I have a suggestion. If you know you want a 2" notch in the top, you might try punching the notch prior to gluing.

Have you read this book? Make sure you cover up some of the more graphic wording. Lol. Thank you for making this easy to follow video. I make junk journals but for some reason altered books tend to be a challenge for me. Looking forward to more inspiration

Hey Ms. Lilly, another good video. I saw your Christmas junk journal and I had to try this. I’m a big reader so that 1st page was hard to rip, lol. But I made it….hand was shaking the 1st couple of pages 😅. But I like the fact that you use every part of the book and you show how to use the ripped out pages as journal tags or pages to write on❤ Thank you!! I really enjoy your channel.

BEST altered book tutorial that I have seen. You make it look doable for me, thank you so much for explaining everything in detail! I feel like I can do this now! However, I have a question for you on another video. It was one of your recent flipthroughs, not sure which one, but you mentioned you sealed the digital paper on the cover with mod podge. I tend to use a lot of digitals and I am wondering how to do this process of sealing with mod podge. Would it be possible to make a short tutorial whenever you are working with digitals again? I love your channel! You are such a joy to watch and listen to. I love your positivity and your smile!

Absolutely obsessed with your stuff! You’re great! I think I watched your Christmas altered book 1st before I discovered this one. Because I asked how to pull out the pages from that one. Ha ha ha. Anyway, I do have a question, though about the front and back inside covers do you change those papers or do you just leave whatever the book has in there? If you do change the colors of those inside pages, can you tell me how you do that? Is it just one piece, or do you peace them in? Thanks!!!
Hello and thank you so much for your kind words! The inside of the book was already lined with this amazing paper however, I have lined the inside covers with decorative paper. I measure the height and width of the inside cover and cut accordingly. I may leave a 1/4" border all around and then glue in place. I hope you find this helpful and give it a go. Thank you for being here and watching my videos. 😊
I don't take out so many pages in between gluing them. I think that's why pages buckle (too much space in between them). I may glue 2 or 3 pages together, then take out 2, or take out one, in between 2, and glue them together, hiding the torn out edges.
You can also cut out 2 pages, in different lengths, leaving about an inch, or more of a page, in the spine, then glue a scrapbook page, in between the 2 cut out pages.
You can also add one scrapbook page, or a variety of other pages to every 2 cut out pages, with some made into various types of pockets, as you go.
I think having various lengths, evens all the pages out better, hiding ripped out ones, rather than collapsing the spine, or making the spine too thick, by taking out too many pages, if that makes sense.
These are great tips. Thank you for sharing your techniques. I've altered many different ways and my methods will continuously evolve. The best part is experimenting. Thank you!
