This series is absolutely hilarious! I’m Catholic and super involved in ministry, I am now by your inspiration, going to call the priests I work with “Counts” 🤣 🤣🤣! And believe it or not we do actually refer to the confessionals as “penalty boxes” when no one is in ear shot 😂! If you guys ever make it to Chicago come to St John Cantius to a Solemn High Mass in Latin, this particular church is insanely gorgeous , or just stop on in for a gander if you’re uncomfortable attending a Catholic mass 😊. I mean we’re Chicago so there’s lots of crazy Evangelical/ Protestant/ Baptist/Nondenominational churches here!
@@homethatilove4595 😂 yes I love it! But I have to be honest, I really think Fr Joshua (the superior general for all who are unfamiliar) would love these two as much as I do and so would the Brothers 😁. The priests and brothers at St John Cantius are absolutely wonderful and these two would no doubt be welcomed with open arms! 🤗
W series. Check out a traditional Latin Mass at a Catholic Church. Helps to read a little bit about what's happening beforehand. Just don't go up to recieve communion, as you aren't a member and don't assent to the Church's teachings. Enjoying these. Great job guys!
Haha, Catholic cringing just dying to answer all y’alls questions! 😂 I’m a convert to the Catholic Church, when y’all get to mass, please attend the Tridentine Latin Mass. this is the mass of the ages! So beautiful. Just take it in and do not worry, no one will know you have NO idea what’s going on. 😂 any English mass is essentially a Protestant version of the old rite. 😬
I’m currently converting and will be received this Easter Vigil. I’m only 14 but I do have atheist parents and can say the Latin Mass has helped my faith so much!
Y'all should check out Saint Patrick's in New York, Immaculate Conception Basilica in DC, St. Louis Cathedral, St. John Cantius in Chicago, Basilica of St. Josaphat in Milwaukee. Anytime you see the word Basilica or Cathedral in the title, prepare for quite the building (for better or worse - sometimes they're really gorgeous, sometimes they're just really something, lol)! There are lots of others that are really amazing, but usually Confessions are sometime on a Saturday, often afternoon or evening, sometimes they can be an hour or so before Mass, and Mass goes on often daily, but predominantly Saturday afternoon/evening, and Sunday mornings and sometimes afternoons (times - and durations lol - vary by parish)! Fun fact, the thing you kneel on is just called a kneeler 😂😁 hopefully that will be easy to remember for future reference! Lol
You absolutely need to go to Catholic mass, however, you’ll need to visit a Latin mass as well to get the full ‘experience’. God bless you two and LOVE these hilarious videos! I agree with another commenter that we need the full video at once because of impatience (looks like I need to work more on that virtue!). 😂😂❤❤
I am Catholic and was suffering so bad during the part where you visited the Catholic Church😅 It was fun to watch you guys make jokes while not knowing what you were talking about😊Please, PLEASE when you finally pick a Catholic Church for one of your videos, make it a Traditional Latin Mass!!! It’ll be an experience unlike any other🥲 Thanks so much for this series, it’s an absolute blast to watch!😂
Have you ever tried a Catholic mass? Also there are so many beautiful Catholic Churches in America. If you’re ever back in DC try the basilica at The Catholic University of America. It’s gorgeous
I'm a Catholic and text-in Confession would be SO convenient, but alas, it's against the rules because someone could hack it. Confession is super private, and a priest would rather die than break the seal of Confession. Also, not all Catholic churches have the cool, old fashioned confessionals. My church has little rooms that are pretty cozy. They still have a screen between you and the priest so the confession is anonymous. LOVE this series
I’ve been to both. They may have some overlaps but are definitely two different animals. Confession is a sacrament that absolves sin and keeps the penitent in right relationship with God. A penitent has to be sorry for the sin, be willing to confess his or her sins to the priest who acts in alter christus, and be willing to correct the sin. A good confession can last five minutes or even less. As a sacrament, it’s graces extend beyond the confessional. Granted, some priests may give spiritual direction or even some counseling in addition to hearing the confession, but those “extras” are not necessary for the confession to be valid. Therapists use theoretical modes developed through years of experimentation to treat a client. A session almost always lasts 50 minutes. The wounds a client brings to therapy may involve his or her own sins, but the therapist does not concentrate on the sin.
