    There's a mod on steam that replaces the repeater with a supressor that gives you a chance of staying in concealment after shooting. That could solve the execution temptation.

      There's actually a bunch of stealth overhaul mods that let you get off your first few kills in the mission without dropping concealment, and stuff like the combat knife to replace the sword for stealth-based rangers so you can activate silent takedown then run up and shank someone. Or the mod that makes it so that if a shot results in a one-hit kill with no witnesses then concealment doesn't end.

    Maybe Mox is not a bad choice in the final mission just for that last room, where you have 10-20 enemies in sight and you use that ability of his that grants him an action after every enemy action, i think that's even stronger than banish.

      Jon Umine I used Spark on the mid game and his weapon can upgrade in WOTC. That really made him OP enough. I never build him for tank but as a heavy gunner. Sadly, his perk on later rank feel so so. But just Overload + Scope upgrade his aim can surpass 100 easily and no need to rest for this guy.
      Spark is decent in WOTC if you ask me. He still have many flaws but consider a unit that can can shoot 3 times in one turn without tight condition is op enough for me.
      But build Spark in this late of game. I'll disagree.

    • @StayCalm0
      @StayCalm0 7 лет назад

      Spark is amazing in WOTC with an advanced scope and mag. they're easily the best flanking unit and even without cover if you get bulwark for the first pint they'll be plenty tanky to survive. They seem to recover faster than normal troops too so they don't need the infirmary liek other soldiers do

    • @lincolnnoronha4128
      @lincolnnoronha4128 7 лет назад +1

      anything that is leveled up in XCOM2 is awesome. Thing is getting to that level, and early level Spark is just shit. It does not hit, it does not hack, it does not get into cover, it has only one missile and its only gimmick is cannibalizing its own action points.

    • @RedShiftJ29
      @RedShiftJ29 7 лет назад

      SPARK's are great for big pulls and crowd control because they can take multiple actions in a turn with Overdrive. I tend to take my SPARK onto missions with lots of non ADVENT (alien) units on the map because SPARK's hit hard (especially if you specialize them into dealing damage). I can easily take down a Sectopod in one turn with one fully upgraded SPARK and maybe help from another soldier (provided it's been shredded.) Like others said, they're great for flanking. Basically, SPARK's are great 'finisher' units that finish off enemies with flanks, taking on multiple enemies, or unloading two to three shots into one really big enemy with Overdrive.

