Imagine, everyone knew Rheanyra was to be named heir to the iron thrown, but in the last few minutes he named someone else? very unlikely. I know Alicent did that only because she really loved him, and maybe cos it boosted her ego a lil bit, and i understood that she only did that cos she thought she was right and because of her love towards Viserys, but still what they did was foolish. If you gonna commit a treason like that of the highest order, better kill the opposite side. Alicent is very optimistic about the outcome lol and Otto was pretty much right, it absoutely will casue an open war, and annihilating the blacks would be the best choice of action for another one to survive. Breaks my heart watching this tbh and knowing what will follow, so sad.
Otto has been planning this ascension since the day Rhaenyra’ s mother died. Rhaenys may not have felt much for Rhaenyra, but Viserys was her favorite cousin. And more importantly, her grandchildren are Daemon’s children. If the Greens go after Rhaenyra and Daemon, they would ultimately go after her grandchildren as well. She wasn’t cold enough to end the Greens with fire, but she will not stand back and allow her granddaughters to be slaughtered.
One of my biggest praises of this show is considering how numerous, deep and varied the characters in Game of Thrones were, not a single character or plotline in this show feels like an imitation of GOT, it remains original and exciting
This show surpassed all of my expectations, it is beyond incredible and the cast are on the next level! Major props to Paddy as King Viserys, he was outstanding!
Same here, i didnt expect to like the show this much, in GOT i never really care about Targaryens and i didnt like Danny very much( starks and lannisters were far more interesting to me). I came for fun and curiosity and got totally hooked 🤣. The wait for 2 years its gonna be 🤦🏼♀️😭.

It was a delight to see how they handled the whole "as told by maesters" thing of the Fire and Blood book. For everyone present at the hall of Borros Baratheon, it would seem like Aemond chased Lucerys down with Vhagar and murdered him in cold blood, so seeing how the Dance began because both riders were inexperienced and unable to control their dragons was a fantastic detail.
I completely agree, my soul took enough of a bashing watching the two babies ripped from the sky, so to think that it was never supposed to be a fatal strike from Aemond softened this (by a miniscule amount though) the tension of that flight was absolutely breath taking, I was frozen anticipating every scene!

For those wondering why Rhaenys didn’t just burn them all right then and there…Rhaenys is a mother who lost both of her kids and she was staring down a mother standing in front of and defending her kids from death. It makes sense that Rhaenys would hesitate and be merciful.
House of the Dragon continues to exceed my expectations. The team - from the costume design, CGI, set work, acting and direction - all deserve the highest of praises. Hopefully, they are well rewarded at the Emmys.

The setting and world GRRM created is top notch. It's like Star Wars, an amazing IP. But even Star Wars managed to generate some stinkers in the hands of poor script writers.
Highlight for me is Ser Walter Westling, Commander of the King's Guard, standing up to Cole and then removing his cape. He saw the treason being committed and wanted no parts of it. Also was good to see Ser Eric's bravery in helping Rhaenys escape. Rhaenys is like one of my favorite characters now. Her entrance of the crowing was epic! Lastly, Alicent stood up to her father to protect Rhaenyra and her children. It is good to see that she still loves her and vise versa.
No one listens to GoT fans, it was just patently obvious that GoT seasons 7 and 8 were complete dog shit. GoT fans/fantasy fans in general are the most pathetic bunch of whinging neckbeards going. The difference is that George R.R. Martin has had a greater hand in HotD.
In the books Aemond was bold, wild, willful, hot-tempered and unforgiving. Also during the guidance of Ser Criston he turned to be a proficient and dangerous swordsman. The show did the character justice. I have only respect and praises for Ewan Mitchell. Apparently we are gonna get 15 minutes for scenery in Storm's End alone. As a book reader who knows how it will all end it's gonna be hard to watch... BUT Lucerys had it coming..his fate was sealed then when he took Aemond's eye on Driftmark. Aemond waited for 6 years to get his revenge. And I it believe too that if Maris didn't taunt him, Aemond would have committed it anyway. I can only imagine the amount of grudge and hatred for his lost eye. And someone dared to to tell him about his balls... That was when the dragon has been unleashed. That was when Aemond 'The Kinslayer' was born
Rhaenys could've burned them all if she wanted to. The gods indeed flipped a coin. But in Aegons case they flipped a coin the moment he wore a conquerors crown. You can see the exact moment when he flipped from not wanting to hunger for power ! Damn I got literal chills
For reals, that last part where she busted out really took me by surprise. I thought it was going to be a crowning then it ends with Rahaenys making her escape out of the city or showing up to Rhanyera but this was crazy. It would’ve been better if she had said she should burn the usurpers and that she recrognizes only Rhaenyra.

