So I'm assuming farming xp works the same as gathering xp, in which you get XP based on how many UNIQUE items you get per action, and each unique item has its own xp value. If this is the case, getting the actual "prune" action is probably better than the "kill insects" action, since pruning can proc leaves/monks branch (at least on plants, I'm not sure what it does on mushrooms) whereas insects just gives you like, bugs and twigs which probably have lower XP values and not as many unique items. The game tells us that tangling is more likely when there are more plants in a single plot. Assuming the tooltip is actually correct (and other farmers I've talked to think that it is) that means that maximizing pruning actions can be accomplished by using large farms instead of medium farms. However, to FURTHER max pruning actions, you would actually want to put your farms in a GOOD humidity area, since you can't get a prune action if the crop gets blight (insects) first. By lowering the chance to get blight, you give your crops more chances to get tangled (prune) instead, although if you are checking your farms very frequently (like every 15 minutes) this will lower the number of total actions. The tradeoff is that even though you are doing fewer actions, you would get more XP per action. I don't know if the increased XP but lower volume of prune actions would actually beat the decreased XP but higher volume of blight, but I just thought I would throw that out there, if Blade or someone else wants to test it. Might be possible to min-max your XP even further. If you are checking your farms less than once per hour, I would say without even testing it that pruning (and therefore placing in a good humidity area) is almost certainly superior. Plus the materials (weeds) are more useful. Also, I don't think temperature affects your chance to get pruning or blight. I think it just makes the crop grow slower. Not 100% sure on that but I feel like someone tested it a while ago. So basically more plants in a single farm = more tangles, and bad humidity = more blight. No other factors as far as I know. Welcome back to RUclips BB
Good thinking! The kill insects options still gives the caterpillars, hards, sharps, trade item and most importantly another chance ofr mysterious seeds which really crank exp so insects vs untangle are close on exp but still with less items over so you are right! As for the exp being based on unique items vs amount of items I do not know. If thats how gathering works does that mean a gather with identical sets of 5 items but one has 4 rough stones and the other has 2 rough stones will be equal in exp exactly?
Yea thats exactly how it works. This is why pilgrims is so good for gathering xp - you get XP for each unique item, copper ore, zinc ore, gold ore, gems, etc. regardless of quantity. A stack of 1 and a stack of 4 are the same XP - it just comes down to how many different items there are, and some items are vastly different in XP (regular ores are like 200 xp and I think gems or special ores go as high as 1000)
Thats really interesting! I didn't know that about gathering exp thanks, it does seem the same in farming then. And I just read the rest of your first message, didn't see the read more before lol. So you are saying the entangled state is almost like a virus and is "catching" between plants so if you wanted to check less often, planting in maybe the desert where there never are insects would give you maximum exp yield per action? I think that makes sense if thats how the entanglement works, which I haven't discovered one way or the other so thats good new info. After posting this on reddit, and getting overall positive feedback (did you ever think we'd see the day?! LOL) Fam mentioned that on average blight is about 10% less exp than pruning so strictly for exp this Heidel spot is probably ideal for active farmers still. You're right about the temperature as well as it affects grow time and shouldn't be relevant much for exp other than it allows for added prune time between resets. You definitely gave me interesting things to think about, thanks dude
I missed blade on bdo. He was the best bdo RUclipsr. I remember when this video came out and I did as it instructed and I made it on the same life skill ranking list as him! Truly the best guides out there. Thanks blade.
