God bless the og pizzarias of the longest endurance through sleet and snow and everything else. May they allllll remain in the gracious veins of proper health and prosperity. I love them all. ❤❤❤ 🤗
Born and raised in that neighborhood. Back in 1950. 6th. Ave and 20th. St. Right up the block from where you recorded. I remember when Gino’s dad opened that place. I was 23 then.
I've never been, but now I have to! I lived in Dyker Heights for a bit, and Bay Ridge has its share of good spots. I'm back in Flushing now, and there's great spots here, too. The one place I'll always miss is Sal's on Northern Blvd from my childhood.... The owner used to smoke behind the counter while making pizza, perhaps that's why it was so good 😂😂😂 (imagine that now?!) I 💯💯 agree about the old school neighborhood spots. Thanks for the review, excellent as always!
Thank you! Yeah, it's such a classic neighborhood spot that has a lot to like about it. I know what you mean regarding childhood restaurants. I have a number of them myself. Even if I've been to far better places these days, they'll always be special.
Thank you! Yeah, it was a really nice lunch of pizza and going into the restaurant itself with such a classic interior really added to my overall experience!
You're right! That crust is amazing! When it came time for me to pay, I was shocked with how little my bill was. For a second I thought they didn't account for everything I ordered.
Cool vid! Who knows what the future will bring, but I’m hoping to road-trip from northern Iowa to Luigi’s this summer. The place is an institution and what a fun experience it would be to drive 17 hours to indulge in some real New York style pizza. Will bring my 16 year old daughter so she can see that there’s more to the world than cornfields!
I see an eyebrow 😂😂😂 I know but I can’t see her. Love you content! The background sound is untouchable 👌🏾I would love it if every review had random people just going ham in the background. Maybe everybody would!
Mark Iacano from Lucali Pizza gave the highest remarks and said that Luigi's pizza is the top. That's an unusually thick Grandma slice. Grandma slices tend to be the priciest slices in the $4.00+ range at most places. I know a place that makes a great grandma pie when I drive through Lakehurst, NJ, known for the Hindenburg disaster. The owner explained that it uses Sicilian pizza dough and is pressed hard into a rectangular pan. Their grandma slice is very thin, so cracker-crispy, and the outer crust edge is like a crostini bread stick. They also decoratively pipe pesto on it. Their Margherita slice is great too and so flavorful, but their standard pizza has no flavor at all. 🤔
I can see why Mark would give the place such praise, it's delicious! Grandma slices can be excellent and I really enjoyed that one at Luigi's. Having spent most of my life living in Chicago, it's a type of slice that I haven't even heard about until I moved to NYC.
For sure! But at the same time, I'm really glad that there are places like Luigi's still serving stellar pizza at affordable prices when everything else seems so expensive!
Let's be honest. you could've made "Do The Right Thing" about Luigi's in South Slope but just pointing a camera at the front door. He's probably a nice guy. But you know he's seen, said, and done some off chit in his day. No doubt the pizza's a good quintessential slice and cheap. You gotta respect that. But I feel like it's gotten a ton of social media hype when it's not *that* uncommon to find family owner-operated slice joints/pizzerias from the 70s. They're all over the tristate.
Indeed, there's a ton of classic family owned pizzerias, but I've never seen one as affordable and at the same time, delicious as Luigi's with such a charismatic owner inside a restaurant space that really hasn't changed.
Luigis is better than Lucali, how do I know? Creator of Lucali says it himself! Luigis is part of the inspiration. At least the Lucali near me (Miami) isnt even half of Luigis, but NYC does have something special.

Well said!
Oh man, this is like what every pizza place looked like when I was a kid! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!

Nice!
I heard that crispy crunch and have never been more jealous in my life. That looked sooooooo good.
It was amazing pizza! I hope you get the chance to try it.
This place uses the right amount of sauce, unlike most other places.
Grandma slice looks like the way to go here
Absolutely, everything was well-balanced! Indeed! The grandma slice was my favorite.
Those pizza slices looked picture-perfect!
They were some indeed solid slices!
You could hear (the crunch) how good that pizza was. A solid video yet again.
Thank you! Yeah, that crunch was so satisfying!
Great description of the place, loved how you described Gio. I think you described this place and the pizza perfectly.
Thank you! I just wish there were more restaurants like Luigi's. I love how they play such a great part in the neighborhood and the community.

