There has been quite a few fast food restaurants closing permanently. Then, you have independent owners trying to start a fast food restaurant. Then, the independent owners end up closing permanently.
The owner closed this location in late 2017 due to business conditions. The building is owned by McDonald's Corporate. There is another old McDonald's on 840 E Midlothian Blvd that sits abandoned once they relocated further up the street to a new building.
@@matthewreed1078 Some of the early McDonald's were owned and built by the franchisee. Late McDonald's realized that the value was in the real estate. Now they are one of the largest owners of real estate.
We saw an old school McDonald's on Saturday while driving around. I was so excited. I hate the new look, that square gray building is so bland and uninviting.
If a McDonald's closes they normally change the mansard roof to a level tile roof. We have a closed down McDonald's where I live in Sheffield, Alabama has the roof like the one in Youngstown and then when they closed the one in Huntsville by the hospital they changed the mansard roof to a flat tile roof after the closure. I think there's a Chick-fil-A there now. There's also an old style Pizza Hut in that area that closed as well. Seems like I read or heard about closing McDonalds' changing their rooflines when they close as well
Built around 1985, closed around 2008. There is an old supermarket behind it that the city wants to tear down that closed in the 70s. The Clark gas station closed in the early 2000s. Not much left in this area.
When I visited the abandoned Middlesex, NJ Mcdonald's, the McLogos wwre all painted over, too. I think that's part of what they do when they shut down.
I do missed the old school buildings for McDonald’s from the 1970’s, 80’s, and early 90’s. I don’t mind the interior is modern. A lot of fast food restaurants are updating towards modern style of today. There is one McDonald’s that I found on google maps that was designed from the 1950’s. That will be interesting to see and go to.
it is a shame about the windows. The place we're remodeling now had two 8x8 foot windows like that broken, cost the owner a little over $1000 each to relace. always enjoy your videos take care guys
I have family around there and it’s a bad area which makes sense about the broken windows. It’s such a shame that people can’t respect places and just leave it alone.
This McDonald’s was built back in 1988 or 1989 by a couple who moved to the Youngstown area from the New Orleans area. This was their second store. Their first one in the area was the one located on Fifth Avenue across from YSU Stadium which is doing very well and has since been remodelled and modernized. I worked at that YSU store when it first opened in December of 1987. The Thomas family who owned it eventually sold both stores to Sam Covelli and moved to New Jersey. The last I heard they were flourishing there much better than in Youngstown.
Thanks for giving us a update on this McDonald's I had a laugh on that video you made yesterday it was funny. It sad that people have t do that stuff to the building :(
Me too I can tell lot of businesses not all of them but lot of them have lost their character look on outside look on lot of buildings I just like fun look on building not boring look like lot of them in today's world keep in mine I'm not trying show any hate but I just like fun look on lot of buildings better it seems more cool to me.
Looks like (from your 2020 video) only about six windows were broken: -one on the lower entry door next to the drive through pickup -one on the opposite entry, door facing away from the road -one on the inside lower door of the same entry -two on the same side, the ones on the party room, same side -one on the front upper window on that same party room.
WallieB26, I wish people wouldn't destroy abandoned places and break the windows and wonder why they don't get caught! Really enjoyed your abandoned McDonald's video.
No no no Wally that is Wilkes-Barre with a potholes in the roads they fixed the ones that do not need to be fixed and the ones that need to be fixed they don't fix
I don't understand why people feel the need to damage the property of a place that is permanently closed that once thrived. It breaks my heart (don't get me started with what happened Rolling Acres Mall before it got demolished). Likewise, I could have seen a place like that get repurposed into a new business, so the idea of it getting vandalized makes me feel uneasy.
Wallie, tell Kayla that I prefer quite a bit more the sweet & sour sauce from Wendy's, as it has MORE FLAVOR and THE PROPER AMOUNT OF SOURNESS (and it's a bit spicy to boot). I do believe they also use that sauce for their "Asian boneless wings" (nuggets without breading and bathed in the S&S sauce).
All the fast food joints are going to the keosks sadly then some are demanding others to use them.cars are a pain in general.i could only imagine how bad the electric cars are.
This goes for any city though. You'll have violence, hoodlums, and vandals in any city. South side of Youngstown seems to keep shooting each other daily, but the rest of the city isn't all that bad.
11:17 Carolina Reaper pepper 🌶️ is no longer the hottest pepper! The "Pepper X" has officially dethroned the Carolina Reaper! Only a sauce is available. No seeds for plants! That's how closely guarded this plants are!
Yeah I know sadly to say this but they are definitely asking for trouble no one should be doing that and why they can't they leave stuff alone? Oh well :(
For me I work a night job and what I have come to hate about the local McDonald’s that are open all night is there stupid cash only deal they start at 3am and sometimes does not end until 4:30 am sometimes I don’t like to carry cash so I just stopped going to the local McDonald’s and don’t spend any money with them I would bother go to Burger King 👑 any more lol
You know McDonalds has done just about everything posable to eliminate human contact. I don't know about everyone else but I miss being able to walk up and interact with a human. I've just stopped going in there I don't want to order lunch from a vending machine. And Whataburger! OMG! That's the food of the Gods!
There a news story on it. Looks like my comments keeps getting taken down if i link it. Apparently there is an abandoned Krogers building behind the McDonlads one.
As for your comment about the new boxier design for McDonald’s: it not just that, it’s darker colors, and it doesn’t look as well-lit on the outside-the older square florescent (?) lights were brighter, more evenly lit and lit up more area than the LED’s do now.
I wish they would make some retro McDonald's from the 70s and 80s...bring back the mcdonaldland characters , the menu and the fun!

I thought when you bought into McDonald’s you also owned the building so that isn’t the case I guess

The front of McDonald's was a playroom for kids , them and burger King has the playroom, they had a slide that went over the top of that room.
I can’t believe Youngstown is so abandoned now.. I been gone 17 years omg it looks so bad

Agree people don’t have respect for property. Or other people. Leave things alone. Stop breaking things that you have no right to

Yes I was thinking the same thing that it looked a little like a Burger King
It looked like it had the 1998 touch up where most places started to have the same roof look.
You can work on Corvettes too
I am from Youngstown but have been gone for 30 years. You never list where these are located.
Just saw this today. I work at McDonald’s and can send some of the sweet & sours lol 😂
How do thieves who vandalize these buildings live with themselves? Knowing they've done something wrong? Disgraceful.
They probably think that coz it's abandoned no-one will care or they regret it but they think there's no point beating up themselves over
Pretty sure this is the Mcdonald's I used to work at back in September 2001 when I lived in Youngstown.
the one by me are going automated ordering in drive through in the next week
that place is becoming the point of no return
I went to a McDonald's in Medina Ohio a few weeks ago the only they only had the kiasiok I was horrified almost walked out
I think the best sauce is ranch

This is a very odd design for McDonald’s; almost reminds me of a Burger King or Hardee’s out here in Colorado.

Did this McDonald's relocate or just outright close?
It just outright closed
Nothing will move in there. It's friggin' Youngstown. A town that just had some bad luck like other rust belt towns.
I hate those kiosks things!
I feel like McDonald's should be paying ME for doing the cashier's job!
I love sweet and sour sauce myself.
The nicest part of Youngstown is Youngstown State University!

Youngstown-Salem rd because if you look very closely you'll see a bestway sign @ 0:51-1:01 & turns out it's a convenience store.

This McDonald's looks like a jack n the box kinda
That place is Mcboarded up.
