Knies was fantastic tonight, and he's willing to take a hit to make a play. He plays with courage, which is crucial in the playoffs.
I'm a huge Knies fan. The guy plays so hard every game, I swear. I never see him coast. He just needs more puck luck.

Shanahan built a playoff team that can draw from deep talent when players go down. I have never been more impressed with a leaf GM.and coach in well over 40 years.

I gotta go to bat for Sammy a little bit on the 2nd goal. Yes, he fans on the pass the first time but he does get it to Lilly in the corner who has time. Lilly makes a pretty standard, simple bank pass to Edmundson who completely whiffs which actually causes the turnover. Maybe you'd like a save there but to blame it on Sammy flubbing the pass feels like it misses a lot of other things that went wrong.

Marner did have a tough game but I'm ready for our best play maker to stop being wasted on the "shutdown line" when Willy comes back.
I'm a goalie dad so I do have a soft spot for Sammy and his season. Do we need a save - always - but how about you win a d-zone draw when it matters or clear the puck on the pk? Sammy is our guy let's cheer him on!
Also side note I'm up late watching this and watching Hyman get a hat trick for the Oilers..... great for him! I miss him so much. #tear

The first goal, the defense can't let that pass get through.
Defense will be a problem the entire playoffs. Especially since Bruins are gonna be hungry now and when leafs have to play better teams. (If they beat Bruins but I won't hold my breath)

I never really got the whole “Canadian team” thing. I hate every Canadian team with a passion other than maybe Calgary, and they hate the Leafs! They’d never cheer for us either. I cheer for the team with the most Canadian players, because the cup would end up in Canada for longer.

Being a goalie in Toronto is brutal man. The team hangs him out to dry for 2 goals and people want him cut from the team.
The power play goal was an absolute gimme for Boston. The second goal was a clean one-timer in the slot from one of the league's best goal scorers.
I understand wanting a save, but to get upset with him for not having those is a little excessive.

Yes, what is up with him. I think he’s sulking because they took him off of Mathew’s line, I really do. He has never really been good in the playoffs for them, not like his contract suggests, and like he can. It kinda brings me back maybe two years ago? When Sheldon called him / them out and he was like, we want to be treated like men kinda thing, he needs to suck it up and play for the team not him , or don’t resign him, because I do not care what you do in the regular season, this is when it counts, and you can’t flip that switch and go next level, then just go! I know he didnt score in game 1, but he was pretty damn dominant in game 1 too despite that.... super encouraging seeing him carrying over his regular season in tot he playoffs.... we get nylander back and marner remembers how to play hockey and we will be good to go in this series!!!

I really liked what i saw here. We all saw the stats about how the leafs are better on paper and in the stats than Boston, this is the first time this season I really saw it in action.
This team looked great in the second and third. What’s more, Boston looked like they had no clue how to deal with our second wind. They struggled to defend against us in their zone, the number of fantastic shots we got on net that stayed out because their goalie is hot, it could have been 5-2. And when they did have the puck, they struggled against us defensively. They kept getting the puck taken away, passes couldn’t be made and when they were, it was easy pickings for Sammy.
If we carry this momentum and level of play into game 3, I can see us winning the series. It depends on how we come out to play on Wednesday and what adjustments Boston makes.