    Log: Klaus Werner "Scorch"
    Entry 57
    Subject Alpha is down! That should round up all of the Alien Rulers, right? No more that we didn’t account for? Anyways, we found our contact on landing, and I’m glad he made it out. It was a trooper that got freed from the network during a programming session. Mox comforted him when he got back, telling him he’d get in contact with the Skirmishers about their new Brother. Apparently the Trooper, Elion Matrusk had been active for almost seven years before he was freed last month. He… didn’t share Mox’s cool comfort in their previous life. He wanted vengeance, not the freedom of his brothers.
    The first rounds of our “fight club” were today. I was too busy prepping to see 4-20’s match, but he apparently won pretty outright. Homer’s good at hand to hand and stealth, but there’s no hiding in a ring. Apparently, Outrider withdrew so she could bet in the fights. She said she was betting for one of us, but wouldn’t say which one. By the time I was prepped and got in there, Mox and Final were in the ring. That was damn impressive, at least for one side. Final may know how to fight and deceive a human, but not a Skirmisher. When you leg sweep a human, you expect them to crumple when you kick the back of their leg. You don't expect them to grab you by the breastplate and chuck you across the ring. By the time he was getting up, Mox had picked him up by his shoulder, hit him in the chest with his Zapjack, and threw him out of bounds. It’s interesting… it never seemed like he was on the attack until his victory seemed assured. He studied every inch of his opponent his with that same cool, calm demeanor he always has. He may use this bulk and strength to his advantage, but he never uses it as a crutch. I'll have to keep that in mind. Unlike Hajda, for contrast. He’s always depended on his natural skill and body strength to fight his enemies. If they have armor, you cut through it, face your problems head on, that kind of deal. It was clear he never studied my fighting style. We agreed to settle it with weapon only rounds. The moment the fight started, he charged me with a double-handed overhand strike. With one blade, I deflected his strike to drive his blade into the floor, with the other I buried my Arc blade into his chest. He just… crumpled. Kestrel called the match. People seemed almost disappointed.
    Apparently the Lord Archon (and yes, i'm sticking with that) had a living flight computer in that raised forehead of his. It’s body had extremely advanced mini-boosters that outclassed previous known examples. Their thinking that if they salvaged the two of them, we might be able to design a set of armor that could allow anyone the ability of flight, if even in a limited timeframe. The main problem we’ve experienced in this field was the difficulty of maintaining stability, but with that flight computer it should auto-correct itself for anyone. I think they’re calling it the “Icarus Project”.
    I’ve… had a long thinking about our little mole problem here. I… think I might be able to help like nobody else can. I’ve told 4-20 that… I would be able to read the minds of our possible moles. Nobody besides our psionics have practised in psionic protection, so i should be able to tear into anybodies mind I wish. The one problem being… the deeper I search, the more the subject is going to notice something is off. I can only do it sparingly, if at all. But there won’t be anything they can hide.
    I had a long talk with Annette today. She’s finally cleared for combat again, and they aren’t giving her any more breaks. She’s diving into one of the ADVENT cities with another Joint team. This time it’s with the Skirmishers. A forward strike against considerably large gene therapy clinic that hasn’t been able to “offload” in months. We also talked about the future. A little shack on the likes of Germany actually sounds wonderful. It would be nice to not have to fight anymore. I find myself...weary. For everyone, I will fight to my last breath. “You don’t win a battle if you don’t gain anything by winning.”-Erwin Rommel
    We have another mission coming up, and I’m on the Roster. Another one of these ADVENT transmitters put down in a lost sector. Another one of those cases where our contact refused to reveal what it was sending. So it could be bad, or it could be something entirely useless. Still, even if I’m delaying the Elder’s pudding delivery, i'm down for it. I’m going to cut it off here, they’re calling me to the Armory now.
    End of Entry 57
    (Hey Odd, if you're reading this, thank you. I just wanted to formally request the 4-20 be included as our Ranger for the final mission. If you want to make full use of the Chosen weaponry, you would need to bring one anyways. And while I do respect that Dragon has a higher amount of sunk Ability points, And therefore better capability, I would like you to weight the advantage of the bond abilities enhancing Scorch in the final mission, knowing how much he can do in one turn. That, and it'd just be fun.
    TLDR: I'm biased. Please bring Falstro. thank you.)

    For a more interesting tactical play in missions and better AI you could use these mods and Advanced Option:
    • A Better AI: WotC
    • Ruler nerf nerf
    • Nightmare Chryssalid AI WOTC
    • Improved Spectre AI
    • Improved Chosen AI
    • [WOTC] Better Repeater
    Advanced Option:
    • Precision Explosions: Grenade damage falls off from the center of the blast area
    For more variations concerning pod dynamics these mods might be interesting:
    • [WOTC] Randomized Enemy Pod Formations
    • Random Enemy Movement [wotc]
    • [WOTC] Dynamic Pod Activation
    In terms of a more challenging and/or expanded play on the strategic layer you could use these mods and Advanced Option
    • Restored SITREPs
    • Additional Dark Events
    • Additional Mission Types Redux
    • [WotC] The MOCX Initiative
    Advanced Option
    • Grim Horizon: The effects of all dark events are permanent
    (especially interesting for the late game)
    Additionally you could bring more variations to covert missions by using these mods:
    • Covert Action Missions
    • Recruit Multiple Heroes From All

    If I may throw my hat into the ring. The creator of the mods A Better Advent, A Better Barracks, and A Better Campaign, has compiled a group of mods. He refers to it as A Better Everything. I have a lowly Veteran play-through commencing and have found that I'm constantly unsure of the new enemies as I find them(variants of the WotC Advent enemies are randomly spawned). Also included in the collection of mods are a few bugfix mods. One thing I have found that I'm not a personal fan of is the way the new classes are implemented. Shoutout to DerBK for creating the above mods as well as updating most of them weekly.

Next, poor old Mox has just got to be near moving up to usefulness. Up to now he's somewhere on the cusp of dang-that-was-close to i-knew-he-could-do-it. Setting rules for yourself like 'you must make contact in each area within a continent before another' for example could force you to make risky decisions and open up new tactics. I'd bet you and peeps in chat can come up with some really neat stipulations.

    Repeater is generaly OK except banish(make it 2% chance on banish shot), second Chosen should show up from middle of game and be more aggressive, this game is to difficult at beginning and to easy at the end. I think tweaking Chosen can make difficulty more linear. And sharpshooters rules.

