I diagnose a BMW 116i N43 engine crank, no start, knocking sound, with VANOS and low oil pressure MSD80 INPA codes. Copper bearing material in oil filter, clogged VANOS solenoids. Car has 216.000 km.

Camshaft should be released ouside in and installed inside out.
I don't think it matters but it's logical since you will reduce the eventual lever the valve springs exert on the camshaft when releasing it. It it said that this can "bend" the camshaft but I doubt it.

The camshaft locking tool doesn't fit at the front, just behind the VANOS gears, it has to be at the back? When you were setting TDC, you didn't use the crankshaft locking pin? Thanks.

For replacement of the valve cover with new one, it required to use a sealant?

BMW manual does not specifiy use of any additional sealant. The N43 has a more "forgiving" valve cover design than the N42/N46, so less sharp corners.

If you weren't aware, the audio in your recent videos is a bit broken, it only comes out of the left speaker. Is this something you could easily fix, maybe an issue in an export preset?
Fine on the phone but when watching with headphones it's a bit weird :)
