I put together a small list of answers to frequently asked questions. Also a few people asked for a transcript of the video and I provided that as well. You can see the URL by clicking on "Show more" below the video. It is at the bottom of the description. Thank you for watching!

This is an excellent job you have done explaining Salsa Rhythm. I am a serious bassist and have always been able to feel the rhythms of Salsa. However being self-taught, you have given me a complete understanding of what I've been playing all these years. It's like when I purchased my first bass book, I got so I would know what I was already playing, so I could put a name to what I was playing. Again this is one of the best teaching video's I've seen on RUclips. Thanks a million.
    Peace

This is probably the best and most concise video I've ever seen explaining timing and rhythm. Very well put together and very thorough! Thanks for doing this!

Excellent video! Great explanations. I don't consider myself a beginner salsa dancer but in terms of understanding the music and being able to change my dance to reflect the music, I am very much an absolute beginner. I think a grasp of salsa musicality will push my dancing up to the next level.

Amazingly well explained, good job man! Most dancers try to explain everything by making a video showing just talking and dancing, but a little multimedia goes a long way.

This is awesome! Please post more of these. Maybe ones which involve some exercises for us to do, where you play some music and we're supposed to find the count and then you give us the answer. Maybe start with some simply tunes and then progressively complicate them and up the tempo. Thanks again!

This was excellent for me and I'm not a beginner. I've been dancing salsa for about six years and dancing to pop/hip hop my whole life. You explained aspects of
salsa dancer in terms that I'd never heard it before. You're explanations really clarified some things for me. Thank you!

Very Very well done! I send all my students to this page after their first class. I wish this was available back when I began. Thank you!!!

I have been to salsa classes where they blatantly refused to explain anything about the music as related to the dance, as if it's too complicated for beginners. Thank you!

As someone who is well versed in regular POP music (I'm a DJ), I must admit that it took a few times to watch this over and over before I "really" understood where I was going wrong with getting this beat count in salsa. You mentioned it right in the beginning, right in front of my face. Then, at the end, you hit the nail right on the head with the "shine" part. That was exactly how I felt before I saw your video. But, now, after watching your video for the 4th time, and having really started to examine how people really dance together BEYOND JUST THE CLASSROOM SETTING, I happy to say that I am no longer afraid of this dance. You've broken it down 100% accurately from the perspective of a newbie/rookie.

I think you did a great job of explaining everything Andrei. I'm going to re-post this for my friends that may not have any knowledge of Salsa. Good Job.

Very well explained, especially the role different instruments play and how they overlap in Salsa. I've taken beginner and intermediate beginner classes and I've found that many instructors spend little to no time at all on explaining the musicality and rhythm of salsa. In the end you get students who are counting but don't know what they are counting to, and in the end they are not dancing with the music at all as they are more focused on counting. I agree with Ana's comment below. If salsa instructors are not teaching this already, then they should make this video this mandatory for all new students.

Well done! Very easy and clear explanation. I'm not a beginner but I would strongly recommend your video to the ones who make their first steps in salsa.

best motivation that I've heard for learning those dreaded shines!

This is really good: Complex enough to do the subject justice. But also simplifying or rather cutting to the core of what is relevant for the dancer. Thanks most of all to that encouraging pointer as to why I should train shines and what I should be looking for when doing just that.
