This has been used for shed sales for a little while and now is the home of a very big church that is very nice I've been told. Thanks for the video! I stumbled upon it trying to find mini cabins from the 90s on 422 for a friend. I've lived here all my life! Lol
Back in the 60s it used to called Fairway as it was a huge market for everything and anything...my dad used to take us kids there as they had toys and trinkets for kids also. Then mcmenemys move in and I live across from there and you could hear and feel the music on bike night lol...it was a big restaurant and bar....thrift town moved in there about 3 years ago and I believe they left at the end of 2018.
This place used to be a banquet hall and restaurant called McMenemys but it closed and Thrift Town moved in. Thrift Town closed because a Grace Fellowship Church bought the property and are going to renovate the building into their new church location. Here is the website gracelives.com/325
This neighborhood is colloquially known as McKinley Heights. And yea as others have said it was originally an Irish pub/restaurant/banquet hall called McMenemys. Last time I remember going there was summer 2008, I don't remember when they finally closed but I do remember their closing followed a long and painful bankruptcy saga. Thrift Town took over circa 2012 (don't quote me on that), no idea when they closed
Was originally a discount department store named Fairway in late 50’s-early 70’s. Sold a lot of cheap Japanese junk. Empty for years before opened as Mcmenamys banquet hall and bar/restaurant. Great place to drink and listen to bands on outdoor stage. Yeah they had outdoor bar under big permanent tent. Owners ran into bankruptcy problems and final straw was Niles cop who lived nearby filed several lawsuits over noise from outdoor stage. Local police and highway patrol made a killing by sitting nearby and charging DUI which caused patrons to stop going there. Sat empty awhile before thrift shop opened. Was a real fire hazard with old furniture and appliances packed in with narrow aisles. Heard owner was pretty far behind in rent to whoever owned building. Grace church that was in plaza where abandoned Kmart is on rt46 by Eastwood Mall bought building and is supposed to remodel but I don’t know. That was a while ago with nothing done. Those chunks in asphalt in front by main entrance was where they had a really nice produce stand. Owners erected a big permanent pavilion style roof. Owners rented space from guy that ran thrift store. Shame. They put a lot of $$ in pavilion. Anyhow, that’s my story. PS I grew up across the street from this building.
Use to be a restaurant/ bar. Would have live music every Friday night. Grew up about 1 mile down the street, and could hear the music from my house. Thrift town though? Not very cool. I think it was there for maybe a year ish? Now during the summer they have fresh produce tables out front.
WallieB26 no problem you’re welcome. It was they used to have wedding receptions and bike nights there. Eddie money played there ounce too. Plus cherry Monroe l. They were a rock band based out of Youngstown here. They were signed to universal records. But broke up a year after their first record was released.
It was a pretty fun bar at one time as well. They had live music outside in the back during the summer. Owners ran it into the ground. Was a shame. The church that was next to the old Super Kmart is moving there. From what I have heard they are tearing the building down and starting over
Did you see the Toys R Us in Warren is now a Big Lots? It used to be across the street by Gabes. They had the older Big Lots sign which I'm hoping didn't get destroyed
That was the Shaler, PA Kmart that closed in January of this year. That was my lifelong store that's just over the hill from my home less than 3 miles away. Was the first Kmart built in the Pittsburgh area was one of the first 10 foundation stores for the company opening in 1966.
Great video, I would have to say that this was another one of my favorites. I love to see vintage places like this one. Also had a quick question, where did you get the music at the end of the video? Cool little tune. Looking forward to your next video, take care and stay awesome.
I went to many functions there when it was McMenamy's banquet hall a lot of fun times! It wasn't a thrift store for very long. Sad to see the place so ramshackled.
So sad it was a really nice place when it was Mcnenamy’s banquet hall I believe that’s were I had my 10 year high school reunion in 2001. I believe the building used to be green. Ty enjoyed your video
Grace Fellowship Church which was ironically next to the old Super K Mart purchased this Thrift Store building and will be the future home of their new church.
I'm just a few blocks down it's called mcmenamy's they used to have weddings and banquets on the one side, a restaurant on the other side, in a really cool bar on the end with an outdoor bar as they would have concerts there every Friday cornhole.. it's sad what happened to the place
I think the lettering on the home depot cart is just generic because my home depot store still has that same cart with that lettering. That old school time clock though!
Awesome video. Didn't know you play drums man. Learn something new about ya every day. Should do a drum solo video that would be cool. Not like I haven't watched some drum cover vids on youtube LOL.

Ahh fuck, why did you remind me of Minnesota's 7 month long winters
Nillllleeeeesss
Not abandoned. It used to be a banquet hall and was recently bought by my church. We're just awaiting the remodel so we can move in!
It's only been closed a few months. Idk when you recorded this but it hasn't been long and they were only there maybe 6 months.
This was published in august it had only been closed a month or so lol. The guy running it was a hillbilly joke anyway.
It used to be a banquet hall and restaurant before thrift town moved in. It was called mcmenemys
Oh wow! Cool! Thanks for the info. I was wondering. Looked like a pretty nice place.
