    Thank you. Usually nobody states the difference between solos/shines and how the original step or break differs direction (forward/backward) when they have a partner and are the follow/lead. Thank you for being precise and explains very well.

    The son style, the way you are describing it, is very similar to the Palladium style. The count is 234, 678. Stepping on the 4 and 8. Great video!

      Yes I prefer Palladium style for dancing On2, I can keep the moves of On1. I still don't understand the need of creating modern Mambo?

    So helpful thank you! I have taken cuban style classes, but one time danced what I thought was "on 2" with my teacher... Turns out that was actually mambo clasico, cuz I went to an actual on 2 class the other night and was like a fish outa water. Very interesting the diff types

    Great video 👍🏻 it helped me a lot to understand why in some sources mambo step looked a lot like son and in others not. I did casino and son for a while, and when I began with modern mambo I was very confused because I expected to find similarities with the son timing. Imagine my surprise by the difference. Can you explain why did mambo change it's timing, and when did it become more modern to deviate from the son basis?

      Sorry my dance friend! Just saw now this comment...! Some people say that when an ON2 Dancer in clubs tried to step forwards on 2 (and the lady was on1 dancer) she would not go back on time and the man would step on her. (LOL) so they changed it to lead the lady forwards and the man stepping back so he wouldn't step on her feet. I think I heard this one from Eddie Torres (King of Classic Mambo) ~ Hope you got your answer my dance friend! Keep on dancing~ Ps: now son and Mambo (on2) everyone (80%) step on 4 & 8, hold the one and step on2 (or 6) but still the man steps back when partnering~

      @@salsaandbachatalessons thanks for your answer! But why do the on2 schools systematically teach nowadays to make a step on the 1 and break on the two? It feels like an on1 with a cheat to kind of make it look like on2, but it sure doesn't feel like contratiempo. In two different schools I did beginners on2 they taught it that way, meanwhile in my head I always hear the contratiempo by starting on 8, holding the 1 and stepping on 2. I became quite frustrated with my teachers because they didn't understand what I am talking about. Whenever I say ok but what about the son count the reply was "son is for old people".
      I am glad to hear from you that most on2 dancers dance actual contratiempo and not this 1,2,3 trick that I find so annoying.

    Nice explanation about the "Salsa" on 1 beats. Also I really like your Son Cubano move. The question is -- when you talk about "Mambo Clásico" -- do you refer about the wayNew Yorkers danced in the Palladium in the early 50's? Or do you refer about the Benny More Mambo that were Mambo-Son Montunos with Rumba/Descarga fugues at the end -- or the Jazzy style of Perez Prados Mambo that were derived from the Guaracha-Boogie boogie when he was the arranger for Julio Cueva orchestra in the early to mid 40"s, as well as Casino de la Playa Orchestra? Mambo was derived from the Danzon and Danzonete in the late 30's -- but in the early 40's it was referred as the fugue of the guaracha -- which Perez Prado was one of the developers of the style.

      @salsaandbachatalessons  3 года назад +1

      Mambo moderno if you're on2 dancer amigo~ :) On2NY is mambo moderno~ Take your time, learn one well & then try more, you don't need to know all in one go, give yourself time for your body to get used to the differences. :)

    so basically LA style and NY are the same besides the break of the count..

    • @salsaandbachatalessons
      @salsaandbachatalessons  2 года назад

      Well yes, but style makes the main difference & because of timing change you will "adopt" a different "style" of musicality~ More small details of course but these are the main ones! I'll be making with my partner a more "clear" video showing everything more clear~ ;)
