I just saw a vid using gradually increasing-sized yo-yos. The Suffolk puffs are then put on top of one another with the largest at the base. VOILA, Yule tree! You've probably made these at some time but I'd never seen them before and thought they'd be lovely on my natural tree. The coasters you made are so homey and lovely.
Hello Christine, what a cute and easy to make project! I was looking for something like this for my next door neighbor. She is a big fan of Dallas Cowboys team. I have 2 different pieces of DC fabric that came in a bundle pack from a thrift store and I’ve been saving them just for her. This project is just perfect to fullfill my purpose. Thank you!💙🤍
What a good idea💡. I am thinking of cutting the centre piece smaller (without the folded hem). That will reduce one layer of folded fabric to make stitching easier. The raw edges will be covered anyway.
I love these stars so much!! I had made little 5 sided bowls earlier- so it would be wonderful to make some of these to sit in little bowls as coasters on my coffee table ❤😊
Thank you Christine for your video and for sharing this lovely idea. I was thinking of non Christmas mug rugs and how useful that will be. My old coasters are exactly that and well past their sell by date really. Why buy a whole new set just make some. You have my mind ticking over now.
Such a lovely little project! Thank you for sharing. You might consider for the video to have the second star already folded. And for the stitching we don’t really need to watch/wait through all five sections.
Hi Christine , I've got to say, I've seen these before but they didn't hold a candle to yours. These are absolutely gorgeous! These will make great gifts! ❤ TFS 😊
I love these stars! Big thanks for showing what to do when you get a tangle/knot on the back of your piece. I never knew how to deal with that...but now I do! Many thanks for showing the "fix"! Greetings from Canada where it is not 37 degrees, haha. 😃
Thank you so much - it’s so rewarding to make things and share the journey with lovely people like you. Have a most wonderful week ahead 💙🧵🪡 cheers, Christine
Hi Maryann - thanks 🤗 unfortunately I don’t have a sewing machine so can’t comment on that. But hope you have fun making some of these 🤗 cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
I thought if you put a horizontal stitch on the back at the point of the star you could put a paper clip or other wire on and use it as a decoration and take it out and use as a coaster later. Just came across you today and am glad to hear an Australian accent. Gold Coaster here. Summer hit here a month ago, then we had a few winter days just when everyone had put away their long pjs.🌲
Love that idea Caroline! Thanks so much for sharing and a big welcome to my virtual craft room. The weather really has been rather nutty here. We are experiencing QLD style humidity in a big way still. Cheers, Christine
That’s an interesting project idea. Could you do the same with hexagons? I’m wondering if they could be joined together as a quilting design… 🤔 They turned out really pretty. Christmas definitely crept up on us in a hurry! I feel like I’m playing catch up on it!
The hexagons won’t make a star shake with the folding and while these pentagon stars could be joined for a quilt they would need inserts for the spaces that would be left. But I am thinking of a bowl using the pentagon stars. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Thank you for this video. I’m wondering if you tried simply cutting the inner fabric smaller, to fit the fold over lines of the outside fabric so you don’t have to stitch over so many layers?
Thanks so much and here’s a link to the pentagon template: ruclips.net/user/postUgkx2EuSA1JB92Y-VanX2gWX8z-Qc9aaeO7l?feature=shared. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
@@hannahalexander7005 yes you can make a no sew version using fabric glue or a glue that will stick well to fabric. Aim for something acid free. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
Yes busy doing decorations for the community Christmas tree, sewing and art group have brought a tree (you get half a tree to decorate and people pay a gold coin to enter to see loads of trees the money goes toward a charity this year it’s a community Christmas lunch for anyone in the community loads of elderly go in groups to this) I am in charge of decorating and organising people to make things to go on the tree might have bitten of more than I can chew but having a blast trying. Your lovely star will go into the list of things people can make. Think this would be great with paper also.
What a lovely thing you’re doing Paula - so wonderful! And I agree these would be great done on paper too. And even with fabric you can just use glue. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡
