  • The chaos of using chicken busses, the local transportation in Guatemala includes a lot of transfers and helpful locals. The busses are old U.S. school busses brought to Guatemala and repainted with bright colors. Mostly they are used by locals but they can offer a nice adventure also for travelers while at the same time also saving some money.
This time I took chicken bus from Lake Atitlán to Antigua. It included four busses from Panajachel to Sololá, Los Encuentros, Chimaltenango and finally to Antigua. After exploration of Antigua, I took one final bus to the town, where my Couchsurfing host lived, Parramos.