  • @michaellundgren6949

    To make the next campaign more interesting to watch, play in a way that makes it more challenging for you. 1. Don't use repeater.2. Don't use Between the eyes.3. Don't kill all the Chosen, pick one to not kill that you will have to fight in the final mission

    As for the final mission, I feel like it was a lot easier this time because of the broken combos you can do that weren't possible before. I was mad that I forgot to take my templar off covert ops before going into the network tower, but I ran the final mission with reaper, darklance + shredder sharpshooter, arashi + katana ranger with serial, specialist with warlock's disruptor rifle + death from above, and two psi ops. All soldiers were colonels with both trees purchased (or at least the good skills from both trees) and I had all three alien ruler armors on and bluescreen and/or blaster launcher in every slot I could fit it. It was pretty much a cake walk and no avatar survived to take an action after his appearance.

    To keep high the difficulty level and the pathos, you could:
    - use grim horizon option
    - limit the number of soldiers, for example: if you have a captain (or lieutenant?) in the squad, soldiers limited to 5; if you have a major (or captain?), the limit is 4.
    This will become a "the few and the proud" run at the ending, except (maybe?) the last mission.
    I completed a tfatp run on commander with vanilla xcom but, with legendary difficulty and the chosen, it would be too frustrating at least and unbalanced at the beginning

  • @AnActualDinosaur

    One small thing I think you can do to make the final half of the campaign more "dramatic" is maybe not kill the Chosen, so:
    a) they'll still show up on missions (even if they're kinda pushovers, it shake things up)
    b) the last mission will have all of them, cause I've heard about it, but haven't seen it yet and it sounds cool for a (not TOO bothersome) challenge
    c) you don't get their weapons which are just stronger versions of your stuff basically, not even something unusual like the bolt caster, the shadowkeeper or the axe
    Another thing is that IMO, yeah, repeaters kills are way too cheap and with Banish they're almost expected not a cool surprise. I don't blame you for using it cause it's part of the game, but the devs kinda screwed up by not making rulers/chosen immune to it, so I think you shouldn't use them next season, cause I was hyped to see the Archon King here (one of the few enemies that can present any amount of challenge end game!) and then he didn't even act.

    You know what was the most, "What if", moment in Xcom for me was when i was looking for the "Lone Wolf" acheavminet on XCOM EW, where i needed to win a UFO mission with only one soldier.
    BUT, on XCOM 2 WOTC, there is one of the advanced options that doubles ALL units HP, including XCOM soldiers, it changes a lot of the gameplay

    FYI - some advice - look at all your soldiers in the training center and see if they have shredder as an XCOM talent. Pick that on every soldier that rolls it - it will give Sharpshooters/Specialsts/Rangers/skirmishers/reapers shredder too, so you don't need to rely on explosives and grenediers to peel off armor. I noticed you struggled against armored targets in past missions. Having 1-3 extra soldiers with shredder makes armor a non issue (and AP rounds largely useless, freeing up that slot for another ammo type or other item) and lets you save explosives for blowing cover, aoe or a guaranteed hit. You may even consider using the shadowkeeper instead of darkclaw because you don't need darkclaw's armor piercing, the shadowkeeper may be a better alternative because it has +aim and crit, as well as a 1 per use ability that gives you 100% hit on any shot (useful if you really need to guarantee a hit). And I think shadowkeeper uses ammo rounds while darkclaw does not but im not 100% sure on that.

      THIS :-)
      I'm playing exactly like that right now, and you could even fight up against a ton of ennemies at the same moment with a 6 units squad like a breeze ^^
      No kidding, you can make some ridiculous turns and do some ridiculous amount of damages.

    • @DarthDionius
      @DarthDionius 7 лет назад

      The shadowkeeper doesn't use ammo. It's the same as any pistol. I tend to play the game with the DLC stuff as it was in original XCOM 2, so you have the special missions for that stuff, and you get the special weapons really early in the game. Of all of them, the Shadowkeeper is by far the most useful (boltcaster used to be good, but with the lost being a thing, it's utterly worthless on any mission where they're present). Just having the additional aim is worth, imo.

    • @DarthDionius
      @DarthDionius 7 лет назад

      Ah right, thanks for that. Yeah, very true. In that case, it's still the same as any basic pistol, I guess, 'cos the normal pistols all use ammo too.

