This is the same engine I bought a year ago, I love mine! I just wish I could cut down on the vibration some, because the vibration broke the earlobes off of my flywheel clear cover, it cracked them after a few weeks, then I just bought another clear cover and it's started to crack one of the ears. They just don't hold up, they need to make better clear flywheel covers that are more durable and won't crack as easy!

Im wanting to do this same build but for aggressive trail riding. Question is do you recommend this setup and would you advise on a bigger rear sprocket for the trails. I really dont need to go above 45 mph for top speed. Just need the torque to get up nasty hills. Thanks

  • @scorpioslab

I wish they build a 6 speed Manuel transmission that bolts to the output shaft, and mounting holes. It wouldn't take much to design, and it would definitely sell a lot.

These engines don't come with any sort of protection against horizontal stress on the crank (like a thrust bearing) and thus a gearbox would cause issues. But yes, I agree, having a gearbox would be awesome. Even just a 2 or 3 speed gearbox would be a game changer.

they dont sell it together but you can by a mini bike cable or if lucky a cycle cable and if you dont have soldering tanks and all that shit you can buy a cheap cordless soldering kit.I bought this one and worked for me so you save money i think it was $30 bucks its called Weller Cordless Soldering Iron 4.5 W 1 pk give it 45 sec to heat up and use thin wire mine came with wire.i never soldered before in my life and i learned quick by doing this but make sure you measure that cable and dont make it to short or else you gotta buy a new cable.Funny story ill tell you is i soldered my cable and it worked but the carb inside the cable wasn't lifting up the needle all the way and i found out that it was a screw i tightened that when you hit the throttle it hits the screw so its like a speed screw and the needle didn't go all the way up so i bought another cable and looked and i adjusted and never had to solder lol.

According to GPS the 225 makes over 17HP on their dyno but everyone will have a different power output with the same engine due to the altitude they live at, atmospheric pressure and temperature variations etc. It will never be the same for everyone anyway. what size carb was that? I'm using the GPS 28mm round slide Mikuni clone
