"Sonne" is pronounced "zone-ah" and translates "sunshine" or "sun". It was pulled directly from the text of Grimm's Tales for Children & Household, namely "Schneewittchen" (Snow White). When the prince came to the dwarves seeking Schneewittchen, he offered the dwarves all of the gold he had to let him take her with him. The dwarves responded to his offer, saying (loosely translated), "You could offer all the gold in the world and we would say no because she is our Sonne."
Sonne is sun. Not sunshine. Sunshine ist Sonnenschein.

The English translation is a bit faulty, in the sense that 'sun' is female in the German language, and that got lost. So it's not: "It's the brightest star of all" but "She is the brightest star of all". There is the double meaning that they were singing about Snow White here as the sun and basically worshipping her.
Actually it was written about a Boxer. Just bc sonne is a feminine noun, it doesn't mean it is about a woman

As you have understood, many Rammstein lyrics are ambiguous. This one not really, but you have to have some information. The song was written for the boxer Vitali Klitschko as entrance music. It was never used for that because it was too hard for Vitali ;). Sun stands for the boxer or his punching hand. "And the world counts loudly to 10..." knockout

My theory is that this song/video is referencing the band’s experience growing up under communism. The band’s members were born and grew up in East Germany during the occupation and started the band before the reunification of Germany.
There are interviews where the members discuss their experiences with this, having to work full time jobs while doing the band stuff on the side because the government didn’t view their music as “necessary” or “important”, and how that made them feel and other stuff like that.
They’re all very interesting and open during them too. Would recommend watching if you want to better understand the members as individuals and if you can find some of the ones with subtitles.
This truly is art.in a way,thats still appealing to Lots of people.

No, its NOT Ramsteen...its RAMMSTEIN.
It is pronounced "Son - ne". They way you said it at around ~ 7:28 was pretty close to the original pronounciation. 🙂
The "s" is usually not quite as sharp though. It might help to imagine it being spelled with a "z" (zonne).
i realized the video you are watching lacks the the third part of the song before the chorus. It normally plays in the part where they carry the coffin, interesting.

I have read, that the video was going to be them as the crew of the Enola Gay,flying to drop the bomb on Hiroshima. That would have fit better than this video. But for whatever reason, they decided not to go that route. I can't remember what the reason was, off the top of my head.
Well you can check it out at their "making off". First of all, this was originally in a book of the Grim brothers, who gathered several fairy tales, which are known since centuries. The original tales have a way darker side to it than Disney made of them. Also, Oli was once putting "Snow White" on to their song, just to have a look which affection it had. It was so out of the world, that they desided to drop the "Hiroshima-idea" and produce it in this stile. I really think this one shows it better, but that is just me. "fun fact" beside this, Flake, the keyboarder, described in one of his books, that they had to go to Australia right after they finished shooting this Video. They did not even had time for a shower to catch the plane and entered the plane like this!! You can guess, which attention they got. With the German Airline it was still fine, but they had a bit of a harder time to explain it to the American one. As they landet in Australia, they still looked in this way and people where wandering, why they came out the plane like that. 😂 Just imagine, next to you a bunch of guys with this make up on. Enjoy the rest of the day.
In german all letters are pronounced if you're interested. Example sonne (so neh) a light e sound no biggie just trying to help.

I never fully picked up why ten instead of seven dwarfs. Plus I do think she OD on gold but why does apple wakes her up?? (in fairy tale she falls asleep from the apple) and she is with seven dwarves. And she gets woken up by prince. Here apple wakes her up... Also she is fully exactly dressed up like SnowWhite in cartoon.
I guess only folks who fully know tale of SnowWhite will pick up on stuff.

Actually, the song was originally written as entrance theme for Ukrainian boxer Klitschko, him being the proverbial "sun" ... "Here comes the sun/He will not go down tonight" ... Hence the count to ten at the start of the song ... and the references to "putting ice on the face" etc. etc. etc. So, in short, it's a song about boxing. Shame Klitschko never used it ... pussy ... :D
It's remarkable that Till could write a song literally about a boxer, but the lyrics are so incredibly written that if I didn't know this fact I'd think it's about drugs or something like that. What an incredible poet he is

It's called Rammstein. You have to pronounce ...stein like the english "i" in kind. "ei" in german words is always "i" in english ones.
"Sonne" is actually about most members cocaine addiction.
