I never understood ppl. If you store a car why not put a sun shade behind the windshield. Than use a vehicle specific quality car cover to protect it from the sun, hail or whatever your area needs. Such simple things one can do. Throw in some bounce sheets and keep the windows up. If anything leave it down like quarter inch. Tons more one can do but even just these basics help a lot.
Just a little hint when showing a Mopar. Take a shot of the fender tag (metal plate screwed to the D/S inner fender). It will tell you all the options that are on that vehicle. Some cars have 2 tags if there are too many codes to put on the 1st. It will also tell you where it was built,paint codes etc. If it was a pilot car,it will say. Just a little hint for you... the owner said he removed the data plates and he had them put away inside his house for safe keeping and wasn’t interested in showing them. Smart thing to do as these are valuable to that car. When i see a video of a vehicle, i like to look at optional items and see how many i can get before looking at the fender tags and the build sheets. My friend had his 69 1/2' Super B (code A12) at a show and someone removed the original wing nuts,which are very rare. Love your articles on the LS6 Chevelle's, i've learned an awful lot about those from you and hope to learn a whole lot more. Thank You for all you do in the collectors world.
Another great video Patrick thank you for risking your pant leg among other things with those dogs. Are you certain it is a 440 car? Maybe I am mistaken but I think all 440 and 426 Chargers came factory with front disk brakes and a dana60. That one of course had drum brakes all around.
Just wait until you removed the rear window trim, it's rusted out bad. Also replace sail panels,rear quarter panels, rear wheel wells, and truck floor pans, might get away with the tail panel and trunk lid but probably not. These are just rust spots on the 1968 - 1970 Chargers. Nice car needs a lot of work, I know I have a 69 and mine has been in a garage since 1985.
I've been in similar circumstances! A few years ago I found a '68 charger R/T sitting in front of a house in northeast PA and while the owner said it was OK for me to look around, his obese German Shepard wasn't too happy about it.
more than likely has a Dana 60 axle too! If it's been sitting for 35 years the owner probably wants to restore it but doesn't have the money to do so, and yet won't part with it either! 🤔
It looks like a Hemi 4 speed spline. Somebody pulled the engine and left the Hemi 4 speed transmission. With manual drum brakes the Dana 60 would have originally had 3.54 gears. It did have power steering though.
Jim Jungle I would say most of the 4 speeds in big blocks are hemi 4 speeds I had a 70 road runner 440 and it was a hemi 4 speed 18 spline and I know of another person had a big block 383 roadrunner and it had a18 spline so I think a lot of the big blocks had a hemi 4 speed

In the subdivision behind where I live there’s a 69 R/T 4 speed car and a 69 camaro x11 car sitting in a driveway for over 20 yrs now and both were running/driving when parked. My buddy has a Buick gs stage one vert and a 71 gs stage one hardtop. Nice cars!!!!!
A 4 speed R/T. I would really like to have one. I'm not sure, if many people know that the Dukes of Hazzard television show originally wanted to use Chevelles as the General Lee. Chevelles were more expensive at the time so they ended up using the Dodge Charger. I just, cannot see Bo and Luke driving a Chevelle.
@gordon mathew at the time of filming the Chevelle was a newer model. So, the charger was a bit cheaper (not by much) than the Chevelle. Hence, why they destroyed so many chargers. Mostly 318 models.

The six cylinder and 318 chargers where slightly cheaper than the Chevelle.s ( not by much) at the time of filming/acquiring. Sorry, for the confusion. Realize that films have a budget and the Dukes of Hazzard wasn't a huge budget. they had to acquire hundreds and hundreds of cars. so a few dollars per car made a big difference back then.

I was in Charlestown W.VA in 1986 and found a 68 charger 383 four barrel 727 automatic 3:55 posi 83/4 rear burgundy with black interior bench seat. I inquired about the car and had it bought for $800.00 dollars but had no way to transport it back to n.y. and limited funds at the time. would have been a nice find and purchase. the things we miss out on. !!!!
I know that people always think that they will get back to these cars and put back together ... but seldom is that the case. I never owned but one and it was a seventy with three eighty three and it was auto consol shift, buckets tac dash and gages factory. I was one of many that owned it and it was green everything but one guy rattled caned it purple and then another sanded it and left it in a lot of primer so green, purple, gray and other colors of primer to cover rust starting over wheels. Still had factory wheels but they needed to be replaced as the rust wouldn't let you mount anything tubeless. I really liked it and I'm a ford guy... big time!! I still own fords and when I had a fleet of KW's, I used fords for shop trucks. Not wimpy trucks either, the f eight hundreds were my choice, three of them with air and the 466 international engines with ten speeds. Big cranes on all of them. I got more than I ever put into them but a lot of the work I did myself on the service trucks. I drove one cause I went on service calls just to find out how drivers are really treating my trucks. Most were good but on occasion, I would let a driver go. My wife would drive that truck till I got a new driver. Way off subject... that dodge of mine was stolen and never recovered.... and I and others looked. I put up a reward and did lots of goose chases. Never again. Another good thing about fords as they don't get stolen as often.

That's a damn shame they left the window down so all the dirt and everything else can fill the car up the owner must not give a care about it or he would put the window up and keep it in a little better condition but by what I see it looks to be low option it has standard drums it looks like it has PS but could not tell I wonder if that's a 30-spline A-833 4 speed trans? My Father had old Boats and Cars in his side yard, people would stop and ask to buy the Cars or parts. My Father said that he would restore them but he never did. Now the Cars, Boats and Dad are gone.

Stick in a 426 Hemi , paint it orange with the Confederate flag on the roof and 01 on the doors.. Yee Ha.. My cousin had a boxer that could climb a 6 foot chainlink fence then she used plastic ties to put chicken wire along the top but he would climb it and break the plastic ties and still escape lol but awesome car its a shame the door didn't have a window to save the interior.

I seen a couple dogs a few years ago eat through some chain fence like that, be careful. That might the same two dogs, those are mexican bulldogs, too.

I'm 53, and live in south Georgia. I've seen a lot of cars in my day just sitting, and the owner would not sell. A 69 camaro comes to mind, in the 80's. I'm telling you this humidity takes a toll on them.