In my option the best pizza is the traditional ny pizza. Great review James and well done Luigi’s Pizza!
Thank you! Yeah, I agree. The classics endure for a reason.
you cannot beat old school Italians food thats Brooklyn pizza at its finest..
Absolutely! It's an iconic spot!
Great video. Looks like it was a delicious pizza adventure
Thank you! Yeah, it was a really nice lunch of pizza and going into the restaurant itself with such a classic interior really added to my overall experience!
2:22 Gta Background Dialogues Lol XD
Haha!
Greetings from Moscow 🇷🇺 I mount my videos and put yours in the background so that it won't be boring to work
Greetings! That makes me happy to hear! Thank you so much!
The crust is so on point at that place. I feel the cheese is lacking though but everything else is really good. And shocked how cheap a pie is.
You're right! That crust is amazing! When it came time for me to pay, I was shocked with how little my bill was. For a second I thought they didn't account for everything I ordered.
Wow you finished all 4 slices O_O it must be tasty haha good video :)
It was so good! I still could've taken down a couple of more slices too!

That sounds like a great adventure! I hope you enjoy it!
Please check out L&B's Spumoni Garden next! Another Brooklyn/NY institution. Grab some spumoni after and you have a perfect summer day
That's a spot I've always wanted to go to! It's pretty far from me, but I will try my best to get there sometime this summer.
That grandma slice looked next level
It was fantastic!
Un artista Salentino della nostra passione per il sapore ❤
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Btw, which watch are you wearing???
Thank you! I was wearing the Seiko SKX009, it's my favorite watch!
Woofing down 4 slices! What time and day did you go? I've tried to go, and I did not have time to wait. All crisp and solid video.
Thanks! I actually went on a Thursday at about 12:30. There were only a couple of people ahead of me in line and the wait wasn't bad.
Thanks James! Looked delicious! Do you subway and bus travel all over the boroughs?
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I pretty much either take the subway or walk.
love it! thx for the tips!
Thank you so much!
Great pizzas and a crazy guy? Count me in!
Haha!

Haha! I had trouble trying to keep a straight face when that guy was talking, but it was pretty amusing. Thank you!
My fav slice in all of nyc... Joe's on carmine st is my 2nd fav.
Yeah, Luigi's is a fantastic place and you can't go wrong with Joe's.

Wow, $18.75 for a large pie in New York? I feel like that's dirt cheap! He could probably easily charge $28-$32 if he wanted to.
For sure! But at the same time, I'm really glad that there are places like Luigi's still serving stellar pizza at affordable prices when everything else seems so expensive!
That’s cheaper than a large pizza in Rochester, Minnesota!
@@unleashed1966 It's a great bargain!

A real New York slice
Absolutely!
🍕🍕🍕👌✌👍
Thank you!!
John's of Bleecker St. is second rate. Freddy's in Whitestone is the best slice in all 5 boroughs!!
It's about twenty bucks for 4 slices maybe even 25 to be honest I'm from Flatbush
It's indeed expensive these days!
Your reviews are wonderful
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
Please do more you are amazing
@@PatriciaRoggero Thank you! I have plenty more reviews coming up!
@@Jamesnu Greatt
P.S. ALWAYS wear blue shirts! Hubba. Hubba.
I see an eye brow, we need to get you a lav mic. Lol
Haha! Yeah, that would've certainly come in handy with this video!
12.50 for 4 slices is considered cheap 🤔?
Unfortunately, it is for NYC.
absolutely, this is world class pizza in NYC! You need to get out more
E bravo gigi 😢
Luigis is the truth
It's a great place!
Has anyone ever told you that you kind of look like Tom Hanks ? Like the young skinny Tom Hanks...
I've never heard that one, but I like Tom Hanks. Thank you!
I Disagree that Luigi’s isn’t on the level of John’s of Bleecker or Di Fara. I think it’s actually better than both.
Fair enough. Luigi's definitely serves great pizza!
an iconically disgusting pizza
close your mouth when you eat.......
new york pizza is iconically disgusting pizza
A lot of people would disagree with that statement.
Luigis is better than Lucali, how do I know? Creator of Lucali says it himself! Luigis is part of the inspiration. At least the Lucali near me (Miami) isnt even half of Luigis, but NYC does have something special.
Absolutely! Luigi's is a great place that has certainly inspired and had an impact on other pizza establishments.
