  • I set crab pots / traps in shallow water along the fringing mangroves of a tropical island in Northern Australia. The wet season will soon be here, bringing much needed rain and the giant mud crab will become much more active. #returnoutdoors #mudcrab #crabbing

Good to see you recovered from your fall last video. This certainly is not the usual estuary crabbing we have grown accustom to. Nice change of scenery, the Island looks great in the background, and even some lure action not that it paid off. The fact that you managed to get any crabs at all is amazing, there is a lot of water for them to hide in out there. At least in the creek there is not as much water to cover with your pots. Two keepers is all you need for a feed, it did look a little bumpy heading home in you little tinny! Stay safe.

It was definitely a nice spot to set the crab pots for a few hours. The ride home was a little wet but all part of the adventure. I am looking forward to setting the pots in the river again this week. Hopefully better numbers of quality muddies will find their way into the pots. I greatly appreciate your feedback and ongoing support and support. Cheers!👍

How many inch you take a crab?

    • @returnoutdoors2210

Where I am located I can only take male mud crabs a minimum of 6 inches (15cm) across the widest point of the shell. Thanks for your question!👍

Hopefully a couple of storms bringing decent rainfall with them will get the mud crabs active in this area again soon.
Good luck with catching a feed of blue crabs. Cheers!👍

Thanks for that Brad that is a interesting spot you took us to this time, I couldn't help noticing that Coast line there was amazing, the depth of the Ravines in the range there was incredible to look at, there must be amazing water action coming out of there to carve into it that way.
So what sort of area is that one north or south of town?
Love the adventures you take us on, one day I hope to go for a run north and cruise along the coast for a while just taking everything in.
Boy the girls were in massive numbers this month?
Fishing was tough? not much structure there like your fav live bait spots where you normally take us
    Cheers Garry

I was crabbing the shallow coastal flats of Magnetic Island. I agree it was a beautiful backdrop and during the wet season plenty of water spills down the ravines into the ocean.
I hope you find time to explore all the locations of interest to you. We have a truly beautiful and diverse country.
Thanks heaps my friend for your ongoing support.

Oh you are welcome, it is a pleasure watching your content and yes I hope to take the time to go do all those things, to many of us just grind out a job for our whole lives waiting for things to change and then Go adventuring but sadly so many never get there, I have had to put things off for a while because of TMR but hopefully I will break their backs soon and get a decent payout so we can get off the treadmill LMAO@@returnoutdoors2210

Get some real crab pots! Also put some rocks in there to stop it moving around wouldn’t last a second in a king tide !

These are great pots made by Wilson. Check out a few of my other videos when these pots come up full of big mud crabs.
You should get yourself some and start catching crabs.
When used for their intended purpose they are great.
Good luck with your crabbing hope your luck changes soon!👍
