Camping World is the store chain that bought Gander Mountain and is bringing some of those stores back. Marcus Lemonis is the head of Camping World and has a show on CNBC called The Profit.
This building was also a pretty decent flea market between Circuit City & Gander Mtn. It's soon to reopen as Gander Outdoors:) ... Across the parkinglot is the Super Kmart as noted, yes it was a great store.
I looked on Google says and was confused. The original "temporary" store is where Burlington is now, at least on the map. It also looks like it is reopened, and the green is now blue.
Yes gander opened in the now Burlington building when they tore down the smaller gander mountain and circuit city to build this store. It was only for a few months. That was back in 2015.
This building style is similar to the new large Gander Mountain that was built in Cedar Rapids, Iowa last year, but never even got a chance to open. The company went bankrupt while the old smaller store was still being liquidating to prepare for the move into the new store. The new store was basically finished and ready to open...but it never did. After the bankruptcy abruptly cancelled the new store, they decided instead to stay in the old smaller store when the new partnership with Camping World takes effect sometime this year. So now, a giant essentially brand-new unused building is sitting abandoned, with all the Gander Mountain branding and signage peeled off.
I love this video. If you ever been to Gander Mountain and liked it and sad to see some of them go. WallieB26 has another video of Gander Mountain please go check it out the URL this ruclips.net/video/JVUB2Tz9GIg/видео.html here's some history on Gander Mountain. Gander Mountain Company, Inc., headquartered in St. Paul, Minnesota, was a retail network of stores for hunting, fishing, camping, and other outdoor recreation products and services. Gander Mountain Incorporated began as a catalog-based retailer in Wilmot, Wisconsin. Wilmot is located near Gander Mountain, the highest point in Lake County, Illinois a short distance across the state line. As of March 2017, the chain had 162 stores in 27 states, making it the largest chain of outdoors specialty stores in the United States. In the 1990s the company sought bankruptcy protection and began to rebuild its business once it emerged. In 1996 it sold its mail order division and then later acquired the watersports company Overton's in order to relaunch its mail-order business. The company filed for bankruptcy in March 2017 with plans to close 32 stores. On May 5, 2017, Gander Mountain announced via its website the upcoming closure of all of its locations. The new owner, Marcus Lemonis, has clarified through his account on Twitter that the bankruptcy court has sold the inventory and is liquidating it. Not all stores will remain closed if a new lease can be worked out with each landlord.[ Gander Mountain was formerly traded on NASDAQ but was turned into a private company under the majority ownership of David Pratt and the Erickson family, which own Holiday gas stations. Chairman of the Board David C. Pratt was elected Chairman of the Board in December 2006. Pratt was elected as a director of Gander Mountain in August 2005 and named Vice Chairman of the Board in December 2005. The Chief Executive Officer is Jay Tibbets.
Great video. Maybe the person inside is the ghost of a former Gander Mountain customer who is mad he can't get his gun for Wabbit Season. Duck Season. Wabbit Season. Never heard of Gander Mountain but still sad to see another retailer bite the dust. At this rate it will only be Wally World and Tarshay and Dicks Sporting Goods and Amazon left. Nice designed store like a hunting lodge. Glad I found this one.
Is in Howland township near Eastwood mall is in a nice area.Nice & modern as those buildings are likely to become a Bass Pro shop/Cabelas both one company now.And betting Mejier going in that Super K they did it here in Amherst with our former super K.Hope you went a little further and went to the famed Hot Dog shop behind downtown Warren on US.Rt.422 is easily best fast food joint in Warren area.
Kevin Baldwin+I agree about expensive, worse still Cabelas & Bass Pro shops are merged and run by same management now certainly wouldn't hurt Avon,Ohio store Cabelas opened in June is never very busy. And I live in a very big sport fishing area along Lake Erie near that store.Either way too expensive💸 for me I use REI.com for my camping, kayaking, cycling needs👍
Had similar issues with the wind while filming around a then abandoned sports authority near me months ago and off price chain Gabe's moved in back in August.
The Gander Mtn. in Monroville is a former Ames. The other former Ames in Monroville is a (closing with the chain) Pat Catans, and it still has an Ames label scar.
Yeah that Gander Mtn hasn't been closed long. Was attached to the old Circuit City before it went out of business. Then they bought the old Circuit City part and expanded the size and upgraded the Gander Mtn. Was open for about a year before it went out of business. Sad. Should check out downtown Warren for old abandon buildings. You'll find plenty.
I heard Kmart will be closing that particular store at the end of December and the Gander mountain rumor went around saying when they initialy were closing stores they wern't going to close that store, But sure enough, Yep Later that year
There used to be a circuit city at one point right here too

The funny thing is, right before they closed this, they renovated the building and put a lot of money into making it look nicer.
They reopened a few months back so good news for one building!!! Now u can go inside 😂