I use this guide and level my alt from beginner1 to artisan 1 in less than 2 days. With 8 strong fences, a value pack, a free event buff and a farmer's cloth(free from challenge). Extremely helpful! Thx dude
An update, i just did beginner to artisan 1 in less then 12 hours with your method but I planted frogan marsh just across the river from eastern gateway
in a normal situation, where logic is applied, i'd expect the best crop to be the hardest to grow, requires more maintenance, etc. But there's no maintenance necessary in BDO, it's just a matter of time. And who really farm 100% optimized? We all just come back after a few hours to grab the good stuff
hey blade, good to see you, but sorry you are doing it wrong. morronlan was onto something in the pinned reply but not quite there. Bear with me, I am an amateur with fences but always had them running since the game released. The main thing is this. You get more tangles (prune) when you use different seeds in the same fence, meaning mix them. It's mentioned in game somewhere (either the seeds or fence) and it's what morronlan seems to be aware of but reading incorrectly, or understanding the wrong way, or it's worded incorrectly. I don't remember, but it works. It's not just bigger fences, it's mixing seed types. It would work in a 4 slot fence as much as a 10 slot. To be clear, in the same fence don't go all seeds of the same type, say arrow mushroom x10, or sunflower x10 in a 10 slot fence. You go 1 of each if you want to go crazy ( 1 arrow mushroom, 1 carrot, 1 wheat etc), but even 9 + 1 works. The humidity causes more insects, so ideally every fence in good humidity but mixed seed types for more pruning chances and less insects. On another note, this also works very well when you want to stack up on weeds (and not going for exp). What you do is mix the seeds in a 10 slot fence and put a worker on it. He will drain his stamina very quickly and produce a decent amount of weeds, since he has to prune every 3 minutes. Which is a thing btw, unless you mentioned it and i missed it and unless it's changed recently, the prune or incest proc happen at 3 minute intervals ( probably like energy ticks).
Nice Guide on farming - super convenient that the best way to power level farming also results in fruits of nature, which we should all be storing for Manos gear! (Fruit of nature > Oil of Fortitude> twilight laden fabric)
Ah thanks! Shai will help with that life skill for sure, they gave it the bonus xp rate to catch up and surpass all the people working on it far longer. Glad you enjoy the channel, the channel will eventually change, but Ill always keep the BDO stuff up for the next generation
I've been playing almost from startup, at one point farmers recommended sticking with only white seeds since the green/blue are more resistant to bugs/conditions. It seems like they've taken out bird strike don't think I've seen a bird strike message in a very long time. Another thing I've heard a few times is that you should farm on node war channels (which I believe you are, didn't i see Bal 3 in this video?) because for whatever reason node war channels "tick" more often when the game checks for conditions. I seem to see a difference but I can't really prove it without a lot of experimentation. Thanks for the great video, using the purple mushrooms and the lovely new artifacts and lightstones and all those nice leaves that fall with breeding now I've put two levels of master farming on in two days also use sute tea or one of the other xp improve items. Life books would be nice too but I tend to save those for cooking/alchemy.
BTW off topic a little, but if someone decides to give you a "lovetap" (lol) like in this video, or actually try to PK you while Farming, just step a few feet towards the riverbank and you're in Heidel safe zone. (Then switch channels or whatever)
Thanks for the guide but would you be so kind and hide your cooldown ui? you can just uncheck the eyes to hide it and it would make viewers actually focus on whats going on instead of seeing those strange icons all over the screen.
good guide. do you still recommend all of this being the same for taking advantage of this 100% life xp event? once art 1 i want to switch to farming being afk so afk mushrooms north of loggia after that or what crops do you recommend for afk passive money?
Not the fastes way, kinda close but not the top. The grow time dnt matters for how fast u get the chance to prune - only humidity. Pruning the fastes way by far no doubt to level - but there are couple seed that have higher humidity Factors than 8%. Sure u need to Step into bed to keep up with energy and transfer ur energy to ur farm char/buy it but if u wanna go fast af to Artisan + a other seed and other location ;) But still ur way is a nice one - very simple, step by step and even sm1 who never picked up bdo would knw how to follow. And catapillar could be used for some stuff - like a daily in velia at the docks - free 150 or 200 cp exp. Like i said good effort - very simple to follow and quite good - just "the best way to level" got me triggert a little.
