In addition to the amazing views and scenery, much of the buildings are made out of a red brick (which blends beautifully with many of the nearby trees and rocks). I can't imagine watching football in that environment, I might get distracted by the sheer scenery.

    Um, the Braves moved out of Turner Field because the lease was up, and they couldn't strike a deal to get necessary improvements, hardly questionable. One major thing that plagued Turner Field, as well as its predecessor, Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium, was the lack of transit options; the city had a chance to run a rapid rail line either to the stadium or to run by it, but chose not to (politics, I guess). Plus, it pretty much backed up to a residential section of town, which meant no chance for additional development, something that is not a problem with the new location, the Cumberland Mall area of Cobb County (which has an Atlanta zip code, so technically, the Braves are still in Atlanta). The so-called "under the table" dealings that brought the Brave to Cobb County were no different than what happened to bring the Braves to Atlanta from Milwaukee in the first place; nothing illegal, just pissed off fans and taxpayers (it did get the county commission chairman voted out of office, if it makes people feel any better :-D)

    • @evanw7925
      @evanw7925 3 года назад +2

    • @iplayfhorn
      @iplayfhorn 3 года назад

      @@evanw7925 I didn’t mean to imply that he said illegal, if that’s what you thought. And yeah, there may have been some “secret” meetings, but a lot of deals are made that way. But the Braves weren’t going to renew their lease, not without some improvements to Turner Field, which the city didn’t want to pay for. As for Smyrna getting a MARTA tail line, I’m with you; I’ll believe it when I see it. The only way I see Smyrna getting a rail line is if CobbLinc puts in light rail, and even then, it would just be within the county, it wouldn’t link up with MARTA. That was never really in the plans for MARTA anyway, one of the reasons Cobb voted it down.
