It's my first time seeing what the other content of the box are (since legit copies of XP are very rare where I live and cracked copies of XP Pro sell for about $2 per disc were common) and damn did they double down on the words with "xp" on the box and marketing with "experience" and "explore".
I'll never forget my first time learning how to install a OS and it was Windows XP Pro. It really made me more confident in learning how computers work and ended up being a stepping stone for me to learn Linux. Windows XP really was a good OS all things considered.
Did you know that Windows XP is still one of the most used OSs in a ton of different areas? Many computers used in military positions continue to use XP because not only is it an incredibly reliable OS (even though the copies used are heavily modified to suit the military's needs and to fix security issues), but it is also almost always cheaper to continue to use it rather than upgrading to a newer version!
This is the perfect OS aesthetics to me. That blue and green looks so organic and clean. 10/11 just looks sterile and boring in comparison, like the OS itself is dead. Why can’t they add a 9X or XP theme to 10/11?! Seriously, they would get so much good will if they did that.
Seriously, I know I'm biased because XP was the first OS I ever used and I have a lot of nostalgic feelings towards it, but I really think it just looks better.

Oh wow, this is the first time I've seen a new copy of Windows XP where the whole box wasn't completely enclosed in a blister pack, but instead sealed with a simple sticker. My copy of XP Professional came in a blister pack, but the box inside it is the same as yours. Windows XP has the best designed packaging out of any copy of Windows, in my honest opinion.

Nothing will ever replace the feeling of booting up our first Windows XP machine, a Dell Dimension 3000. I installed windows xp and I do remember finding it nice when a service pack might update basic drivers so I could hear the oobe music. I had varying difficulty from audigy cards and drivers working out of the box. Sometimes even a video card would be caught up for a little while too. I remember slipstreaming raid drivers into my windows xp cd's when I would take the time to get updates in there as well. I didn't have much success with the audio drivers. However with windows 10, I have wondered about will I eventually run into a situation with cortana not being able to detect my microphone during the setup. I am not sure if windows 11 has the audio setup feature, but that is the best and only time I use cortana, to setup windows and I like it. I even enjoyed the windows xp tour. I remember running it to see how smooth it ran on newer systems compared to when I first ran it on slower systems where it may not have felt as smooth in all the animations. Sure it never really got much better, but I ran large monitors with large resolutions and I remember it not being the smoothest experience at first.
Windows XP was so good that i switched to Linux before Vista was released and i was happy for eight years . W10 has been "tolerable" for couple of years but i won't be upgrading to W11. :D
Michael, at 15:59 I saw 2xGPUs recognized in Safe Mode. That means there are at least 2 x video outputs available on your computer. Windows was probably using the Intel GPU output and that's why you didn't get any image from the nVidia card.
I always find it weird that I have been using XP a lot when I was young, yet there were so many features, secrets, and easter eggs I have yet to discover. Guess I'm not an XP veteran after all... 😔
The Media Center Edition versions of Windows XP prior to SP2 and MCE 2005 also had the blue progress bar like the Professional versions of Windows XP. Once Microsoft introduced the SP2 update for Windows XP it replaces the boot screen and it also replaces Windows Media Player 8 with Windows Media Player 9.
I wonder how many physical copies of Windows do you have, and by the way, talking about the blue or green progress bar, do you know that Windows Server 2003's bar (the closest version that's similar to XP) is gray?

you need to go into the Bios and set the the Display to either AGP or PCIE only not auto that's why it went black Intel at the time will skip the OBE setup screen only AMD and Nvidia cards work with OBE unless you install the Intel Drivers by doing a Slip stream install of the drivers that's why the OBE was Skiped out of Box Expernce

Thank you Michael for making this well detailed video on Windows XP Experience.
Have you forgot how to play '3D Pinball - Space Cadet' you are not only controlling the Flippers when you push a button. You also change the position of 'for an example' the light in the top (the Re-entry lanes). So you cam get higher point by switching wich is lighting up so you can make the ball activating the one that is not lighten. That is one way to get higher point. 😛 Gool Luck
I remembered when using this Operating System on My PC. Like seeing my Photos when I was Kids, Create something and try anything that I never do before And now, I run Windows 7 because my Windows XP was infected by virus from USB Drive, that I brought to Internet Cafe with my Mate
in my 11 years of working on computers, and after installing XP more times than I can even imagine, I think I have heard the welcome music maybe twice the whole time. It is that rare to have the audio driver working out of the box. You are more likely to have it working on an older system, but even then it is very rare from what I have found.

