  • Sony A7iv Upgrade from Sony A7iii | First Impressions - Is it worth it?
I've switched from Sony A7iii to now the Sony A7iv and these are my initial thoughts and opinions of having just recently made the big switch. Do you own the Sony A7iv? What do you think of the camera?

Yeah I never script my videos as I rather just chat freely. But that fix was funny too as it was the next day and my clothes for this video were already in the wash 😂🤣😂 all the gear was setup as I've been recording a number of videos to post a new video each week. Anyways glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for the comment 😊

Nice Video. Seems like a worth upgrade so far. Moving from Canon to the A7III a few years ago i thought the AF jump on that was great so from what you saying its seems like another huge jump.

It really is, they've addressed most issues found with the A7iii and as far as I know the AF is the same as A7Siii and A1

10:58 Opening the shutter curtain when shutting down is more likely to cause damage to the shutter curtain. I don't know which time the shutter curtain got stuck when taking pictures. Although it can prevent dust, I don't use this function for safety.

With the Sony A7iii after you switch the camera off, after a while you would feel the shutters open. If you timed it right, you could switch off the camera and take the battery out and have shutters closed. But I like this feature now, the dust level has been dramatically reduced thankfully as I was cleaning my sensor way too often

Seriously class camera and since making this video I actually think it performs better at higher ISOs than the A7iii

@@MarkDuffyPhotography maybe for video. Photo don’t know. But I know for photo 640 does just fine as second base iso.

@@chrisvantwiskphotography that event I mentioned I shot at, I was shooting a few photos at iso1600, it cleaned up perfectly so basically no noise between 100 & 1600

IMO, the A7iv does perform better than the A7iii, but not enough to warrant an upgrade. The A7iv flip screen makes taking pictures awkward but I guess Sony made the A7iv for more with video in mind, but I would go for the fx30.

Everywhere on RUclips people talk about overheating and getting extremely hot of the Sony A7IV during 4K recordings and even shutting down!
My simple question, if you film in 1440p does this camera also overheat after filming for a long time?
Since this A7IV is high on my wish list instead of the FX30 because of more possibilities for photos and better low light possibilities, I want to be able to make beautiful films during a performance!
These stages are not fully lit and I wouldn't add extra because of the atmosphere.
Unfortunately, there are usually only professionals who judge this camera and who have a computer that can process 4K images without difficulty!
While afterwards they will render to 1440p so as not to make the file too large!

For filming bands you'd want some shots in slow mo and that's only possible in HD, so I'd probably just output to HD, especially if you're not posting to RUclips as its still the only platform that accepts more than HD.
I can't imagine it would have overheating issues with HD recording, but from shooting my youtube videos it does get warm but I'm yet to see a warning light
