Why does every creator suggest getting the A7IV compared to this camera? Like yes we get it that camera is better. It's also $800 more than this one. I would say for the trades off are not that bad especially at discount. They have the same sensor.
Because it's got better physical features. If you don't need the "pro" physical features, this makes sense as the sensor is the same and it's got the AI Autofocus which is stickier. The perfect travel camara would be a used a7c mark 1 because you would take out more without worrying to damage or get it stolen as much as you would worry of a new more expensive camera. 😆 I wish I had the mark ii
Yep! I’d say the only difference would be a slight better low light on A7Cii but it’s so close that getting a6700 would be the better choice for budget.
Hi, what format did you chose to record with the A7 cii? Will go on a trip for 2 weeks without my computer. Is it doable to make small videos and take pictures on a single 256Gb card?
I use XAVC HS or S at 10-bit. I don't fill my 128gb files with photos and videos during travels but I only go like 5-9 days at a time but it's always nice to carry a bigger storage for peace of mind during the trip.
It was the a7cii or this zve1 for me before I purchased. I ended up with the a7cii for the EVF and the photography features. I really wanted a smaller a7iv which fit the bill from what I needed for a camera. The ZVE1 is better for video but I want to take photos with EVF! If you're video focused, ZV-E1 is a great choice. For hybrid, a7cii!
@@VictorLaforteza I have A7iv but i want to get more compact when i go outside. I do 70% video and 30% photo. I'm thinking to get ZV-E1 but kinda hesitant. I don't mind taking photos at 12mp since i'm only using it for social media but the lack of mechanical shutter is my concern. So I might also go with a7cii. Thanks for the inputs!
Alex! Lovely video. I believe Sam Holland and Danny Bligh noted the color or image/DR seemed different between a7c2 and a7iv despite same sensor. Any thoughts?
Great video. Love the colour grading. Did you shoot everything in 4k 24fps? I’m thinking of swapping my A7iv for A7Cii but I’m worried i might miss the control buttons and evf for photography.
Been debating the A7cii vs. the ZV-E1 for a compact video camera, I am wondering if I would lose out on anything by going A7Cii? Would I lose dynamic range (besides low capability)?
A7cii is sharper as well due to oversampled 6k to 4k but zve1 would be soft and pleasing with a slight bump in dynamic range and extreme low light. Other than that very similar if you expose well and grade it! It’ll be up to what you need from a camera! For me the deciding factor was the 33mp photos and EVF. Makes a good hybrid camera
Amazing video thanks much. I notice that my a7cii's low iso photos still have quite some amount of grain. E.g. shooting at iso 320 at 1/320 shutter speed and f4 still looks slightly noisy and muddy. Wld a 61mp a7cr with the same settings yield a cleaner/sharper image at low Isos (because I know at high Isos the 61mp wld be noiser for sure)? Grateful for your advice as I can't seem to find a straightforward answer! (:
It most likely is the "new" sensor as I've been asked about the A7IV (same sensor as the A7CII) photos being noisier and grainier than the A7III. I'm not so sure about the A7CR as I have no experience with that camera.
Hi, I have a similar setup (a7cii/ 24m. 2.8) without a nisi 49mm nd filter. I'm going on a bikepacking tour soon and am thinking about which nd filter I should buy. I want to keep my setup as minimal as possible. Do you think for Video Nisi 1-5 variable should be enough? or should I buy + 5-9 as well? and do you also use mist filters? Cool Shoots btw.
I think 1-5 is good! On high noon or super bright days, you might need to be around f8 with 5 stops on the VND. If you need that shallow depth of field 5-9 is a must but I get by with 1-5 just fine!
Isn't the 26.8ms rolling shutter a bit too painful at 4K@24fps? I mean even 15ms is kinda a lot, but of course talking from an A7SIII perspective which I wished it had faster readout as well than 8.7ms. That's comparable to A7Rv's 8K rolling shutter speed and as much as the crop mode 4K@24fps on it. Overall, I would opt for the A7CR for that form factor, but A7CII is still a brilliant camera.
I don’t mind it and when I was shooting client work with the a7iv I never had a client say “that rolling shutter is noticeable” these are campaigns that have fast panning action like motocross, dancing, and racing. I think it’s very noticeable to us filmmakers but I also think it’s just us looking for perfect cameras 😂 cameras nowadays are wild!
@@VictorLaforteza Yeah for client work it won't matter. I'm more of a wildlife filmmaker myself, and shooting my documentary film about biting midges here, even at 7.7ms of 4K@120fps at an extreme total 7x magnification, I could notice some minor jello-effect sometimes. Not sure if you gonna find someone else complaining about A7SIII/FX3 rolling shutter though, haha. Here's the film (English version) if it's something you care about and wanna see these annoying insects up close: ruclips.net/video/Vpqvng1sMQ8/видео.html Highly considering the A9III but for now I need to get the A7Rv as a photography beast for weddings and as a great B-cam using 8K for interviews for multi-cropping options.
