projects that go with the projected or the project reminded me to do. Lol. It's always craziness.... the problem with that is I tend to be a 90%er. Love to see someone else being realistic and themselves. I also know I do it but can't stop myself. Thank you for this project. I have a couple old yard sticks that used to be my grandfather's but only 2or 3. I wanted to do a project with them that I could keep for myself but had no ideas without having alot of them. This is perfect.
oh my goodness, this was entirely delightful! I enjoy your more "organized" videos, but I really LOVE this type where you're a little bit all over the place and the project turns out wonderfully in the end anyway. "You live, you learn, or you don't" - that's usually what happens to me, too, as well as rudely interrupting myself!
Besides this video being entertaining,I love this notions box!. I don’t know what I like the most? That it’s vintage looking, or all the small compartments, but the bobbin dowel rod piece you put in there is brilliant because I have a clear acrylic box that holds my bobbins and they roll all over the place and the thread never stays put! Ugh! So thank you Nik! Once again you have gifted us a fun and creative project!❤️
This was so interesting - and entertaining. I'm totally with you on the side issues that stretch out projects. And the having to start over when you could be nearly done. And send me an invitation to the antisocial, pagoda-ed island. Just make sure we are amply stocked with french fries. I can survive anything as long as there are french fries. See you there!
It’s always a pleasure watching your videos I always know I will love your project and of course your comments and or stories. I thank you for your time and talent. Hope your day is a perfect temperature and you feel magical.🌷🧚👍
Super cute boxes, Nik! I'm so sorry about your lupus, your heart etc. I really am. I'm really happy to see you hear, still creating. I hope you have a healthy, pain free, sun/cold protection and joy forever. I love you and your videos. I have MS and haven't crafted in years. So, I watch your videos and am happy when I hear "hi guys."
Super cute! Love the storytelling throughout the process. Glad you abandoned the hot glue for the most part as I was waiting for you to say it wasn't very sustainable. Ha ha ha! I'm not a big fan of hot glue for the most part. Admittedly, it has its place in the creative world, I just don't find it the best option for most things if you want them permanent. Cute project! Thanks for sharing.
" A place for everything and everything in it's place". You totally amaze me young lady, with all the health issues you have had to deal with in this life and you are still going strong. You go girl - slay that dragon and give it some punches from me too. I really appreciate that you still want to take the time to share your time with us Nik fans out here. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
I made a yardstick recipe box for my mom when I was 19 (almost certain the original pattern was from Aleene and family), using the kind of yardsticks that are pre-varnished and wood glue (you'll be so glad you switched glues!). I highly recommend not staining your first box! It's been more than 30 years, and I now have a beautiful naturally aged heirloom that has stood the test of time.
I too am a human cyclone. I can't take much sun either because migraine, and my system does not tolerate extreme temperatures. I love this. digging through my stash.
This is gold!!! Love this. I'm a box girl. Thanks for sharing. You could glue a lil magnet next to the pin cushion on the inside and have your needle threader stuck to the outside of the box with the magnet. 😊
Use wood glue for strength alongside hot glue for convenience of holding 'whilst you work' Just found you and slightly binge watching 😅😅😅. Loving it 🙏🙏👍👍
I’m glad I’m not alone!! I have Raynaud’s, so I prefer to stay inside all winter long with my three pairs of socks, two pairs of pants! And if you see a crazy person walking around in the summer with a heavy sweatshirt on…it’s just me..because it’s never warm enough! Also, yes cellulitis is no joke- my son was admitted for 7 days because of orbital cellulitis! Not good at all. Never let any dr stitch you up without cleaning the wound first. His face was huge for three full days, and two surgeries later, he was finally back to normal. Love the box, now I need to go dig in my messy storage room to find that yardstick I know I have 😂 Love your videos- can’t wait for mystery story crafting day!!
Hey Nik! Loved the video. I'm an older gal with the same issues, lupus, Psoriatic Arthritis ( my crazy immune system) , Fibro I totally get it. ( We also think I have Raynauds as well) Thanks for putting that out there. It took me a long time to find something I love doing and can fit in with my health issues. I have days I can just watch videos and days I can make special things. It definitely helps knowing someone else is going through the same. Stay safe. Love and light, Wendy
Ugh, its like a never-ending cycle of wow, right? My doc told me a couple weeks ago that I also have fibromyalgia, as well. Can't say I was surprised. With all the trauma of auto-immune dysregulation and heart failure, its no wonder my sympathetic nervous system is freaking out. I have a theory that those of us who have ADHD might be more prone to developing fibromyalgia since they are both affected by sluggish neurotransmitters. Hope you're well tonight, Wendy =)
