To a golfer, that's alot of golf balls! Good to get it figured out on paper and then you can buy swap items and come out under budget.. Gonna be awesome when completed!! CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You are mentioning using the cast iron intake manifold and exhaust manifolds and whatnot on the 440 so why not port match the heads to the gaskets. I paid I think 20 dollars for the for a 4 pack of carbide burrs (I think that's what they're called) and they made pretty quick work out of the stock cast iron. I just bolted the gasket to the heads then took a magic marker in traced out what material needed to be removed I then nut and bolted the gasket to the intake and did the exact same thing and the same went with the exhaust. I did all this to my 1970 460 ford that is in my 1973 Lincoln because there is no room between the intake and the hood once the carburetor is on it. I did this and also did a torque cam and it was a significant increase in power and it still sounds stock. Pretty cheap in the parts bin and the labor wasn't to bad to clean up the heads. My logic that determined I was going to do it was it can't be worse than stock.
I've done some ghetto porting before on other engines. It is something free, that can be done at home, that does work. Even with a mild rebuild this is still a 440 and should make tons of power and torque.
yeah your cost number seems about right, it really seems some viewers have a hard realizing that starting off with a 20k charger shell still needs the exact same sheet metal plus other stuff. my favorite part of clone / replica cars is you get to be able to drive it a lot.
Yes. 👍 I just avoided the $15k surcharge on an actual Charger. Literally the car will become a Charger R/T and the a Daytona clone on top. The only thing that would even remain GTX would be the VIN. All the B bodies are essentially the same when you remove the exterior body panels.
I'm doing basically the same thing converting a road runner into a 69 charger but dropping it on a 06bcharger RT. (I like the modern drivelines). I might have missed it, did you mention the roof? I'll be watching, cool project!
I'm pretty sure the roof is the same to the quarter panel line. I know the rear window area is different, but since I'm building a Daytona that doesn't matter.
👍🏻Good luck on that one!! Don’t forget about your labor and time that’s irreplaceable. Even 70k isn’t the end of the world if it’s something you want. Turn key would be nice once in a while... lol
The frame rails are all the same. I'm pretty sure just the springs/rear hangers are a little different. I'll make it all Charger when I replace the rear rails.
😆 I need your money, You should add a thanks to these video's or a buymeacoffee account, I bet people would donate, I currently don't have much. The old lady decided since my money has been low this year it was time to move on, So I have been moving into an Apartment. lol. women. Are you going to make some video's of your roof progect? The progect car and truck are looking good, I'd be sweating looking at those numbers right now. Thanks for the video Josh have a great rest of your week.
Sorry to hear about your home troubles, that sucks! I don't really want to do all those Patreon or members pages. I'd like to sell merch one day, but it's all I can do to keep the builds going, I don't have the space or time to deal with a merch store right now.
I'm going to do the labor anyway and need the car for content. I can't bill myself labor so it is essentially "free". If I paid to have this car done at a shop it would be $100k.
I know I’m new here but I think your prices are too low for the engine, the trans, and especially the exhaust. Watching you though. I’ve been doing a 69 charger for years and just got it on the road this summer (‘24 ). I love it but it’s no where near done
I'm just ball parking with stuff. The engine would just be a stock rebuild with bumped up compression and a cam. The transmission shop around me is pretty reasonable. The big cost right now is the AMD sheet metal.
I work very hard, 7 days a week to afford what I have. I don't make a lot of money, I make sacrifices. I don't "go out", I don't spend money on anything besides cars and my house. Everything I do comes out of my pocket with a little help from RUclips, but I definitely spend way more money on cars and parts than RUclips pays me.
Keep searching the southern states for parts or an entire car. Thats too much $ You'll end up spending more than it will be worth. Won't be an authentic R/T Daytona
Yes, I know that it won't be authentic. Charger Daytonas are $750k to $3mil! I'm building a clone for me. I'm saving $15k right off the bat by reskinning a GTX instead of paying the inflated price for a Charger.
Can't wait to see more of this project, I have seen a couple of Daytona and Superbird clones and i've always wanted to know how they built 'em.
I'm really looking forward to it!
I admire your talent and determination and am looking forward to the progress (and hopefully it will motivate me to finish my project)
Thanks 👍

I'm just going to chip away at it a little at a time. That's par for the course, I guess.
@@QuickSpeedShop Good one LOL

@@QuickSpeedShop for your rear window, instead of a vega/pinto glass, do you think a spirit rear glass would work, i got one i could donate.
I think that is too big. I think an Eagle wagon hatch might work. I have a couple and am going to try one.

I've pressed the like button for ya
Best I can do. Good luck
Thanks 👍
I’ve used After Blast after sandblasting from Eastwood with great results. Keeps things from flashing over. Just passing my experience along.
Thanks. I've used a similar product before and will probably get some so I can work on the truck and not worry about rust.
I have heard of a few guys using a chevy vega rear hatch for the window plug when building a clone.
Yes, but now they are hard to find and guys want more than $500 for them. I have another hatch and glass I'm going to try and see if that works.
👍🏻Good luck on that one!! Don’t forget about your labor and time that’s irreplaceable. Even 70k isn’t the end of the world if it’s something you want. Turn key would be nice once in a while... lol
My time and labor kind of gets covered with RUclips, but I think that average hour cost of a resto shop today has to be somewhere close to $100 an hr
The 69 charger Daytonas use 1970 charger front fenders and hood. The superbirds used 70 coronet front fenders and hood both modified.
I know, but since no one makes repro '70 fenders, banged up, rusted originals are over $1000 each.
From my experience you always have to multiply the expected cost by at least one and a half
I hope not. I think I was fair with most of the estimates and actually priced all the AMD stuff.
@@QuickSpeedShop can't wait to see the whole process! Hope everything goes smoothly!
You forgot tires and wheels, cool project!
Came with Magnum 500 wheels. Tires are 14 inch. Probably $400. This is just a ballpark cost analysis.
You are gonna need two door jambs. The quarter panel is a different profile than the GTX . There is a body line.
Thanks 👍
You do know that a Charger and a GTX have different wheelbase lengths, right?

Doin all the work yourself, watching every penny, You will still be lucky if ya finish under 50K. That's fine, but don't fool yourself.
I hope not. It better not go 100% over budget!
The budget for the Daytona doesn't count a penny for your labor though. It's a great project though