When I was farming back in the day before I quit I transported my fences to just outside dudora villa. I planted them at the base of the hill (back way into the grinding area for sulfur)- it’s hell on crops. So I could run up and clear a few packs of mobs, run down and prune and whatnot. It took me to artisan 9 in absolutely no time. You just have to take your fences over and come back and get more since you can’t get fences in Valencia. Not sure how it would work now but it worked really well.
A ton. I chose a spot that was high heat, high humidity. It was horrible conditions for farming, every time the 5 mins (or whatever is was) timer was up, 80% of my crops needed tending.
As a matter of fact, I had to drop down from 10 fences to 7, because I couldn’t tend them all at certain times before the timer was up, so I was wasting changes for my crops to become infested or need pruning because I still had plants that were red.
Hey man! Your T9 min/Max steps are still the most straightforward guide to T9 mats. What are the principles behind knowing what the best steps are for T9 mats? (Considering this is 2.5 years old and there may have been changes). What should I be looking for to farm for t9 mats the fastest?
Great Video I just wanted to add that you should have your 5 pets on stay with Life xp, farming or both. This is for people like me who rotate pets per situation. If you stick with farming it is great and the best 100 cp you can spend in my opinion.
Just a FYI for renting small fence, the process has changed. You now get an error message stating Cannot find corresponding NPC name when trying to search for Fence in the search menu.
Since you re-labeled this as 2021 I thought it would be nice to mention it's no longer a requirement to be Artisan 1 for Old Moon Fences, but Master 1. Don't know if it was always like this and you just made a mistake (not a farmer myself, just deciding to stop buying horses and start making my own) but it's Master 1.
Thanks, good catch! Sadly I just mispoke and never caught it. So that was wrong since 2018. I don't use a script I just talk for 20-30minutes and hope I cover everything lol. Fortunately since the goal of the guide is to powerlevel and get the level you want as fast as possible, I didn't think the verbal error was much of an issue as people can just keep going to the level necessary. It was an honorable mention at best so people knew there were smaller fences later. Anyway good catch, and you are right, but now that it's uploaded it can't be changed.
I did have "BTW Old Moon Fences are Master 1 not Artisan 1, misspoke in explaining it and didn't catch it lol! Thats how extemporaneous guides go though" in the description since the day I uploaded it lmao, doesn't do much but it's somewhere at least.
@@BladeBoques True. =) I just usually give up on reading descriptions of high-end streamers or RUclipsrs usually filled with spam of own merc or other links, sometimes just general comp. setup instead of an actual description xD. Glad to see you use it! I'll keep an eye out on the rest of your guides too.
sooo i know its old video and such, but just a heads up, if you dont have the old moon fences, you wont be able to place all 10 big fences in this place, should be mentioned i think (or im a dumdum and dno how to do it)
Just place them further west if they aren't fitting. They should fit since its what I did. Being 3 years ago I don't know if it's shown or not, but good luck
I just tried this today and for Purple Mushrooms the humidity is terrible north of Loggia Farm with 8% and great south of Heidel with 1%. Did they change the humidity in the zones because 2 months ago people were saying this guide is accurate. Also with faster grow times that means more breeding which gives the most xp if I understand that right. I'm I wrong in my conclusion?
Then for this again you want max prunings not shorter breed time IF going for exp. The humidity is only good or bad relative to the seed so double check your purple mushroom sliders and see if the water level is just outside ideal. If it is outside it, you're all set to continue using Heidel for this
Sorenkair I mentioned it briefly in the video but increased humidity does not increase pruning opportunities. So as long as you are out of ideal range you get max exp, so that is the closest spot to a city with bad conditions. Thanks for watching!
I Remember placing my farm across from heidel next to the scare crows xD back when sharps were worth some good money. Only problem was the violent scarecrow is suicidal and attacks you while harvesting.
hi, is there any other usage for special purple mushroom hypha? cauz you always get more than the amount you need to refill your fences by breeding, they dont realy sell at the market.
