I would either pick the grimmspeed one cuz it looks really nice and cuz of the horsepower…or INJEN cuz of the horsepower..but if I got the INJEN one maybe we could use like a carbon fiber wrap to make it a little nice 😬!

Sweet series! Keep it coming, lets see what you have next...
I am pretty sure that you could just add a K&N drop-in, aftermarket induction hose and dremel out the stock snorkel to get more suction and it would stand up to any intake listed, and the ones that aren't.
Pretty happy with my Inje closed airbox. Perfroms well no issues at all and its enclosed
I am running an K&N intake in combination with a roar axelback and I really love the sound (in Germany we say: das hast du aber nicht eingetragen oder?😂)
Thanks a lot! was helpful...👏👏👏👏
i will go with Grimmspeed, or Injen...
also the video about exhaust. 👏👏👏
Glad it was helpful!
Have the Grimspeed and love it...had tube paint matched to my RS1
Grimmspeed is great!
So I have a TRD intake that comes from TRD itself. Anyone know how much power gains (plus the TRD fatback exhaust) will have on my Scion FR-S?
The TRD intake should be in the top 5
How about the K&N cold air intake?
Is it possible to install with the HKS Supercharger Kit?
While I love my Perrin intake on my BRZ aside from install being slightly more difficult the BIGGER problem is maintenance is a bigger pain too. Every time you need to clean the filter you need to take your front bumper off. sigh*
Might as well get just the Perrin intake tube and keep stock airbox.
Have you had any bumper issues like slagging not fitting properly?
Some faults I see with this video: with the Perrin intake you guys mention how it ‘makes sure it gets the coldest air possible’. The problem I see with this is the fact that all of these options that were shown in this car use the stock tube that extracts air from the same place as the Perrin intake (also a con of the Perrin intake is you have to remove the whole front bumper to re-oil it). Next, you went with the supposed power gains with these intakes. This is a problem because these parts don’t add power without a tune. They may give you 2-3 more without a tune, but the Ecu isn’t going to play with the AFR to get a perfect amount and will always give it more fuel than it needs because running rich is way better than running lean (in terms of engine wear). Lastly, you didn’t include the TRD intake. I assume it is because you guys directly don’t sell it because it is a Toyota part, but it is claimed to be the best without spending an absurd amount on it. It does help a little with the torque dip, throttle response is better, good induction sound, amazing fit and finish, and it looks good in the engine bay. On top of that, people were claiming up to 16 extra hp with a tune (compared to a tuned but stock car), which is impressive for just an intake (give or take some power here, but generally that is at the top of the actual gains of tuned vs tuned of most of these intakes.
thanks for info
Cool story
@@GAMRMNTS2 cool story? I’m just giving true advice to people who are actually looking for performance on their cars, not just being told they are gaining performance without any real gains being made.
What’s the part number ?
@@Armi21 it’s not hard to find, just look up FRS TRD intake. PTR0318130
looking to get the mishimoto because it’s CARB legal , will it need a tune after install?
Before even watching this video, 100% just use a drop in filter like a K&N.
It doesn’t sound the same though
It is good enough though
@@myjpkl not at all tbh. It really raises your intake temperature. I went back to OEM air box with K&N drop in filter 😅 doesn’t sound the same but definitely runs better
@@Faith_Driv3n Yea im saying the oem with K&N drop in should be good enough . $330 can spend elsewhere. I'm using Toms drop in .. more or less the same.
@Dutch Berry for daily drive, yes. If the car is a weekend toy, K&N drop in filter is suffice
The Grimmspeed Intake also has a black option
damm, i was legit thinking the grtimspeed would be perfect if it came in black
@@stephenyoung4652 yeah man I have the black version it’s clean
hi there does any of this air intake fit the 2022 gr86 thank u
THANKSS
hi does the injen evo fits the 2022 gr86? thank u
Numbers backed up by promise from the manual :D probably tested in laboratory environment can become a HP loss in real life like that test on the 2nd Gen BRZ. But Thumb Up for the entertaining showcase ;)
Explain further
Is the Grimm speed intake washable
Is the grimspeed carb legal?
I highly doubt the perrin intake would give you any power with that many bends.