    There are a few Steam Achievements that could make for an interesting campaign:
    Exquisite Timing (beat the game on Commander+ difficulty by July 1st, or July 15th for War of the Chosen). That's what, four in-game months? The time crunch would laser focus the plot missions, and you'd have less research and lower ranked soldiers too.
    The Few and the Proud (beat the game on Commander+ difficulty without buying a Squad Size upgrade). This could be brutal for a while, but it might balance out the Training Center Super Soldier Syndrome. You'd end up with four soldiers with the abilities of a six-person squad, but with the firepower of only four.
    Who Needs Tygan? (beat the final mission using only conventional gear). It doesn't really address the issues you brought up, but it would be fun to watch! Maybe you could do a special Who Needs Tygan? video between campaigns.
    Other than that, an AI mod makes the most sense. I'm using A Better AI: WotC by DerBK. There's at least one other AI mod that seems to be popular, but I can't recall the name right now. I think the author's name is ADVENT Avenger.

    Next campaign force the game to start you off with anything but a Reaper. They are pretty op throughout a legend play through. They can just one shot entire groups of Advent with a single claymore severely reducing the number of casualities and caution required in the Gatecrasher mission and others. Having a Skirmisher is probably the toughest to start with mainly because they are meant to be aggressive and if they aren't they kinda suck and with such little hp early on they will basically be a normal soldier. Templars are pretty legit though. Reapers are broke. You are forced to have Reapers in the story line but there is an option to make you start at one of the other two.

    aldo if there is a mod for injury and fatigue timers veing extended,so tired soldiers are mych more likely to occur. I would love to see a campaign where the drain on your resources from having to recruit new soldiers or revitalise soldiers is so high that it would be impossible to get to the final mission with all your best guy's and all plasma weapons and advanced explosives ect. You would have to make tough decisions such as,heal up a great soldier VS research plasma grenades, that would suck. but be very fun xx

    Having played through War of the Chosen on L/I, one of the things I liked about this is that you can extend the campaign as long as you want and make your squad as good as you can possibly get it. Some of my troopers were so good at the end that they could probably solo entire maps by themselves. And being able to delay the avatar project was really cool because I didn't like being forced into the final mission on the vanilla L/I play through. Having said that though, I didn't like how many of the missions became several hours in length because you had zombies everywhere, chosen and their summons to deal with, as well as reinforcements randomly coming in all in addition to the regular mission itself. Even on the strategy layer it started becoming a chore to have to deal with all the mission spam when sometimes I just wanted to let a cover ops or research objective finish.

    You could to add a bit of drama, usr the modifiers that Firaxis added to the game in the game modifying options at the start of a campaign, For example, All Dark Events are permanent, or grenade epicenters. And maybe mod wise make it so that you increase AP at a reduced rate, like 50% to keep soldiers at a more manageable/less OP state.

    Another suggestion for next campaign. Disable the introduction missions for WOTC. The start becomes more dynamic, you start with a random faction, random Chosen locations, etc. If you enable the WOTC introduction the beginning is scripted until a point.

    I reckon repeater chance should scale with missing hp so it really is an "execute". So a sectopod at full hp has 0% chance of execution while a sectopod at 1hp has 40% for superior repeaters. Also repeaters should roll independently of hit chance.

    I don't now if they exist, but 3 mods I would love to see are no gun but sniper rifle can get to 100% hit 95% top. 2, make blue screen rounds auto crit electronic enemies no increase damage, and -20% damage against organics. 3, damage falloff for shotguns starting at 4-5 squares.

    I would agree that watching you stream role gets old. I think them being tougher would help but I wouldn't want you to throw people away. A better AI I've heard is a good mode that should increase difficulty as it allows you to trigger the entire map possibly with enemies. Also if you can find something that takes down your damage or increase theirs by a couple of points would work

    I think that next season you should fore yourself into doing research that is story related every other time. For instance if you research a corpse, your next research has to be one that advances the story, then you can do another corpse etc. Also you should complete objectives (Blacksite, Psi Gate) as soon as you get the ability. That would certainly add to the suspense because the Blacksite especially will be a very early mission.

    Maybe for the next campaign you should skip the middle rip jack upgrade because it's bugged and has a 100% chance of stunning (or maybe there's a mod that can fix it?)
    I know mox isn't your most loved child anyway but it seems kinda easy to abuse, and would probably balance the game just that little bit more. I also think that the detection radius mod you're using is a bit scummy although I'm not entirely sure I know how it works, besides sometimes accidentally triggering enemies forces a different game plan and makes for really entertaining episodes.
    Loving the series odd and I'm super hyped for the next one!

