    Christine, greetings from Southern California, USA. We are in mid-winter here, but no snow on the ground. I live about 60 miles east of Los Angeles. Really loved listening to your commentary as I was fortunate to have a teaching job outside of Melbourne in a small city called Kingsbury. I was there for 18 months in 1975-1977...a long time ago to be sure when we did not have the internet and a lot of the modern technology we have today. Your tree decorations were adorable and really scrap-friendly! Bless you and thank you for sharing. 🙏💖💖

      So lovely to have you here and I hope you enjoy making one of these! And yes, here in Australia we call it plaiting or a plait which is also known as a braid. 😊 cheers, Christine

    • @zillyg21
      @zillyg21 Месяц назад

      FYI in the UK we spell it plait, but the I is silent so it’s pronounced plat.
      plait
      /plat/
      noun
      1.
      a single length of hair, straw, rope, or other material made up of three or more interlaced strands:
      British
      "she wore her dark hair in plaits"
      2.
      archaic term for pleat
      verb
      1.
      form (hair, straw, rope, or other material) into a plait or plaits:
      "her hair had been plaited and coiled at the back of her head"

    This is a really super cute idea. You could make a set for your tree or a gift to someone. I think they would be cute with a little bell at the bottom and perhaps spray your strips with a little starch and press them before u braid them. It would give them a little structure. U could do a candy cane or a snowman. U could make little trees and then sew them together to make a 5 point star and in the center hang a little bell or a tear drop bobble like she had. Lots of possibilities.😉👍

    • @createandcraftwithchristine
      @createandcraftwithchristine  Месяц назад

      Thanks Brenda - for buttons you could just stitch through them like a bead but through both holes so they lay flat between the fabric layers. Alternatively you could stitch them spaced out on a thin piece of fabric that could run up the centre of the tree which you could then stitch the fabric plait onto wending it’s way between the buttons. Have fun creating. Cheers, Christine 💙🧵🪡

    That’s a pretty design, and so effective! The red and green work really well together. Could you plait in stranded beads as well?
    If you bundle up the tails and clip them with your fabric clips, would they get tangled less? I guess moving the clips would be annoying though. Also, if you turned the little silver heart over and then topped it with a tiny pearl, would it look like angel wings?

    Interesting project! It requires lots of dexterity. It's similar to other types of braiding as we call it in the U.S. I think I've seen 3 strips tied to the back of a chair with wood slats in the back. That way they would really be secured and easier to braid.
