What a difference the envelope makes. Thanks for this video.
Feedback: when doing the before/after please do 3-5 seconds of before followed by 3-5 seconds of after, some of those before/after examples seemed all over the place and hard for the untrained ear to catch differences so quickly.
👍
@@Streaky_com is there an equivalent to Logic's enveloper in Ableton?
Same question if anyone knows the Ableton equivalent
@@Enocular Likewise Studio One..
Or flstudio
what is a plugin similar to the enveloper?
Transient designer
Thank you so much. It is amazing!!!
I'm not in the studio, but on the TV the sound began to fart!
May need some Beano.
Wondering which equivalent settings would apply for the bx_limiter here. And THX for these great insights, Streaky!
Streaky setting it straight! Thanks, man.
Dude I love your videos , think I've watched about 10hrs at this point. Always concise and useful without fluff. Niceone mate
my problem is i'm just too lazy to be doing all this xD
are you putting reverb on a BUS? so kick as well? and this is the first plugin in the chain?
It’s louder, and punchier, but without the effects it has more emotion and moves me more. Anyone else?
Adjust the mix percentage of the FX at will and get the best of both worlds?😊
In the context of a mix though it probably would require more punch from the effects. This technique also buys you more headroom while gaining a lot of perceived loudness
@@LLAWREN Yeah maybe!
@@moosescarf You’re probably right
@@maximusfrank2835 Thanks, yeah its kinda unfortunately, but I've realized in many cases a more overcompressed sound isolated tends to sound better in a mix. of course NOT ALWAYS, but in the context of EDM, you're just trying to squeeze in as much headroom as possible in order to squeeze out as much loudness as possible
❤ Richard harrison I love your videos you making music so nice
Much love for this
How about Smack attack also
thanks
Nice ! I like the pumping reverb setting on the enveloper when I’m mixing percussion
..just tried your trick on logic x....omg what a difference..thank u so much Streaky!!!
Correct me if I'm wrong. To glue drums together you use the envelope filter but with this technique you set the limiter AFTER the transient designer. Am I right? But you set the limiter first and then the envelope shaper?
I'm bit confused. Thank you for clarification
The envelope is NOT meant to glue the drums together but make the attacks punchier! ;-)
@@ReformedWhiteKnight but by applying multiband envelope shaper on the drum bus and subtly modifying attack/release on couple of bands you make the whole drums to sound more cohesive, glued bit more together
I think the idea here is not even out the really sharp transients so you get a more even punch when using the enveloper. Which would make it sound more cohesive
Excellent tutorial! How would you compress the drum bus if it doesn’t contain the kick (I bus my kick and bass together)? Would you activate kick SC on the drum bus compressor? Cheers
Solid tips mate saughted my drums right out ☝️
"here's before and after: BADASS GROOVE"
🙏🙏🙏
Punchy drums: use the KNOCK plugin. :)
How about some tips for acoustic drum recordings? Thanks
NICE! Can you show this in Pro-Tools with their plugins?
how could you use the logic compressor for same type of limiting?
Where and or how would you work in parallel compression into this approach? Thank you!
You can still bus the drums to another parallel track and add more compression, if that's what you're wondering. You also have the option to use that parallel compression track pre or post fader if you do/don't want all of the processing used in the video to be further compressed by any additional compressors. Just dial in each stage gently and gradually. Or even slam the sh!t outta them. Your call.
Parallel processing is overrated.
Thanks a lot! Great tips 😊
amazing🙂
Missed some videos lately. Looks like you’ve been living life got ya self a tan and little beard going on haha
Great video as always streaky. Il be spending a few months on mixing and not making beats and remixing soon and will be studying your channel and taking some courses . Doing the lords work streaky 😉👌🏻✌🏻
bless up STEAKY you are a blessing me.
Thanks, very cool enhancement trick ...
Cheers streaky, right where im at atm
Thanx! this is a really working method
Good work mate!
Thank you for your videos, much appreciated!!
love this trick , works perfectly! Thank you, cheers!
Thanks for the video!
I am just wondering about the attack time of the FF limiter… it’s on max. Is that right? And also it’s set to 16 times over sample and dither…
Which FF limiter settings vid
Cool stuff, thx mate.
I was a signed artist/remixer for UMG and Moonshine doing EDM. I learned a trick from Brian Transeau BT, you take the first wave cycle of your kick drum and slice it at the top of the wave cycle then grab the upper most part and make it a steep slope back to the zero crossing - It should look like a angled straight line from the top of the cut cycle down to the zero crossing. It's hard to put into words how to do it maybe you can Google his method? What it does is make that kick really pop.
Ok will do
@@Streaky_com Here at 4 minutes 51 seconds, only the way I learned it is to draw a angled line down to the zero crossing from the top of the wave form - make the angle pretty steep.

Streaky thank you for the tutorial, please can you do a review of a behringer wing mixer and it’s plug-ins?
Cheers 👍 Unfortunately I’m not doing reviews currently
Nice. . Will do.!!!
❤ from Burundi 🇧🇮
Thanks ❤️🔥
Is there any benefit to this approach on real drums?
It’s the same
Huge improvement.
Sweet
Thanks Streaky!
WOW!!!
You could also use just better samples in stead of fixing a pile of crap into a golden ring.
How much gain reduction on the limiter?
Put it in unity gain bring it down to take just a bit off the peaks and not so you hear it sucking
Awesome content as always
Will this work with trap drums?
All drums
That is NOT a studio tan!
😂😂
Has your hair got darker in the sun?
No I dye it
Hey Streaky lovin' your videos man, can you make a video about mixing bass like in "Charlie Puth - Attention"?
Streaky do a video on vocal mixing plss 🫶🙏
Too bad we cant see how many dislikes this video has.
I concur. Streakys info is lifeless without the disagreement of the people who didn't get it 😐
What not to get explain?
@@Streaky_com exactly! 🤦🏿♂️ I don't understand what the dislike counter has to do with it either
