    •isomalt crystals (1 cup)

    •heat resistant silicone mat

    Incredible...just beautiful. How much diluted fluid to gold luster do you use?

      I don't actually measure, I eyeball it. I would start with about 1 tsp dust to 1/2 tsp liquid. Then adjust if needed.

    This cake is beautiful! I am going to attempt to make this for my sister's birthday. The question I have is the amount of karo to use. You indicate 2 tbsp but it appears you actually put 4 in the pot. Please clarify this for me. I did a test and unfortunately it broke as I could not get the glass to release. Also, mine did not run very well, I used my torch and that helped. Please advise

    How do you prevent it from being sticky? Because it’s summer where i’m from and i figured that if i place it in the fridge, it becomes foggy, so I just let it sit in the counter, but when I do, it becomes sticky. I don’t have a torch right now, so any tips?

    Love your videos. Question: will a heat gun work the same as a torch for clearing up the Isomalt?

      Sorry I just saw your question! I have not tried, but I would think that maybe you would have to hold it in one spot too long and it may melt it? If you have tried it and it works, let me know ok?

      @@sophisticakesbymary Thanks for responding. I did try it. Heat gun melts the drip. Have to be careful not to make holes. Helps a bit but not ideal. 😘

      Thank you;) if it is left in a cool dry place, it should last for quite a while. I leave them a little on the thicker side to be safe;) Humidity is the enemy.

      @@madushanipeliarachchi6483 Hmmm my guess would be that maybe you needed to let it rest for just a minute before drapping the mat? If you let it cool down just a bit, it may stay a little on the thicker side and be stronger. I am afraid that the humidity from the fridge could melt it. Unfortunately Isomalt doesn't like the fridge in my experience;(

      You bet! It should last quite a while in a cool and dry environment. I am not completely sure exactly how long. I don't keep them around for more then maybe 3 days.:)

      It may be just my tv, but your video loses sound right after the isomalt dries and you remove the mat. What are you using the torch for? Does it make the bowl more clear? This truly comes out stunning!!

    Hi. Why do you use the corn syrup? Will it make it less sticky? Do you have any advice on how to make the bowl not being sticky? Thank you

      Hi! I find that the corn syrup keeps it more clear as it dries;) i not sure why it would be sticky? Maybe let it dry longer? Are you in a very humid climate?

      @@sophisticakesbymary Well, I live in the north of England, it might be humid, I'm not sure. Can the corn syrup be replaced with glucose? I have tried different ways to make it not be sticky but everytime it is. Never put it in the fridge so that is not the issue. Thank you for taking the time to asnwer me

      @@aldinyz hmmmm. Maybe too much water? I have never used the glucose with it, but it may be worth a shot! They are fairly similar. I do use glucose in the sugar sheets instead of cornsyrup and it works in that.

    Does the syrup need to be Cold before it placed on the silicone mat.

      Actually the isomalt needs to be hot or else it won't move. But be very careful as it can cause some severe burns if you touch it. I would suggest using heat resistant gloves. The only reason I didn't is because they were at work:(

    Tap water contains impurities that makes the isomalt look cloudy or discoloured. Apparently, using deionised water is the trick? Here in the UK we don’t have corn syrup so use glucose instead 😊

      Where I work the water is horrible 😫. I have tried purified water and it still turns yellow. At least at home it is just cloudy;)

    Does anybody know if I can keep the isomalt sail on top of the cake in the fridge? or it needed to be placed just before the event? Thank you

      I have never put one in the fridge so I am not sure. They do tend to cloud over so I would just leave it at room temp and place at the event.

      Yeah RUclips won't allow the music to be any lower when you use their music for videos. Unfortunately that is the only way to be sure you don't get copyright strikes, so I have basically stopped using music unless I am not talking. I also can't change it once it has been published;(

      Isomalt does not like the fridge unfortunately:( It can melt, so cool dry room is your best bet;)

      You can but I probably wouldn't. Isomalt is technically candy, but it can upset stomachs.

      I would leave it at room temperature in a cool dry room. I wouldn't try to keep one too long as they do tend to cloud over fairly quickly.