@@BladeBoques so, its not that worth it to prune after reaching master11... i think i must plant magical with fastest growing time... thanks! edit: oh, nvm. prune any seeds is better than breeding any seeds
There are a few Farming dailies as well in Velia and Heidel, that give CP exp, Farming exp, and energy: www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/8mea37/help_with_farming_dailies_quests/ I usually AFK fish overnight in Heidel where I have my fences, then sell my fish in Velia where I turn in the farming dailies there. (You'll need caterpillars and twigs from farming)
I was thinking wheat it’d help make beer when biproducts drop too. I was also thinking special mane grass or w.e because it seems to grow faster then wheat if I read it right. And if it is faster then wheat, would outside of Heidel like the mushrooms be sub optimal for it for constant pruning
This method has not been outdated and one of people's fav guides of my lifeskill coverage. I added in 2021 to the title last week so new people will realize it's the answer to their questions and relevant now. GL farming!
So what you`re doing is place "Special Purple Mushroom Hypha" then waiting til 200 percent, meanwhile u kill pests or prune then get all the hyphas. You continue this all the time til u get these special seeds. And the special seeds are for 100 % to get fruits ?
mpcabanlit the seeds he used. Purple mushroom I believe. Any variant is fine just the best you can afford, normal, high quality, special. Special being the best form.
yea actually i just spend my loyalty for storage, and even we need to spend money on pearl shop its not that expensive for storage only 300 for 8 slots and sometimes we got 2 or 3 storage on different area the example like you can get heidel 8 glish 8, and at this time we got discount, or maybe you can use wagon to leave all your stuff on it, thats what i do, well its depends on that player if they are smart enough to take an advantage from playing without p2w items ☻
No, breeding is the only way to get T9 mats. You get the most north of loggia, with organic fertilizer and purple mushrooms with workers tending them so they arent growing slower from pruning needs.
Because germination is the act of growing from a seed, and breeding to the act of mixing the sperm/pollen to produce seeds/reproduce. Germination happens during plant breeding.
You should be more impressed 4 months became 30minutes haha. Everything can be learned and delivered differently, as for me? I'm GOING BLADE STYLE! Thanks for watching.
@@BladeBoques yea sorry if sounded rude, and of course its your choice to make the videos you like. I am just fan of shorter videos :) also tried to put my farms where you placed them and scratching my head how you managed put them in that place until i found out that at master 1 i can get smaller 10 slot farms hehe. So you might also want to say this for noobs like me! (Unless you already said it on the video and i missed it).
@@Earendel4 Very astute I missed that fact and heard it caused many people issues that there are smaller fences at Master. I did think that was known at the time, but its been... 6 years since I made this! I'm sure I would have said it much differently now, glad it helped a bit at least. Thanks for your time. In my opinion the only video I've made of my 300 worth watching is "Blade Boques Wagon Reveal" you'll get a kick from that one

For the person who liked it is viable
Yep! Good to go
I just tried this today and for Purple Mushrooms the humidity is terrible north of Loggia Farm with 8% and great south of Heidel with 1%. Did they change the humidity in the zones because 2 months ago people were saying this guide is accurate. Also with faster grow times that means more breeding which gives the most xp if I understand that right. I'm I wrong in my conclusion?
Also its not possible to place 10 x10 farms in a 4x4 block because of duel zones.
Then for this again you want max prunings not shorter breed time IF going for exp. The humidity is only good or bad relative to the seed so double check your purple mushroom sliders and see if the water level is just outside ideal. If it is outside it, you're all set to continue using Heidel for this
why exactly is that spot the worst? you can get higher humidity (more chance of blight) if you go a bit more south towards glish.
Sorenkair I mentioned it briefly in the video but increased humidity does not increase pruning opportunities. So as long as you are out of ideal range you get max exp, so that is the closest spot to a city with bad conditions. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the guide dude!
What is the benefit of getting to master in farming? What is the difference between master farms and those that are not master?
