I think I've watched all your videos at least once or twice over the past three years.... and yet each new one *still* provides new ideas, improved methods, helpful tips and tons of inspiration. The way you attached the signatures in this journal (in the previous video) is brilliant and the cover alteration you shared in this one is simply lovely! I also appreciate the mention of restraint in journal-making. Of course, everyone loves a beautiful "look book" and enjoys finding surprizes in unexpected places.... but we need to leave them some space so their life journey can create its own beauty there. Thanks, again, Nik, for all you share with us. You're priceless!!
Thank you. I’m a beginner and your approach is the one that resonates with mine : I want my journals to be first of all practical, useful while also being nice to look at and browse through. Thank you also for being so clear in your demonstrations. Your videos are the best for me so far… (and by far 😉)…❤
Always a pleasure watching your mind in mind in motion. I had a chuckle when you mentioned the song "Paint it Black" with a red book... I see a red door and I want it painted black...just saying, lol.
I'm with everyone else, your videos seem to fly by because I get so engrossed in what you're doing. I love what you did with the cover and spine, they're such great touches.
I wish I had the patience for doing this. I'm terrible at measuring and cutting. I also don't have the tools, supplies and papers. I admire your mad journal skills.
You actually read my mind, I wanted something pretty but with no fussy frilly bits. Having dyslexia is hard enough without the distraction! Thank you you showed me I can have both. Nikki xx
Omg you crack me up! ‘’You know…whatever this is called…the patterned paper.” It’s even more amusing in 2X speed. I desperately want to try this project. I might be hitting up an old bookstore next week…
Hello Nik, how are you doing today young lady? I pray that you are having a good day. Thanks for doing these kind of videos, I find them inspirational and educational. I prefer these and your previous videos of your journal flip throughs over the crime drama videos, mainly because there is just way too much drama in the world already, my mind & body just can't deal with that anymore. I have a bunch of your video tutorial projects I want to do so very much, just so I can say "I made that" before I die. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
Omg it was like you read my mind. I have been trying to find a solution for my pocket tucks. Such a great idea to score the paper twice so that I can have a little room to tuck in a photo.
I think you're the only channel of the thousand or so I'm subscribed to that I actually never miss watching a video, at regular speed no less. I enjoy your tutorials and how you decorate them way past where I would stop, and enjoy your thoughts on the criminal stuff too. Thank you!!
So glad to see a journal that could be made a bit more simply, yet beautiful and with utility in mind. All of your videos are informative and bring out one's imagination. Thankful.
You are absolutely Brilliant! I love your attention to detail. I was thinking the same thing with the Oval you cut out and gluing it to the back of the black one so it would slip down into the cutout and then you did it... That is awesome... I will definitely be saving this for future reference. Take care... Now to watch the next video.
like my 9th grade haircut 🤣 Nik thank you for sharing the photos of your Grandparents and your Mom - they were very special to see - ❣your journal cover came out beautiful - absolutely beautiful and yes i've been inspired by the cover and what you did inside - thank you for the tip on how to create a Rolodex card - be well xx
You had me at "Blind Mellon" (you mentioned a long time ago) I've been a lurker forever! I've learned the value of like, comment on RUclips. I owe you a lot of likes! But from now on! You are so amazing! I think in real life We'd be friends! Lol Thank you for your videos!
It's funny I remember feeling sick when my Uncle brought out the projector for a slideshow. Now I see slides and think I wish I had some of the old family slides. Great ephemera Nic. Blessings, positive vibes and peace for all who need it in these unsure times! Namesta ✌️🐞🕉️
Sooo great to have your vid. I like your content, your expertise, your communication skills, and your personality! I mostly really like your aesthetic! Keep going!🦌💌❤️📚🥰🤪
Thank you for this!!! You were my first inspiration to begin making junk journals. I adore all the older videos where your journals were about characters....they always had a story attached to them. This "refresher" reminded me of what I love to do best! You are the true definition of being a teacher. BTW, I'm loving your true crime discussions while you're crafting!
shoo i started a journal back in 2013, i made the cover and binding and flaps and the whole whole shebang, but i never fished it nor did i decorated it, i kept adding other book cover and all that but three days ago i found you and then i found my book i was working on and the heat and cold glued itself together and not even in a good way, that ended up in the trash bin in a quick fast hurry, but i been collecting stuff now for a serious journal
Excellent job Nik! Again, some fantastic tips. Time to get busy myself! I have all the goodies but lack the confidence to start one. I have a dear friend who is going to receive my first journal. Thank you!!!!!!
I think I actually said out loud, "OMG! The Kodiak slides!!!" How's that for a trip down Memory Lane?! I think you could do a "Booksmith Top 10" of sorts.
@@NiktheBooksmith I have a large number of the viewfinder round things 3 d picture stories or nature photos. I could certainly use those. Some excellent ideas!
Thank you again for another great tutorial on making a junk journal out of an old book. I have never made one but after part one and your great instructions I'm ready! Went to the Goodwill and purchased a used book and I will finally try it. Most of all thank you for all that you share with us...especially during this very difficult time. You are wonderful!! Stay safe and well and be happy.😘
'How to cure syphilis', lol! Kids can be sneaky. As a teen, I wrote of my escapades in my diary using Greggs Shorthand. A clue for a potential nosey mom that I was doing something of which she wouldn't approve. I can still read most of it. Hidden pockets would have been amazing! PS: Love Rolling Stones "Paint it Black".
my first thought: "OH I have those cute pink clips" then continued to laugh as you say you can get these from the dollar store and THEN you go on to say they aren't even a dollar anymore which are my thoughts exactly thank you
Thanks Nik for your comments at the end of the video. I enjoy watching all the videos on how to make complicated pockets and fold outs , etc., but I don't put them in my own journals because they aren't practical. I appreciate the clean lines and usefulness of your journals. Love your style!
Once again Nik, I am captured by your work. I love your preciseness. You’re so much fun to listen to and make me howl with laughter. The overlays are so funny. Thanks Nik 🦸
Nik, this is a fantastic video!!! Sure helps out newbies and never hurts to watch one of your videos regardless 💕💕💕 You're one amazing & talented lady and I am inspired by you daily, my friend!!! Thank you for sharing your incredible knowledge and wonderful experience with with us...you're so very appreciated 💕🌸🥰
Hi Nik, your such a fun lady to watch, thank you for doing this video because I sent you a new junk journaler. And this was perfect for her. See ya next time. Bye👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I really like your style, clean lines are wonderful and full of possibilities. I want to make a junk journal, but don’t know what I would DO with it. The act of creating it appeals, but seems wasteful if I don’t use it. I don’t know any journalers…
So love your attention to detail. Great photos and gives me some inspiration to make one. I always wonder what people do with junk journals. I have been saving "stuff" to make one but wondered what I would do with it. I love this idea since my hubby passed last August. Thinking about putting something together as a memento or making one for each of my children. Thanks again.
I love this 2 part series🥰! You definitely made it look simple to do. But you also made the embellishments easy. The book 📕 is not stuffed to the gills! I could actually use it as a writing ✍️ journal and add more things😁! Thank you for sharing, take care 🤗💕!
Showing us tips that you've learned along the way and sharing with us we really appreciate it.
Catywhampus, hitch in my gitalong, stove up...all old west sayings, love that you still use this vernacular. Lol, thanks for sharing. Very helpful.🤗🙃