~$300+ for mediocre gains, or $50 on a drop in filter for a similar margin of gains. Wish i had done more research 4 years ago before i jumped the gun on my grimspeed intake, tho i still like the bling it provides.
Did the intake change the sound at all?
@@michaelw6277 In the case of my car, 15 brz, the grimspeed intake added some intake noise but a significant amount due to the filter being enclosed by the heat shielding.
Drop in filter is a scam 😂
@@mrlee4579 why?
@@mrlee4579 that actually makes no sense and you’re probably not even old enough to drive yet 👍
The injen Evo I hear sucks water in rain such a shame
which ones have carb number
i have the Grimspeed in blaq.
Anyone ever use the Corsa Intake? Seems nice and can’t find much on it
It is pricy.
Someone should do a video on ITB options for this car, as I’ve seen no one really mention them
Greddy makes an ITB setup!
Yea I know, but so does SAARD and another brand, but no one talks about them
I own the GrimmSpeed in black
Great choice!
What about the blitz
2017 Toyota 86 stock I’m tryna get 250 hp what should I do ?
Give us a call at 651-348-8811 and we can give you our recommendations!
The stock one is cold air
Dont change ot
So where are the Dyno sheets to back up these "gains"
Every one of these reported gains, come from the companies themselves whether it's a verbal claim or a dyno sheet. Check out the links in the description to learn more about each!
Mishimoto intake - Installed 1 day after.
Yesterday, checked the intake box after driving 15mins to home. Outside and inside the box are HOT!!! Hot as I can’t touch with my hand more than 3 seconds. Means engine is sucking HOT air all the time. Fuel usage is 12.5!!! It was 9.5 with oem intake.
There’s 5mm gap around the pipe and box! Also gaps between the box and the cover. Hot air gets sucked in from these area and makes cold air from the front to be hot as well. Shit product design. I wonder have they even tested it?
End up I had to add in rubber seals to block all the gaps. Now I have absolute cold air.
Totally not worth it. K&N filter in oem intake box is good enough or even better.
There's some hp gains on the drop in K&n filter?
Personally I prefer the mishimoto intake.
Would you need a tune
@@eduardfernandoajtum173 A tune isn't necessary for a Mishimoto Intake.
Here you have a link to a youtube video from Mishimoto chanel.

It shows you how to properly install and everything you need to know. Have a nice day
I didn't knew air intake increases horse power
Shouldve done the injen cyborg
#teammishimoto ftw
Do you need a tune for the INJEN INTAKE ?
I recently ordered mine so I’d like to know as well lol
no
Some will say yes some will say no, but will they tell you why… thats the gamble. Yes you will want a tune else the car will run a bit lean resulting in higher temps (you wont necessarily get a CEL as a result) The grimspeed intake is no exeption to this as I experienced it first hand.
how is the HPS intake?
With that being said.
None of those produces more then 3%gain on those 150kw of power... sorry, but not even possible. Nice video though, you got a like for production, and think of going perrin big cai pipe or apexi drop in on mine. But the gains claimed are not possible, especially for the one +15hp gain...
I think the brands making these larger claims of up to 15hp are trying to trick customers into thinking these are gains you'll get from a stock configuration. But what they're really saying is up to 15hp, and then the fine print kicks in like once you've made other mods, gotten a tune etc.
@@edwardhoulihan4917 Grimspeed CAI + Tune from Open Flash will get you that 15WHP.
@@CobraKaiNoMercy exactly, gotta do a tune etc. It's not just the CAI
I have the grim speed but on my OFT it says my STFT & LTFT are way off but the car runs fine
Your car need a better tune
@@Carlos.Rivera I went back to OEM intake with a K&N drop in filter. Car runs way better and intake temperature went down a lot. They really are hot air intakes like everyone says
@@Faith_Driv3n good to know. I'm running JDL uel headers with oft and stock airbox with k&n pannel filter... later I added perrin inlet hose. Those intakes for me is waste of money
@@Carlos.Rivera I was looking at the same inlet hose. Do you feel any difference with it and does it sound different without the resonator box ?
@@Faith_Driv3n i can hear my exhaust more, with header it sound amazing
K&N
I use none of these
False claims - there is NO such us HP gain - tested, proven in US, Australia, Europe