House of Dragon has been okay. There have been some really dumb and inconsistent bits here and there, but it's still better than anything post season 4 of GOT.

This was so beautiful - what a beautiful queen Rhaenyra makes. It's what I hoped to see with Daenerys. I actually teared up a few times during this episode. I gasped when it was revealed that Lord Corlys had taken control of the Narrow Sea. What a commanding presence he has! And I loved Daemon singing to the dragon in High Valyrian, it almost reminded me of Italian. So sad about Luke, I don't think Aemond really meant for it to happen. I really had started to like Rhaenyra's two oldest boys.
I did not expect anything from this show, but it's giving EVERYTHING. I think I will watch the livestream next Sunday night from Italy, even if it means watching it at 3 am.

As skeptical as I was coming into House of the Dragon because of how Thrones Seasons 7 and 8 left things, House of the Dragon has impressed me week to week and I'm excited to see how this first season wraps things up.
I mean D&D weren’t showrunning so it was kinda obvious the show was going to be a hit. I was going to watch the show regardless, it’s been game-changing
First off, season 6 was trash! It was the shows sell out season were they abandoned GRRMs style in favor of fan service Disney style and a generic good vs evil typical fantasy feel. Second, HOTD was a safe bet to be great. They have finished source material to follow (GOTs ran out season 4/5) and GRRM is back working closely with the show (he left GOTs after season 5)
they traded writing for like a michael bay marvel movie action blast that looks cool with rhaenys bursting through the floor but when you think about it doesnt make any sense its exactly what happened to the original got they traded writing for spectacle makes me a lil nervous. but i do like the show so far i just want good things for it
you are correct, but overall it doesn't worry me. my theory is that because it was 'Episode 9' which was famous in game of thrones for often being the biggest spectacle episode of the season, they wanted to give this episode some kind of epic moment that would be reminiscent of that. I believe if this episode didn't happen to fall on episode 9, they wouldnt have included it at all. Based on this season, the showrunners are clearly huge fans of the books and have been more faithful to the material than Game of Thrones was even when it had the books to go on, and most importantly, it has an ending, and based on what i've seen so far, these guys are the right people to be handling it. I just hope they dont try too hard to protect Rhaenyra and let her get some blood on her hands, they need to let Blood & Cheese happen just as it happened in the books, as well as her reign in Kings Landing
The dragon Daemon summons is Vermithor, second oldest and second largest of the dragons after Vhagar and previously ridden by Jaeherys, the old king at the very start of episode 1. Excited to see him in action
I loved it till I saw the first crack in the wall and when I mean wall I mean feet and unconditional killing of innocents so no reason, but lets hope that was the end of it.
THIS episode is what anything from GOT should be. Loved it. Everyone thought they had it all sewn up and easy. Then a lady showed up riding a dragon reminding everyone who they were messing with. I think we all saw where Daenerys got her mojo from. Great episode!
Still too early… the show has only begun. We shall see if HOTD can actually follow through the build up and deliver the hype on the Dance of the Dragons. So far they been going off the script (from the original book and we know where that’s headed *cough* S8 *cough* ) BUT so far it has been working very well for them, how long can that last though?

House of the Dragon continues to exceed my expectations. The team - from the costume design, CGI, set work, acting and direction - all deserve the highest of praises. Hopefully, they are well rewarded at the Emmys.