@@Bo_Hazemah yes I see it!! That’s definitely a no for wildlife. I could see why the a9iii with that global shutter would be perfect for it! Thanks for sharing it’s good to know the fx3 / a7siii still shows rolling shutter on longer focal lengths / macro for wildlife.
@@VictorLaforteza As far as I know, the Venice 2 has the fastest rolling shutter out there with less than 3ms. Both A1 and Z8/9 have like 4ms and 3.7ms respectively but in photo mode, in video they're more like 15ms or faster using pixel binning and other trickery, which can still look great to be honest. I think outside sport and wildlife, filmmaking is much more forgiving nowadays with how good gear has become. Dreaming of getting the Freefly Ember S5K if I can get some sponsorship on future docs! So far docs are just a complete money drain to me but it's my absolute joy and passion in life. Trying to learn from guys like you how to improve and be better with cinematography. Warm greetings!

Care to share the music name?
love the video. i just got myself an A7cII as well. can you teach us how you export your videos for youtube?
I just do the default MP4 export on davinci resolve at 8000 kbps bitrate! I'm sure there's better ways to do it on youtube haha! hope that helps
Do you think a6700 is still comparable to a7c ii?
Yep! I’d say the only difference would be a slight better low light on A7Cii but it’s so close that getting a6700 would be the better choice for budget.
Lovely footage! Was this gimbal, tripod or just handheld active ibis? Thanks!
All shot tripod and handheld active ibis!
@@VictorLaforteza cool! Thanks!
@@VictorLaforteza incredible work!
Hey help me please. Samyang lens not working with a7cii
contact Samyang tech support !
Would love to hear your thoughts on ZVE1, Any plans on getting one?
What picture profile and settings did you use to film your videos ?
Slog3! 24p 4k 1/50 iso 800 :)
Alex! Lovely video. I believe Sam Holland and Danny Bligh noted the color or image/DR seemed different between a7c2 and a7iv despite same sensor. Any thoughts?
I feel like the a7c2 is more tbh! But color seems to be the same. Super slight differences though!
@@VictorLaforteza so cool! So what’s the play for folks for travel etc a7c2 and a6700 make it hard
yo, nice footage, keep the 2.35:1 ratio (: . what is the VND that you used please?
Thanks! I used the NiSi VND !
@@VictorLaforteza the true color nisi?
Hey man love your work! Could you explain the process of shooting on slog-3? I am struggling with making the footage look consistent on my a7cii
I usually expose to +1 on the multi metering! Check out my slog3 video!
Great video. Love the colour grading. Did you shoot everything in 4k 24fps? I’m thinking of swapping my A7iv for A7Cii but I’m worried i might miss the control buttons and evf for photography.
Thanks! If you do work with the a7iv, keep it! But otherwise, A7Cii is good with small lenses 💪🏽
I think i will purchase the Sony A74 at least a excellent condition used one. Which would be a same price as a brand new Sony A7C 2.
Yeah and the a7iv has more physical features like dual SD and better evf! Great workhorse
Any thoughts on the image quality vs the a6700 other than the full frame vs apsc differences?
I’d say just a bit of dynamic range difference but not a lot!
@@VictorLaforteza thank you so much for the quick reply!
what lens are you using?
What were you using before? The a6700?
yep!
@@VictorLaforteza nice. I’m thinking about doing the same thing. Your video was extremely informative thank you
Hi, I have a similar setup (a7cii/ 24m.
Here's the film (English version) if it's something you care about and wanna see these annoying insects up close:
ruclips.net/video/Vpqvng1sMQ8/видео.html
Highly considering the A9III but for now I need to get the A7Rv as a photography beast for weddings and as a great B-cam using 8K for interviews for multi-cropping options.
Why not the ZV-E1?
Thought about it but I want an EVF for photos
Does this camera good for beginner? Also I am iPhone shooter.
might be a bit much but if you have the budget, why not! great overall cam
Why does this camera produce a faded look? This is the stock footage without any filters? The footage looks good but is not crisp and colorful. Is this just the way this camera footage looks? faded?
It’s the editing but I don’t think it’s faded though but it’s subjective to what you’re used to seeing
Love the video
Thanks!!
Must be anamorphic lense used in the beginning sequence, which one did you used?
Used Sony 24mm 2.8 all throughout! Just cropped it so it’s widescreen 🙌🏽
Lol nah
What video codec / settings / color space do you use for recording with this camera? I want my footage to look its best since I now finally own a v90 card, thanks in advance 🙏🏽
XAVC-HS 10 bit 422 highest bit rate. Slog3 ! 800/3200 iso
What do you use to record the audio during recording
The intro footage with just the built in mic! The studio mic is the blue sona !
@@VictorLaforteza oh sweet intro footage was what was in mind. I'm looking at getting this camera for a Japan trip too. Very inspirational thankyou
Hi, would you prefer this camera to the Sony ZV E1 in terms of photo and video quality?
Yes! But the zv-e1 is just a bit better in video since it’s an a7siii fx3 sensor ! Just depends if you need photo or not
@@VictorLaforteza Ok do you think the videos are even sharper and better quality with the ZVE1?
@@neveoney7865not sharper but slightly better dynamic range and higher base ISO