No way that a therapist can tell you that your sins are forgiven! That’s the best feeling in the whole world! “Whose sins you forgive…they are forgiven…” John 20:23
I’m Catholic and you guys are so funny! You have to go to a mass and I saw comments here from people that will take you, The confessional can be intimidating but very soul cleansing. All the art in a church is Bible based but churches from the 70’s can be more modern. Definitely do a few. Love to see your reactions.
Please go to two Catholic masses. Go to a Novus Ordo mass. It will be in English. Then go to a Traditional Latin Mass, which will be in Latin, but there will likely be English language aids. If you cannot go to both, go to the traditional Latin mass. We will guide you to resources that can help you through both. This is a fun, fun, fun series guys. Stroke of brilliance.
Heyyy!!! Yalll went to my family's church. I never thought i would have gone there, it is an honor as a Honduran and as a christian to have had yall in Ebenezer!!❤❤❤ May God Bless yall and Keep yall safe!
John, you have to do a Catholic mass in the US. But first, you will have to train. Make sure you work on cardio and stretching/flexibility. Because a Catholic mass is almost a contact sport! A lot of kneeling standing, sitting, kneeling, sitting, standing, sign of the cross, standing, kneeling sign of the cross. You could pull a hamstring if you are not ready! LOL!!
I would LOVE to see them visit a Catholic church where there’s still an active monastery/convent. It would be so fun to see their reactions to the monks/nuns doing services throughout the day.
Love these videos! You two are so funny. My favorite part was the man who asked about the millennials. That was crazy funny. 2nd part was Shama sitting in front of the gigantic pillar for the late person. LOL That's the spot for the person who has a tendency to fall asleep in church. Is that a thing in Catholic Church.....? Love you both!
This is so funny. I love how both of them are so nieve about other countries, it’s like watching two small boys explore but they are so sweet with it! Great show😀
Catholic churches = beauty upon beauty... So many are just glorious! I'm glad you visited that beautiful space. I've heard it said that when Catholics look upon a Protestant church/expression of faith, they see a desert... and when Protestants look upon that of Catholics, they see a jungle. You know that you don't need confession box, that why Jésus-Christ is called the HIGH PRIEST of our confession Hebrews 3:1, you can speak to him yourself self you don't need a priest to do that for you.
I grew up in San Pedro. Lived there for 17 years and it looks like not much has changed 😂 The heat and the power lines are crazy. Can’t wait for part 2!
South America is very much like SE Asia. (They have the same outdoor markets, and it's crazy hot there, too!) I lived in Thailand for over four years, and I had the surprising joy of meeting several Thai people, who were also Christians. Being saved myself, I enjoyed talking to them about the Lord. What makes it so surprising is that most of Thailand is Buddhist, and most of the rest of the country is Muslim. Although I didn't get to visit any of the very few Christian churches, I did get to attend a Catholic service that was performed entirely in English! The church was huge and located right in the center of our town.
This was great!! I've been to Honduras a few times, and if you go again try a small rural church. I went to one where they played the same beat of the piano for 30 minutes, and not knowing the language I thought this is the longest song ever. They then switched beats and the pastor came and sat next to me and we sang (clapped along) for another 30 minutes. Finally, one of our missionary pastors spoke. I fell asleep sitting next to the pastor, but I guess it was alright because he fell asleep too !!! I laughed so hard when I saw Shama sitting during the service, dude I felt that.
Im a woman with a strong faith in God! Was brought up in the conservative church, going every Sunday morning and evening planting the butt on the same pew🤪.
