Dude thank you so much for this video! I have a gr86 and I couldn’t find a decent phone mount lol I’ll definitely be getting the one mentioned in the video. Great quality keep it up! Subscribed :)
Agreed on all, I did them all the day after I got my car. LEDs for the interior, vanity mirrors, trunk, and doors make a huge difference. I used a likewise shift knob but I also got a carbon fiber ebrake handle (not sure if it’s under $100). One suggestion I’d add would be a wireless CarPlay adapter
@@javierrosario6372 good shit man, I didn’t order but I did make like 30 phones call to find one lol in the trim and color I wanted. Crazy how the chip storage is affecting all of this.
The start and light button were nice. The shift knob would be better if it replicated the one coming with the car more closely while the drift button is definitely goofy, and if anything I would've gotten one to simply match the satin finish of the knob, but no excessive protrusion.
the whole point of the drift button is to remove the spring in the hand break.... otherwise its just a normal e-brake. its meant to drop when you pull it so you can drift.....
RACESENG brand shift knobs are the best on the market if you are interested I use there knob in my 10th gen si. Would highly recommend, just letting you know it is pricey
I bought light up door sill plates from Aoonuauto. Was disappointed the animation was basic as compared to their demo video. (I might eventually change the controller), but these are under $100. I do recommend the battery ones though because I got the hardwire ones and I’ve been trying to figure out the door-sensor wiring for months. The battery operated one uses a magnet you stick on the door, but I can’t find any instructions from someone who had done it simply and successfully. For much less than $100 you can also find STi branded sills, and they’re just pop off and pop on, easy.
You weren’t lying about the phone mount. But since you still have to plug it in for CarPlay I suggest grabbing a wireless CarPlay dongle like I did. I grabbed the Ottocast U2-Now which fits very snug inside the center-console right next to the USB’s. It’s actually $120 and there might be one slightly newer but make sure it at least has 5Ghz band, the older ones are slow to connect. This one takes about 25-35 secs (about a cold-start). I have had some connection bugs, but it works 95% of the time, if it fails I plug it. I tried a dash mount and it wouldn’t stick to the soft plastic 😂 I gave up on one that I could wire-up, especially since the 13 Pro Max is heavy AF. There is a tiny delay, but on these newer ones its barely noticeable, less than 1 sec. Edit: Also make sure to update it.
Hmmmm, nice list, but…. - I like the soft halogen light instead of the bright led in the interior - Uhh, the reverse lockout is different on the new model, so that’s why your shift knob can’t be installed correctly. Now, it’s not covering the reverse lockout like it should. I have the GR knob which came on my 86 - The parking brake knob is nice, looks better than the chrome - Don’t need a phone mount, I use CarPlay, so never touch it once it’s plugged in and left in the console. Thx for the vid anyways. Your exhaust sounds really horrible by the way, at least to me.
That shift knob fitment is triggering some serious OCD. There are aftermarket knobs that fit, but people keep putting on knobs that have to sit raised up, use washers or grind on. I couldnt live with it looking like a hack job inside my new car.
idk but personally, i like my car to be a disco, so I would install headliner stars if yk what i mean and some LEDS under the seats/where your feet is. and just some stereo mods like a woofer and thats all but overall your video is what I also would change
Please do not damage any OEM parts like he did in this video. Keep them all so that if/when you sell the car, you can put them back on or at least provide them to the next owner...
Btw the old start-stop STi buttons had a different shape on the inside (rounder instead of square or vice-versa). Did you have any issues? Which site you actually get it from? Cuz I want to make sure I get the updated one so I won’t have to file down the inside to get it to fit. Then again, this isn’t an STI button huh?
@@ChrisLowpes Sweet, thank you! I'll order that one. Gonna grab a red E-button and a red reverse lockout lever to go with my black Likewise Ghost shifter knob. Just gotta figure out if the $60-80 namebrand levers are worth it over the $20 ones I see on amazon. I also wonder if the seats are the same size as gen1, would be nice to find a custom cover that fits my base cloth.
@@ChrisLowpes Btw there's a socket under the door for a courtesy light. Since I have light up door sills I'm not gonna bother. But I was able to remove the door and get to it by unscrewing 3 screws by both handles and prying it off. You can put a custom logo there. Think I might grab the OEM+ speakers until they release an amp and Sub. Yeah it's expensive, but the hassle of trying new things on a new car is daunting, door speakers seem easy.
That cheap pastic part about the glove box should be covered in matching suede from the instrument binical and door toppers. Its such a horrible hard finish.
Why do people insist on putting their phones on a dashboard? If you have CarPlay or android auto, then you’re good. Also, having a phone so visible in your car is super dangerous
Hey man, I have a question about the 2022 GR86, if you know. It says it comes with an 8 speaker system. Is that just separates (woofer / tweeter) up front and back? Or is it the 6 speaker system from the base model plus a Subwoofer or two?
none of them come with subwoofers. it's misleading because they actually count each speaker on your front dash as two speakers (tweeter and mid) and then you have the two front door speakers and the two rear speakers for a total of 8 speakers.
I agree only with the LEDs, it makes a world of a difference. However the others are less functional and more cosmetic. Now, if we are talking about OVERALL MODS, how about a replacement K&N filter? Now that would be a mod that would bring a decent 5 HP to the table.....Think I am talking bullcrap? Check out this video, at around 6:07, the K&N filter is tested on a smaller, lower horsepower engine and the results? Over 4 HP.....Much better return per dollar than a CAI or Exhaust system, no? Way less than $100 and the #1 mod. Period. ruclips.net/video/GS69owXpGdY/видео.html
I like the warm halogen bulbs. Gives a more cosy feel.
Can't see shit with those bulbs 😭
@@ozzydior meh
You can of course find warmer LEDs, you can get the whole colour range. I'd go with a 4000K light, while that one had to be around 6000K

I definitely cringed hard...yikes bro
The the red drift button looks like my dog when he’s happy
That’s crazy.
The shift knob problem is because it's designed for the 1st gen. The 2nd gen ones should work just fine.

Good luck with that stainless steel shift knob in cold or very hot weather 🤔
I don’t want my e-brake to look like a red rocket. But all of the other mods look cool.
Interior led map lights are optional, so yes you can get leds from factory but I don’t think most cars will end up with them.