Thanks, Becky! I wish I had noticed they weren't in focus >.
That ship has sailed like my 9th grade haircut!! 🤣🤣🤣 I had bad haircuts in school, the mom did kinds!! 🤣🤣🤣
I love the irreverent style of your videos! I'm a rule-breaker as well and it's so much fun.
Your junk journal is quality and classy looking I really like the antiquey touches you add, really love the cover and your rollodex card
The surprises you share midway are sweet, good photos!
Stones and Rossetti and bookmaking in the same video. 💕💕💕
Odd bedfellows, right? Its funny the things we're drawn to. =)
I love this video....there's so much info. I like how you show us how to make several things...one right after the other. Thanks!!!!!

I’m going to try and make one of these. It’ll be my first one. Love the video
Am I suddenly a booksmith groupie? Are there booksmith groupies? Hah. I've been watching these videos for hours and I can't stop. :)
Omg you crack me up! ‘’You know…whatever this is called…the patterned paper.” It’s even more amusing in 2X speed. I desperately want to try this project. I might be hitting up an old bookstore next week…

Here I am diligently listening to your process and you make a comment about the label “curing syp**lus” and now I’m cracking up! Lol

Love your style of making a journal. I am a neat freak and it’s difficult for me to be messy. The pictures of your family are precious.

Same here I'm almost finished with the construction of my 1st journal...can't wait to fill the pages!!!
I love these additions. I especially like the small gussets you create for depth and extra space. The slides pickets are so fun!!! TFS😍
