This song was actually originally meant to be a boxer’s entrance music but it was never used. The sun is him/his fists and that’s also why they count to ten a few times, like when a boxer knocks his opponent down and the ref starts counting
Wait, I thought it was about nuking Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Cause the song went through a number of different music video ideas, and the original one was supposed to be a video of the Atom bombs falling on Hiroshima and Nagasaki (the so called sun), which is why everyone is counting to ten since they’re counting down before they’re vaporized. Apparently the song went through like 40 different music video ideas (the second to last one being dedicated to the boxer), but then the band settled on Snow White making the dwarves her sex slaves with Stockholm syndrome since they watched Snow White at Oliver riedel’s house.
@@mikestelzer2027 that could be part of it, but my understanding was that the song is about nuclear warfare. I saw these live 20 years ago! They were INCREDIBLE. I saw comment from their Live in Paris tour that said "only rammstein could get thousands of French people singing in German" 🤣 they are iconic
FYI: If you want to hear some songs where "Flake" does the singing, you should check out "Langeweile"(Boredom), "Herzschrittmacher"(Pacemaker) & "Hässlich"(Ugly) by the Band Feeling B. Feeling B was a band that Flake & Paul where members of before Rammstein was a thing, and these 3 songs were solely recorded by both of them, hence why Flake is doing the singing. There's also the Video called "Rammstein: Flake Lorenz play a song in a German TV [CC/ English]", where Flake plays a song. It even has English subtitles. Though his singing isn't as good as Till or Richard's those songs are still very entertaining. Would be cool if you could check them out.
@Ken The female voice in the song is a keyboard sample from the Symphony of Voices music library by Spectrasonics. The riff was already included in the demo version of the song "Spiel mit mir".

I'll put it to you this way: I was NOWHERE near the stage and I felt like I was roasted, especially the left side of my face. I got baked. Literally.... and here I brought a jacket because I thought I might get cold! Ha!
AWESOME, AWESOME. You're reacting to RAMMSTEIN. PUPPE is an incredible song and an excellent vocal Performance. Just like OHNE DICH, RADIO, FRÜHLING IN PARIS, FEUER UND WASSER, WIENER BLUT (Wacken 2013) or DIAMANT PLEASE more RAMMSTEIN. P.S.: I subscribed 😉
Till has actually had 4 years of training from an opera singer (twice a week) to be able to sustain his singign during the show, with the heat and the smoke etc.
Awesome review. You should review the official video Sonne, really has alot in it and will help make sense of the song. The sun can be good and you can get burned!
hi Ken, the Germans like to count it in our songs. Here are a famous German songs where counting. Die Toten Hosen - 10 Kleine Jägermeister (German Rock 1996)
the count is in reference to the protection count/slow count in boxing… that’s why at the end of the song (in the original song) he counts from 1 to 9 and then says “out.. the song was meant to be an entrance song for Vitali Klitschko!
Sonne was written for a Boxer's Ring Music, so it's super heavy Boxing Themed (the world counts to ten) the official music video was based on someone showing them a treatment where snow white clips where used and the band liked that it didn't fit at all so they made the dark Snow White fantasy they ended up using (based on some googling and matching facts from various articles)
Sonne was the song written as an entry song for one boxer, so counting to ten is knockout timer in classic box, and in original at the end instead of 10 he say "AUS" wich means out
IIRC the original theme was for a boxer's intro music but it didn't work out. For the video they went with the Snow White theme because of the tie-in from the original story where the dwarves beg the prince not to take her away because she is their sun. And no offense taken...I hear Sonne and Links-2,3,4 are the Count's favorite Rammstein songs
If you want to hear Till with something more poetic/ somber you should definetly watch the piano version of "Mein Herz Brennt". It's only him and the piano. It's beautiful
The music video explains a bit of the meaning of this. In it you see basically a depiction of Schneewittchen and the 7 dwarfs. Dwarfs in German folklore originate from coal miners, since due to the work in small and narrow mines (starting from a very young age) where often relatively small (due to being extremely hunched over). "Die Sonne" is actually Schneewittchen who brings "light" into the mine when she comes. And them kneeling is to show their respect/admiration (at least in the music video).
You need to see the official one with Snow White - it was added later - originally it was an entrance song for the fighter Valery Klitschco, that is what the counting is for (boxer being counted out) when they decide not to use this song, then Rammstein did the Snow White video, they kneel before her and she is the Sun...... you have to combine the two
Given a lot of tracks they have seem to be about them and the crowd or at least can be doubled meaning this way, i understand this song as he's the sun, the fans are the planets that revolve around him and get their energy from him. He's the power and that passed to the fans. We want him and need him type of thing so we count for his arrival and ultimately will have to leave and die..
