    Classic rule for those who teach ethics:

    • @JopzzSD
      @JopzzSD Год назад +3

      I googled this and can not find what you’re talking about and I’d like to understand how that statement relates to ethics.
      Does it mean the sign points one way and it will never ever walk the other way regardless of temptation, and that’s ethically how people should be too?

    • @ottokarl5427
      @ottokarl5427 Год назад +9

      @@JopzzSD It is a translated quote from the german ethic philosopher Max Scheler. Apparently he once was asked, after visiting a brothel, how that can be explained with the ethics he teaches. He then said "Der Wegweiser geht auch nicht den Weg, den er weist" ("the roadsign does not walk the path that it points to").
      It is meant as a justification, that someone who is teaching ethics doesn't necessarily has to be ethical themselves.

    • @JopzzSD
      @JopzzSD Год назад +5

      @@JopzzSD No it means that a roadsign only points in a direction, but it stays stationary. It doesn't walk in that direction. "Pointing in a direction" is analogous to teaching ethics. "walking in that direction" is analogous to living the ethics you teach.

    Small detail but there actually could be 4 queens in the hand (if we're talking texas hold em)! Player that folds before Gerard holds 2 queens. The man with two pair can have one queen in his hand and another on the board. Gerard can complete his queen high flush using the same queen on the board (without holding one directly in his hand). However, although the action in the hand is possible, it is still pretty unlikely.

      Exactly. Say it's Q clubs 7 clubs 5 clubs on board and he has J of clubs 10 of clubs, it's still technically considered at Q high flush. If somebody else has a flush smaller than the Q on board, say 3 of clubs 4 of clubs, they both have Q high flushes, but they go to 2nd highest card, 3rd highest card, etc.

    Gerard's account is possible, if one of the Q was on the board and not in Gerard's hand. Saying you have a "Queen-high flush" doesn't necessarily mean the Q was in Gerard's hand. E.g., Gerard could have had a 9 and 10 of that suit. Also, the player with two pair presumably had Q6 in his hand, meaning there had to a Q and a 6 on the board, the same Q that made Gerard's flush.

    Mike said he was kicked out of Atlantic City for counting cards, however, New Jersey law prevents casinos from banning players, unless they are caught cheating. Counting cards is not cheating, but simply a strategy that allows a player to legally decrease the house edge, and therefore is not a bannable offense. Even if he was caught counting cards, the casinos would be unable to do anything about it. If he was caught counting card in Vegas, however, they could ban him from the casino completely, as casinos are considered private clubs. However, even in Vegas it is more likely the casino would ban him from playing blackjack, but allow him to play any other game, as there's no way to legally beat the house edge in any other casino game.

    • @waltermallard5565
      @waltermallard5565 2 года назад +1

      @@jaderulz2000 counting is not possible in poker, as counting requires you to see all the cards in play to be effective, and in poker you only see your cards and not those of other players, so you can never get an accurate count, and following each hand in poker, all cards are shuffled into deck, which would essentially return the count to 0 whereas in blackjack, cards are dealt face up, so you can see everyone's entire hand, and cardfrom one hand are discarded once the hand is finished, so the count remains unchanged between hands. Shuffle/Ace tracking is a technique used by some high level card counters, which could potentially gain you a small edge in poker, but shuffle tracking is something completely different than counting.

      @@Bout2BLuckyy gerard doesnt necessarily have a queen, there can be one on the board which completes his queen high flush, player 2 has a queen and a 6, player 3 has 2 queens. All the hands add up, and there are only 4 queens.