Highlight for me is Ser Walter Westling, Commander of the King's Guard, standing up to Cole and then removing his cape. He saw the treason being committed and wanted no parts of it. Also was good to see Ser Eric's bravery in helping Rhaenys escape. Rhaenys is like one of my favorite characters now. Her entrance of the crowing was epic! Lastly, Alicent stood up to her father to protect Rhaenyra and her children. It is good to see that she still loves her and vise versa.

In the books Aemond was bold, wild, willful, hot-tempered and unforgiving. Also during the guidance of Ser Criston he turned to be a proficient and dangerous swordsman. The show did the character justice. I have only respect and praises for Ewan Mitchell.
Apparently we are gonna get 15 minutes for scenery in Storm's End alone. As a book reader who knows how it will all end it's gonna be hard to watch... BUT Lucerys had it coming..his fate was sealed then when he took Aemond's eye on Driftmark. Aemond waited for 6 years to get his revenge. And I it believe too that if Maris didn't taunt him, Aemond would have committed it anyway. I can only imagine the amount of grudge and hatred for his lost eye. And someone dared to to tell him about his balls... That was when the dragon has been unleashed. That was when Aemond 'The Kinslayer' was born
Rhaenys could've burned them all if she wanted to. The gods indeed flipped a coin. But in Aegons case they flipped a coin the moment he wore a conquerors crown. You can see the exact moment when he flipped from not wanting to hunger for power ! Damn I got literal chills
For reals, that last part where she busted out really took me by surprise. I thought it was going to be a crowning then it ends with Rahaenys making her escape out of the city or showing up to Rhanyera but this was crazy.
It would’ve been better if she had said she should burn the usurpers and that she recrognizes only Rhaenyra.

This was so beautiful - what a beautiful queen Rhaenyra makes. It's what I hoped to see with Daenerys. I actually teared up a few times during this episode. I gasped when it was revealed that Lord Corlys had taken control of the Narrow Sea. What a commanding presence he has! And I loved Daemon singing to the dragon in High Valyrian, it almost reminded me of Italian. So sad about Luke, I don't think Aemond really meant for it to happen. I really had started to like Rhaenyra's two oldest boys.

As skeptical as I was coming into House of the Dragon because of how Thrones Seasons 7 and 8 left things, House of the Dragon has impressed me week to week and I'm excited to see how this first season wraps things up.
I mean D&D weren’t showrunning so it was kinda obvious the show was going to be a hit. I was going to watch the show regardless, it’s been game-changing
First off, season 6 was trash! It was the shows sell out season were they abandoned GRRMs style in favor of fan service Disney style and a generic good vs evil typical fantasy feel.
Second, HOTD was a safe bet to be great. They have finished source material to follow (GOTs ran out season 4/5) and GRRM is back working closely with the show (he left GOTs after season 5)
I do hope HBO never works with D&D again, specially when it comes to anything related to Martin's world.

they traded writing for like a michael bay marvel movie action blast that looks cool with rhaenys bursting through the floor but when you think about it doesnt make any sense its exactly what happened to the original got they traded writing for spectacle makes me a lil nervous. but i do like the show so far i just want good things for it
you are correct, but overall it doesn't worry me. my theory is that because it was 'Episode 9' which was famous in game of thrones for often being the biggest spectacle episode of the season, they wanted to give this episode some kind of epic moment that would be reminiscent of that. I believe if this episode didn't happen to fall on episode 9, they wouldnt have included it at all. Based on this season, the showrunners are clearly huge fans of the books and have been more faithful to the material than Game of Thrones was even when it had the books to go on, and most importantly, it has an ending, and based on what i've seen so far, these guys are the right people to be handling it. I just hope they dont try too hard to protect Rhaenyra and let her get some blood on her hands, they need to let Blood & Cheese happen just as it happened in the books, as well as her reign in Kings Landing
The dragon Daemon summons is Vermithor, second oldest and second largest of the dragons after Vhagar and previously ridden by Jaeherys, the old king at the very start of episode 1. Excited to see him in action
