Nothing gives me butterflies more than this drop. The suspense when it slowly pulls you up and the suspense when it holds you for a second or two never gets old.
When you talk about the gut punch feeling on a drop tower, i think of the ridiculous Larson drop towers(ex: Panic Plunge, Silverwood). Those things are the worst, in a good way.
I was wondering what the difference between this ride and drop zone at california great america in san jose california. I went on that it was about 60 mph and 260ish feet high i think.
Ive gone to Magic Mountain countless times and it never occured to me to ride Drop of Doom because its so scary. My palms were sweaty just watching this video. Ill only go if my 10 year old son decides he wants to challenge it, otherwise im a no. Lol, thannks for this review!
I laugh at peoples fear of a wooden roller coasters sWaY. I remark that when you open/close door to your house, the house sways a bit especially when its windy. Steel coasters sway as well. Shockwave SFoTX. has a noticeable sway as the columns like on Mindbender are far apart. Still I GET IT! It's a bit unnerving to feel that sWaY from the energy of another moving ride.
7:33 Yep. Demon Drop at Dorney Park is still the only perfect score :) That's awesome you got footage of Superman and Drop of Doom running at the same time. A rare sight these days. Drop of Doom always keeps me guessing with that late break.
After riding this, Supreme scream as solid as it is feels like Camp Snoopy's junior drop and bounce tower by comparison. I'm more of a wuss when it comes to launching rides so it says something when I would ride this again before setting foot on Superman escape from Krypton.
@@CanobieCoaster At least with SS you Know when the drop is about to hit when you hear the turbines hiss at the top. THIS gives you no warning which makes more terrifying. Knott's rides are a Warm-up to Magic Mountain's rides, they take the blueprints and build upon it. The only ride I legit love and will ride numerous times is Hang time.
I hate drop rides. With that said, my friends forced me onto this ride. And I am so glad they did. The build up while riding up and the guessing of when it will drop made the actual drop so worth it! But I still will never ride it again. Lol!
You know you are 💯 percent correct..Although as of now I haven't been on LLDOD I've been on many drop towers..The new ones like Scream @ SFFT and Superman @ SFOT are high but there not that scary..I rode a 2nd generation drop tower in Dungeon Drop @ SIx Flags Houston and as far that has been the scariest I've been on..I think even the 1st generation drop towers were good..I.e demon drop..those packed a punch..Is this one really that scary?because I've been disappointed in the new ones..They Are high but there to air compressed..meaning not a direct free fall..If yall know of any good ones that leave your stomach in the air please let me know..Because the new ones are no good..
Got a chance to ride this back in 2016 and loved it. But ever since riding Gravity Bomb in Branson, I can't help but imagine how S&S could have given Six Flags the most terrifying, forceful drop tower of all time. 200 feet with just a seat belt was giving me a panic attack...I can't even imagine 400!
Ive Been on both this and zuminjaro at great adventure and this one just felt a lot more open and much more forceful. I’ve only been on it once but still remember it is probably the 5th or 6th best ride in the park
CanobieCoaster i do not find rides to be scary but if i did this would not be the scarist in California It would be X2 that is far more intence this is a good ride though with nice tummy felling
What an absolutely insane experience this must be. I love Intamin Drop Towers. As I do prefer the more intense towers than the bigger ones, these bigger ones are still intense and have that crazy fear factor in their enormous height. I wonder how scary it is as a sway ride when Superman is running. Also, did you notice any negative Gs on this ride where you felt the restraint when falling or was it just strong enough for a 1 - 0 G weightlessness feeling?
Top Thrill 2 has those same restraints and I've heard that skinny people won't vbe able to ride, which Cedar Point cites safety like. unless someone is stapled per the guidelines for that ride post lawsuit, Zamperla is afraid for things beyond loose articles, meaning restraints not in contact with a guest's thighs. I do remember my thighs being in contact on the lap bar of this ride.
Have you been on the drop tower at the top of Stratosphere in Vegas? That one is shorter in ride height, but the height above the ground is something you seldom are able to experience.
I live in Vegas and the Big Shot is one of the best rides out there. not only does the incredible view make it feel much taller, but you get some wicked airtime once you hit the crest. it almost feels like you get pushed back down instead of free falling with how intense it is
@@CanobieCoaster it scared me at first but it just goes up so quick. Drop zone at kings island gives me more trouble becuase it is very slow and the drop is way more powerful. The drop is so chill.
Sorry, I am still disappointed Superman fails to go close to the actual 400 foot mark. I hope in the future, Magic Mountain gets a more modern, and more powerful launch that can help this ride soar to the heighth it was intended to reach. In regards to the drop of Lex Luther, I have yet to go on it, but I imagine the swaying is indeed un-nerving.
On my first ride, I had no idea that the tower swayed like that when Superman was running, then it happened when we were getting close to the top. It freaked me out, and I loved it. I was disappointed to have both rides closed on my last trip.
I consider myself a rollercoaster enthusiast. For some reason, nothing scares me more than a decent drop tower.
Definitely a thrill.
Same
Nothing gives me butterflies more than this drop. The suspense when it slowly pulls you up and the suspense when it holds you for a second or two never gets old.
Same, though I favor Coasters more than drop towers and flat rides
When you talk about the gut punch feeling on a drop tower, i think of the ridiculous Larson drop towers(ex: Panic Plunge, Silverwood). Those things are the worst, in a good way.
Those ones are intense.
Wild how at one point this park had this, and America's only 2 4d coasters, that's how you know your lineup is geared towards thrillseekers
It's a thrill-seeker's paradise.
2:49 guess there is a reason though, Muntanya Russa is getting VR in April.
Nooooooooo!
With those restraints i learned if you cross your arms like water slides you will feel a little bit secured.
I usually go hands off for the descent.
Awesome Review🤩
Thanks!
@@CanobieCoaster No problem
This is my favorite non Larson drop tower. This one freaks me out, especially being held 400 feet in the air. The audio is cool too.
It's so intimidating.
It swayed so much when I dropped on it once and the side to side motion was so intense
Wow!
How many drop towers are at this six flags? Planning on going there and I’m absolutely terrified of drop towers😅
This one has a kiddie drop tower and this one.
@@CanobieCoaster ah, thank you!

It's certainly intimidating.

The sheer length of the drop is insane.

fuck that shit is scary
Most definitely.

In my opinion the small drop towers are scarier than this.

going to Seaworld Orlando tomorow :D