I got the cowbell reference Ken (Blue Oyster Cult) :-) This is one of my favourite Rammstein songs, it's the first time I've seen the English lyrics, interesting.
Till is tired here, and his voice tells. This is the encore. He is exhausted. The song was originally written as an entrance song for the boxer Vitali Klitschko, whose surname was also the working title of the song. The female vocal comes from Spectrasonic's "symphony of voices" music library. There are some really good 2019 versions of this out where the entire stadium is in flames. And in 2022 I will be in Die Feuerzone :D
Just came across this video and wanted to see how you liked the show! I've never been able to make it to any of their performances, sadly, but I enjoy hearing others' experiences.

as per the credits from the official music video Bluray for sonne the Soprano Soloists: Jennifer Lind, Pauli Pedersen & Melinda Perrin are credited
absolutely amazing
I think someone already pointed it out, but the "prerecorded soprano" is a synthesizer voice by Spectrasonics, from their "Symphony of Voices" collection. Flake plays this "female singing part" on one of his keyboards.
Greetings and Love from Germany :)
Favorite Rammstein song ever!!!!!
One of the greatest Rammstein songs.
I really appreciate your reaction video. I don't know WHY they resonate with American Fans. I don't know German. However, I am drawn into their music. I saw their video for Du Hast. Next day, I went to a music store and bought the CD. That was over 20 years ago and they just get better and better.
This past September I was able to ✓ off seeing them live for the first time ever.... and if you think THIS video was flaming wild you should see what they do NOW.
Just like OHNE DICH, RADIO, FRÜHLING IN PARIS, FEUER UND WASSER, WIENER BLUT (Wacken 2013) or DIAMANT
PLEASE more RAMMSTEIN.
P.S.: I subscribed 😉
From someone who was at that gig about ten rows from the front, the heat from those flames is insanely intense!!
Till has actually had 4 years of training from an opera singer (twice a week) to be able to sustain his singign during the show, with the heat and the smoke etc.
i was told its about the golden shot of H.... cheers from germany and thx for your vids! like em a lot. Avi
Awesome review. You should review the official video Sonne, really has alot in it and will help make sense of the song.
The sun can be good and you can get burned!
The voice of the soprano in the background is a Keyboard-Sample from the Musikbibliothek Symphony of Voices von Spectrasonics.
My fav rammstein live performance from Rammstein
hi Ken, the Germans like to count it in our songs. Here are a famous German songs where counting.
Die Toten Hosen - 10 Kleine Jägermeister (German Rock 1996)
thanks for your reaction.
the count is in reference to the protection count/slow count in boxing…
that’s why at the end of the song (in the original song) he counts from 1 to 9 and then says “out..
the song was meant to be an entrance song for Vitali Klitschko!
The soprano's voice is done by Spectrasonic's "Symphony of voices", a Keyboard sample.
You should watch the full show 2019 stadium tour - Berlin. Just for your own entertainment. And the start hunting for a ticket 😎
If you want to hear Till with something more poetic/ somber you should definetly watch the piano version of "Mein Herz Brennt". It's only him and the piano. It's beautiful
You should also watch the live version of the song 'Paris' Live in Paris. The ending is crazy how Till uses his voice
And them kneeling is to show their respect/admiration (at least in the music video).
love youre channel! Great work covering Rammstein ect.
I would love to see you covering Saltatio Mortis - Wo sind die Clowns
Keep up the great work
You need to see the official one with Snow White - it was added later - originally it was an entrance song for the fighter Valery Klitschco, that is what the counting is for (boxer being counted out) when they decide not to use this song, then Rammstein did the Snow White video, they kneel before her and she is the Sun...... you have to combine the two
Given a lot of tracks they have seem to be about them and the crowd or at least can be doubled meaning this way, i understand this song as he's the sun, the fans are the planets that revolve around him and get their energy from him. He's the power and that passed to the fans. We want him and need him type of thing so we count for his arrival and ultimately will have to leave and die..
I've been gone for a bit, so much content to catch up on. Love when you react to Rammstein.
I think you would really enjoy the band Kamelot, btw
Your reactions are great.
Soprano is Flake’s keyboard
I got the cowbell reference Ken (Blue Oyster Cult) :-) This is one of my favourite Rammstein songs, it's the first time I've seen the English lyrics, interesting.
Die song sonne is zo mooi nummer
Great. Rammstein 👍🇩🇪