You need Master 1 for them, meant to say Master not Artisan
I Remember placing my farm across from heidel next to the scare crows xD back when sharps were worth some good money. Only problem was the violent scarecrow is suicidal and attacks you while harvesting.
And the question is...What to do with all those purple shrooms? As i checked i didnt see any option of doing crates of those type.Am i wrong?
Are there animation for planting seeds and watering them?
I'm not sure if this question dump cuz I'm kinda new to the game but is farming worth it thoe when you have nods & workers
Cand ma uit la video al tau ma plictisesc..
hi, is there any other usage for special purple mushroom hypha? cauz you always get more than the amount you need to refill your fences by breeding, they dont realy sell at the market.
i want to powerlevel farming to guru 5, should i go for the special onion seeds or magical onion seeds?
Neither, if you watched the video it would have explained that LOL. Between these two bad options, do special for more exp...
@@BladeBoques so, its not that worth it to prune after reaching master11... i think i must plant magical with fastest growing time... thanks!
edit: oh, nvm. prune any seeds is better than breeding any seeds
@@Koko_Jon lol, none of it's worth it. It's a game, but yes answer to your first question for fastest xp is continuous pruning. Have fun!
wrong, breeding gives most exp which can be regulated for faster breed times by other factors
Sweet! thanks for the guide man!
My boi Blade
Thanks for the guide Blade :) !
Hey blade with some of the recent "road to X silver from scratch/x silver" in bdo being quite popular. Ever thought of making one yourself?
Nope, In started from scratch in 2016, my journey ended Sep 12th 2020. That was my road
whats better special or magical seed for stonetail fodder mat?
Do you need to be master 1 to start getting matts T9 from breeding?
no
how to place fence like u? im trying to do that and i have statement "cannot place in a duel zone.....
What are those tents , there not there in my game
didn't know you were doing a video LOL
which npcs sells strong fence for 10cp? i only have 3 ., hrom heidel, altinova and calpheon
What should I be growing if I wanted the maximum possible byproducts?
2021 and im about to get in to this lol ...
Should still be helpful to learn how exp works :) Was there a Manos Farming set ever made?
@@BladeBoques no manos , and yea still works super easy to get artisan 1 and the nmove to velia and get the fodder farm goeing
Great work man. Been watching your BDO videos since the beginning of 2017. You should post some of these videos on the S T E E M I T platform.
3 days from Beginner to artisan? It took me 2 days to do the same thing, with just 4 strong fences.
Welcome to MMOs where the same thing in 2020 is faster than 2018. Thank you for your sentence.
@@BladeBoques lol I didn´t mean to be rude or anything. I´m quite new at the game and I was just wondering if I was doing something wrong.
There are a few Farming dailies as well in Velia and Heidel, that give CP exp, Farming exp, and energy:
www.reddit.com/r/blackdesertonline/comments/8mea37/help_with_farming_dailies_quests/
I usually AFK fish overnight in Heidel where I have my fences, then sell my fish in Velia where I turn in the farming dailies there. (You'll need caterpillars and twigs from farming)
hump mushroom growing faster than purple btw
GREAT VID
Good stuff, only problem is that the market is saturated with seeds and no one is buying
Where can I get purple mushroom without buying on the market ?
valencia somewhere
What do you want a high farming level for more procs or what??
For ps4 launch, do you have another plant to grow? I believe the purple mushrooms are in the desert update later.
PaceOfSnell I used wheat to power level
Hey blade. I only on Xbox. Can you tell me what to power level with. Purple mushrooms aren’t on Xbox yet.
any fast growing crop that takes 1 slot, wheat is a great alternative
I was thinking wheat it’d help make beer when biproducts drop too. I was also thinking special mane grass or w.e because it seems to grow faster then wheat if I read it right. And if it is faster then wheat, would outside of Heidel like the mushrooms be sub optimal for it for constant pruning
BladeBoques bump^
Change a 2018 to a 2021 video and boom youtube recommends
This method has not been outdated and one of people's fav guides of my lifeskill coverage. I added in 2021 to the title last week so new people will realize it's the answer to their questions and relevant now. GL farming!