XP was a rare victory. Microsoft REALLY scored a great one.
When I heard that startup sound my day immediately got better
Michael, at 15:59 I saw 2xGPUs recognized in Safe Mode. That means there are at least 2 x video outputs available on your computer. Windows was probably using the Intel GPU output and that's why you didn't get any image from the nVidia card.
12:48 You just set the date to my birthday:)
This is why I resubscribed, the love you put into these things.
9:16 Wow those specs are small. I usually allocate 2GB of RAM for my VMs, and this OS only needs 1.5GB HD!
Windows XP was realesed 20 years ago. Damn I feel old
2:22 OMG I can't believe Microsoft actually released Windows XP 20 years latter as a 20th anniversary addition!
Awesome as per usual Michael, great job!
Thanks!

I wonder how many physical copies of Windows do you have, and by the way, talking about the blue or green progress bar, do you know that Windows Server 2003's bar (the closest version that's similar to XP) is gray?
Seeing a brand new copy of Windows XP is so surreal.
When the screen was blank, that reminded me of when I updated from Windows 8.1 to 10. I also had a blank screen and had to figure out how to fix it.
Currently commenting on an old video... with an old operating system. That being Windows XP. A Windows XP video... on a Windows XP VM. Nuts! Good video!
usual MJD quality content that never goes as planned yet we love it
Correction: "and that's why we love it"

"Welcome to Windows XP from Microsoft, the new Windows that bring your PC to life"
I remeber this sentence every time I heard Windows XP, because it was the first os I have ever used. Then it was 7.
The MSN icon - my heart!!!!
Watched this while installing childhood and teen-hood software on my retro Windows XP VM. Heh. Maximum nostalgia.
you need to go into the Bios and set the the Display to either AGP or PCIE only not auto that's why it went black Intel at the time will skip the OBE setup screen only AMD and Nvidia cards work with OBE unless you install the Intel Drivers by doing a Slip stream install of the drivers that's why the OBE was Skiped out of Box Expernce
I love the Windows XP Tour.
Ah man this whole video just hit me with a massive wave of nostalgia! I always remember my old E-Machines T1840 Windows XP family computer as a child and every day after school when I was done with homework I always asked my parents if I could play Space Cadet Pinball I was so addicted to that game love that game love the experience with Windows XP! Even when my dad took me to me to his work he always let me play on his work PC a HP Compaq DC5000 with Windows XP installed space cadet pinball. Man I miss the days of Windows XP. Thank you Michael for making this well detailed video on Windows XP Experience.
I love how that CD looks... nostalgic!
Trouble with missing drivers on first boot, or resolution, you are getting the vanilla XPerience ;)
Alright, I liked the intro. I'll go ahead and subscribe.
Now this is an excellent way to celebrate 20 years!
Gool Luck
I remembered when using this Operating System on My PC. Like seeing my Photos when I was Kids, Create something and try anything that I never do before
And now, I run Windows 7 because my Windows XP was infected by virus from USB Drive, that I brought to Internet Cafe with my Mate
in my 11 years of working on computers, and after installing XP more times than I can even imagine, I think I have heard the welcome music maybe twice the whole time. It is that rare to have the audio driver working out of the box. You are more likely to have it working on an older system, but even then it is very rare from what I have found.
Never seem Xp Tour in my life. Nostalgia overload :)
Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP... I love all four.
It's really weird to think that this operative system is as old as I am, I'm kinda proud :)
I'm a millennial and I'm still older than Windows 95. Mind-blowing.
I am older than Vista and 7

Okay, now I have a feeling of "WINDOWS XP IS OUT NOW, LET'S GOOOOO"