    I've been enjoying these very much. I am curious abut what mods you are using, though. I suppose it is more fun watching earlier parts of the game when it's possible for a soldier to be killed in one round, but the later stuff gets tactical thanks to the expanded ability palate. It's not as dangerous, but it becomes a challenge of, "how can I kill this sectopod in a single round, or with a single soldier. Nice too. For more challenge, you might want to disable the mod that lets you see when you'll break a pod. That is what's keeping you from having to react as much as before.

    Btw Chris, the problem at this point isn't that the game is too easy. The problem is that even though it's too easy, you can't declare that you have won. You still need to jump through some needless hoops to actually end the game. Which you could have avoided I think. For example, why do this Facility mission? If you are choosing to do easy content it's (arguably) not the game's fault. Just hurry and finish up the game and start the next one. I had so so much fun watching your first 50-60 episodes which in my opinion means the game is good for the most part. What it fails at is actually pushing you to progress. Which, mind you, people have been hating in the past. People don't like to be pushed to finish the game. So next time, try and finish up a campaign when you realize you are able to do so.

  • @AirballMTG

    I think the root problem is that the Avatar project didn't put enough pressure on you this time around. You got to wait to take on the rulers, you didn't have to take facilities down with tired soldiers, etc. Maybe deliberately don't use the order that reduces Avatar progress (maybe mod that one out altogether), or set yourself some artificial time limit where you have to win the game within X months or the playthrough is over. A bunch of times you didn't need to worry about the Avatar countdown because you knew the card would trigger to reduce progress.

    You had two shots hit - one for 12 and one for 9. (4 health remained after out of 25) the guardian didn't trigger. Just the overwatch and the Killzone.
    Maybe in next campaign choose not to use repeaters at all? More strategy needed then. I have done two campaigns without the "between the eyes" card showing up and interestingly, it seems only slightly harder without it.

  • @Emfbzee
    @Emfbzee 7 лет назад

    I agree with you that the videos contain less suspence. You're now at the point where it takes two soldiers to take down a sectopod or even better takes one soldier to take down a ruler.
    On my own playthrough the excitement lessened around the same time...say from mission 60-ish onwars. Like you only the final mission filled me with apprehension at this point.
    I have two suggestions for a more exciting season endgame (in order of preference):
    1. Focus more on storyline missions,
    2. Use a small(er) squad
    On 1. i mean, take them on before you think you are totally ready. Sounds weird, but you're a good player, so i think you'll make do. It'll be hair-raising yet everso rewarding.
    On 2. it'll have the advantage of less fatigue issues, although woundrecovery time might play a bigger factor, or even loss of soldiers.
    Anyways that's what i think would keep things interesting on your endgame plays.
    Looking forward to a next campaign by you.

    As long as he can remember, Apostolakis always wanted to go to space. As a child his role models weren't athletes or musicians but theoretical physicists and astronauts. When he gazed into the beautiful images taken by the great telescopes he always wondered what could lie behind the night sky.

    My idea is try some of the Advanced options that's been added to WoTC like Grim Horizon: Effects of all dark events are permanent. to make each Guerrilla Ops a difficult decision to choose. but of course that will be BRUTAL near the end game as you have almost all the dark events affecting you.Beta Squad is fantastic of a few reasons: Double health of all the enemies and soldiers. it makes it so unlikely to kill a pod of 3 enemies all in one turn. before the stratigy is to kill ALL the enemies that you triggered as much as possible. but now with Beta Squad. that isn't likely so it gives you the tough decision of which target is the most dangerous for your squad? and which target is gonna be ignored in risk of damaging your soldiers? but of course that's just my opinion.

    Hi Chris just be aware that there can be a bug with executing the Avatars on the final mission. I used banished with a repeater for the first avatar killed it and the nothing happened. Yeah, I think the repeater+banish combo is too OP against Chosen/Rulers. I was surprised when I first saw they could actually be executed. Figured at least those "enhanced" enemies would be immune to it. The repeater on normal single shots is one thing, but with Banish it's a little too cheap. The Archon King gave me hell and I had to fight him 3 times to take him down, so I was looking forward to a decent battle, but nope. For people who are seeing these rulers for the first time, they aren't getting any display of what they're actually capable of unfortunately.

And any mod any weapon or was it more mod able items it's the one that Alowed armor pistols swords and grenade launchers to have modifier. As always I enjoy watching you play keep up the good work.