@@BladeBoques sorry i meant no offense ^^, i just meant that your tactic was effective :) nice video none the less
@@BladeBoques thanks for doing that.
to get magical seed need Strong Fences or old moon fences? thanks for answer
Satya Dewangga Any fence, you just must be at least Artisan 1 and be using special seeds
Great Video, Farming the Purple Mushrooms today for my Dream Horse. +1 Like +1 Sub
Is their a size difference in eu and na for strong fences? o.o because my strong fences are muuuucch bigger
I'm using Old Moon Fences that you can use at Master 1
oh rip okay ty blade :*, should watch the full Video :/
So what you`re doing is place "Special Purple Mushroom Hypha" then waiting til 200 percent, meanwhile u kill pests or prune then get all the hyphas.
You continue this all the time til u get these special seeds.
And the special seeds are for 100 % to get fruits ?
Hi just starting up bdo. What seed i can use for leveling to artisan?
mpcabanlit the seeds he used. Purple mushroom I believe. Any variant is fine just the best you can afford, normal, high quality, special. Special being the best form.
Is it worth using the CP to build a farm instead of using them towards workers?
depends on what you're objective is, if you want T9 mats then obv farming, but i believe money wise, workers is better
depends entirely on how efficient u get mats to through your farms
thank you
hello, what are the purple mushrooms for?
Hi, in your experience, what is the best way to get sharp and hard?
Just by gathering, and using fig pie for the 3% gathering item. Also use those life alchemy stones you can grind in kama.
Yeah this must be great after spending $100 or more on storage space so you can spend CP on the fences. 😂
loyalty. Just play the game.
yea actually i just spend my loyalty for storage, and even we need to spend money on pearl shop its not that expensive for storage only 300 for 8 slots and sometimes we got 2 or 3 storage on different area the example like you can get heidel 8 glish 8, and at this time we got discount, or maybe you can use wagon to leave all your stuff on it, thats what i do, well its depends on that player if they are smart enough to take an advantage from playing without p2w items ☻
It was great spending $100 on storage yes thank you! Must be great to be a YT commenter :D
Lemme guess, you found out this game is pay for """"convenience"""" last week did ya 😂
GOOD VID
Goin Bladestyle!
So you breed to get the most t9 mats ?
No, breeding is the only way to get T9 mats. You get the most north of loggia, with organic fertilizer and purple mushrooms with workers tending them so they arent growing slower from pruning needs.
@@BladeBoques Okay, thanks a lot for the reply!
can someone tell me which hoe is better logia or magic
Magic tools give innate 600 mastery so magic is better until you can go above that with your lifeskill gear.
@@realBarny thank you
Hey man where is the npc finder on xbox?
Open the map and press down on the d-pad and use rb to switch between which ones to select. After you select the npc press rt to path to it
10 cp strong fences dont really fit where you put em, but yeah good guide
They obviously fit there of I wouldn't suggest it. Move down onto the rocks as well and all 10 fit
really nice collection of various stuff, nice organised also, kinda loot hoarder, but you are still double worker tho kek
why does people call planting breeding instead of germinate lol
Because germination is the act of growing from a seed, and breeding to the act of mixing the sperm/pollen to produce seeds/reproduce. Germination happens during plant breeding.
@@frostdracohardstyle Makes sense thanks for explaining.
Yo Blade pls do Kirito cosplay with these swords xD
Wait is he back I’m lost
Where did I go? I'm lost
Best way to get mats for t9 is farming?
I would do anything!... BUT I WONT DO THAT!
0:44 lmao
excellent vid 💯:>)yo
This game doesn't deserve your content lol.
You guys.
30min video for information that could be delivered at max in 5min...
@@BladeBoques thanks! Will check it out! :)
thx for the vid im late to it so i hope this still works but im going to find out haha kappa
10:06 that face lol why???
