    I'm surprised Harvey didn't punch him. Imagine your mother told you as a child to keep a bad secret from your family, one that could wreck it. Then your brother does the exact same thing with his daughter. Then has the audacity to ask for your help without even being truthful. I would be livid

    • @ethrsag735
      @ethrsag735 Год назад +208

      Or when they were younger, when his brother blamed him for tearing their family apart for not keeping that secret. That was an actual example of victim-blaming since their mom forced him to keep her secrets, was told that if she cheated again that he wouldn't keep the secret anymore, then proceeded to bring the man she was cheating on their father with to their family dinner. Mike's arrival was a gift as he was the brother Harvey deserved.

    So Marcus rudely demands that Harvey should help him like Harvey owes him something, lies that he cheated (which their mother had done and it traumatized Harvey) and it turned out he gambled and made his daughter keep a secret (which their mother had also done and it also traumatized Harvey). The audacity.

      I had read somewhere once that the show was to reflect Wall Street values and methods of business which I think the show does. I just started binge watching the show about a month ago. It's a bit of a bittersweet thing because I think the characters are great but there is so much back stabbing, constant loss/change of leadership, and so forth that I wish it was more of an episode to episode serial and less of a soap opera if that makes sense. I would think if this was a real law firm, it would have sunk under its own discord years ago. And I am a fan of comic books. :)

    In this show there have been a number of high stakes battles, but none of them were as dangerous and fraught as what went on in this conference room. It is in family law that emotions rule the room, and the law goes out the window.
    Don't believe me?? Just look at the recent case in Las Vegas, where a lawyer had a gun and shot and killed three people, including himself, during exactly this type of negotiation.

      You're overlooking a couple things there. 1: Harvey wanted to beat his brother up when he told him he cheated, but chose to help anyway. 2: Marcus lied about cheating to cover up that he was gambling again and 3: He told his daughter to lie for him and keep his secret, which is what Harvey and Marcus' mother did to them when they were kids. So it's a little more layered than you made it out.

    So why is gambling a valid reason to take away his kids? It’s legal. Or am I missing a ponit?

    • @swhite7929
      @swhite7929 3 месяца назад

      I mean, he wanted his daughter to lie for him so he's manipulative with his kids, and a gambling addiction puts his financial security at risk (which is also bad for the children). Plus addiction can often lead to neglect. It's not that gambling in and of itself would be reason enough to take the kids, it's that the whole package cast serious doubts on his competence as a father.
