  • How to replace your tweeter speakers in your FRS, BRZ, or FT86.
In this video I will be showing you how to do the wiring in your tweeter speakers in your FT86 Car. The wires will be connected positive to positive and negative to negative.
---Drivers side you will have 4 wires from the stock Tweeter speaker connector you will have 1 White Wire and 1 Purple wire which will be your positive wires which will get tied together and added to the positive of your speaker wire. Next, you will have 1 Pink and 1 Red wire which will be your negative wires, which will get tied together and then added to the negative side of your tweeter speaker.
---Passenger Side you will have 4 wires from the stock tweeter speaker connected, you will have 1 White/Blue Wire and 1 Yellow Wire which will be your positive and will get tied together and then added to your positive wire on your new tweeter speaker. Next, you will have 1 Black/Blue Wire and 1 Black wire which will be your negative wires, which will get tied together and then added to your tweeter speaker's negative side.
When you are installing these it is important to consult the instructions manual or company of the speakers, as your new speakers should have some sort of capacitors or junction box/amplifier setup within the lines or the speaker themselves.

For connecting wires another easier way instead of solder is just to use some wago 221 connectors, they should hold up quite well and be worlds easier than soldering

that little box is most likely a mini crossover. it filters out low frequencies to ensure that if there is any error in you tuning either via head unit or amplifier that it does not play any low frequencies out of the tweeter and blow it almost instantly.

also best way ive found to solder wires together is to get a drop of solder on the iron and just put it on the wire, just be careful not to do too much so it doesnt drip

I wish I could make an install video but I won’t exactly have the time to recently been too busy. The other speakers are extremely simple though. The rear speakers just need to connect the positive and negative wires on the right spots on the terminals on the speaker itself. Positive being Red and Negative being Black on the connector, I still used the OEM connector I just cut the wires and soldered them to the terminals, but you can also use crimp connectors if your speaker uses them. I had to drill holes in the OEM bracket to fit the new speakers. The door panel speakers I just went to Best Buy and bought the mounting kit they had for the speakers I bought, took some figuring out but it’s pretty simple. I have pictures of how I wired the door speakers if you would like to see. The other front speakers were the same situation as the back speakers in terms of the wiring, after that I tried to modify the brackets that the OEM speakers were on to accommodate the new speakers

Just installed new tweeters in my frs and this video helped me with the wiring!
Question: I installed an amp and subwoofer in my car. I pulled signal from the oem amp in the back to power the aftermarket setup. Here’s the problem I recently realized the door speakers aren’t playing music I know they get power from the amp so do you think we pulling signal from the factory amp made them not work anymore?

That i’m actually not sure about, I haven’t done that stuff before so i’m not too familiar with it, maybe there is a channel for the door speakers that isn’t connected or something
