    Thanks for posting this, I had a turbinante reduction and Latera mesh to help my breathing. Previously I had a deviated septum surgery when in the military. It didn't help my breathing but I also don't remember it being that painful. I am 4 days out from surgery and miserable, I don't understand the pain and I can't stop focusing on the nasal splint pain. I didn't want to take pain meds but this level of pain is horrible and I have had many orthopedic knee surgeries and a hand reconstruction surgery. One would think the hand surgeries would be worse than a simple nose surgery. I really hope this helps because it is awful. The VA did my surgery, I feel like I wasn't informed about the pain but it seems other people had a higher amount of pain than anticipated. I too sleep on my side so not getting much sleep either. Before the surgery I always wore those Breath Right Strips but they tore my dermis up, I have sensitive skin. Unsure on what to do for my tape marks, my eyes are a little black too. I have a wedding shower to go to, I hope that clears enough to apply light makeup. At this point my cheeks hurt and my teeth too. I can't taste anything, wondering if I should even go to the wedding reception.
    Can you let me know what you used on your face? My entire nose is peeling now. I have freckles and the freckles on my forehead are even peeling because I have to tape my glasses to my forehead, too swollen to wear them normally. Apologies if I am rambling, I feel bamboozled by the ENT Dr. I don't have a car, I am an avid cyclist so getting around is going to be difficult. I always wear cycling glasses, they will not fit. Even my jaw is sore, my helmet strap will have to be looser than I want it.
    Can you give us an update? Would you do it again? My dog's tail is a weapon, she just tapped my nose lightly and my eyes started to water. My cat loves to give sweet headbonks to my nose, I don't like to hurt his feelings but I just can't do it.
    I hope to get off the pain meds after the splints are pulled. I am nauseated from the pain meds so not eating much. I wanted to loose weight but not this way.
    Thanks for posting this, wish I saw it before the surgery.

      Hi! I am so sorry you are experiencing so much pain, I promise it gets better. I am about a year out since my surgery and I am doing great and breathing so much better and my allergies are soooo much better. I am not a dr but I wouldn't suggest cycling at this time. I also didn't wear my eyeglasses or even contacts during recovery. I slept a lot and just stayed in bed and took it easy. I know not everyone can do that. I remember pain everywhere on my face. Once the packing came out of my nose i felt wayyyyy better. For the tape marks and the peeling I used the Turmeric Body Scrub from roxdoll cosmetics. full disclosure, roxdoll is my cosmetics line but it is truly what I used. after washing my face i rubbed a little between my fingers and then applied it gently to my face, in circular motions and washed it off. the link is here: www.etsy.com/shop/ROXDOLLCosmetics/
      it is the jar with the sunflowers behind it.
      I hope this helps. I think the pain medicine somehow made me feel worse. I had 2 more unrelated surgeries after this and because of how the pain meds made me feel during this surgery, i refused pain meds for the other two surgeries. again the other two surgeries had nothing to do with this one.

      @@ErikawithaK thanks for the reply, the ENT office just called. They want me to come in Friday instead of Thursday to have the splints removed. My heart sank as I was really looking forward to it. I too don't do well with pain meds, I need ondansitron for the nausea. At this point either I remove the splints myself or take them and deal with being nauseated. My brother has a similar deviated septum and wants to know if I would recommend the surgery. I had to be honest with him, right now I don't recommend it. Dermatologist prescribed some sort of cream, I guess I had a reaction to the scrub they use in the op room. After I get the splints out I will order what you recommend. I can't even tolerate applying the medicated cream to my face. Any movement on my face causes the stitches to pull and hurts. I feel like the ENT should have prepared me and others better for the potential pain. I have torn tendons on my toes, I will need surgery to pin them back on and I fully expect that surgery to be more mild than these nose splints.

    I’m 5 days out of surgery. Can’t wait until I can blow my nose again, not to mention wear sunglasses, sleep laying down, etc. I am also allergic to dust. If you don’t have one already, you might look into an air purifier. I got the Coway Airmega, about $200 on Amazon (goes on sale fairly often; black is $160 now). It has a HEPA filter and was recommended by Wirecutter; easy to use. Im always shocked at how much dust it picks up because my house is pretty clean and I don’t have pets. Anyway, thanks for your video

    • @ErikawithaK
      @ErikawithaK  Год назад

      The crust stopped pretty quick for me. When I went for my 2 week check up the surgeon commented on how fast I healed and how I healed as quick as a 10 years old. Which is a good thing. I don't have sleep apnea that I know about, so my sleep was significantly better after the first 2 weeks. I think we all heal differently but my recovery was pretty quick.
