11:35 Learn more about vitamin K2!
Let’s talk about osteoporosis and osteopenia. There is no way you can build up your bone with just calcium. If you try, you could end up with calcification of your arteries.
Osteoporosis is a loss of bone density and bone mass. This increases your risk of fractures. Osteopenia is the stage that occurs just before osteoporosis.
It’s been found that people with osteoporosis have a much higher degree of calcification in the arteries and joints. This means a person has excess calcium, but it’s not going to the right places in the body.
When dealing with osteoporosis and osteopenia, we can’t just look at a loss of calcium. We also need to consider vitamin K2 deficiency and vitamin D3 deficiency.
Vitamin D3 supports calcium absorption, and vitamin K2 helps drive calcium into the bones. If you take vitamin K2 as a supplement, it may be best to take the natural form called MK7. Vitamin A (retinol) is another important vitamin to support healthy bones.
These essential vitamins for osteoporosis are all fat-soluble, which means supporting your gallbladder and liver is crucial. Bile salts can help support the absorption of fat-soluble nutrients if you have a gallbladder or liver problem. It’s also essential to have strong acid in the stomach to absorb minerals and trace minerals.
I would still take some form of calcium if I had osteoporosis. But I would also take these other nutrients. I would also avoid calcium carbonate, which is less bioavailable than other forms. Try to get your calcium and other nutrients from food.
Other important minerals and trace minerals for strong bones:
    • Magnesium
    • Potassium
    • Zinc
    • Copper
    • Boron
Be sure you’re also consuming high-quality sources of protein and are exercising consistently to help with osteoporosis and osteopenia.

I was diagnosed with osteo 22 years ago at age 60. I am not sure they were truthful. I am 82 now and no bone problems. I just keep active and eat like a country girl: Very little packaged lab-made/factory-food for me! Cretainly no sweets or grain-based foods, no seed oils! Just coconut oil, olive, avocado oil, lard, butter and home-made ghee! Sardines, macarel, catfish, shellfish, chicken, venison, pork, goat, and lean beef. I make my own herbal mixes, smoothies, v8, bone broth, ghee and sourkrout....Two hours in the kitchen every day!
Make time for reading Scriptures, prayers, walking, and preparing meals every day. Skip television and cut short your freaky social media. Then you'll be good to go and grow old with a smile on your funky face!
Otherwise do as you like and drag around on a walker with an oxygen tank up yer nose and meds by the millions, adult diapers, depression, boredom, bellyfat, swollen ankles, aches and pains till you wish for death.

I remember in an archeology class how they identified the different type of soldiers at battle sites by their bones. Archers forearms, one was larger than the other forearm. Foot soldiers entire arms were bigger bones than the other because of wielding swords depending on being left or right handed. Bones get calcium based on need, which is determined by stress. 😊

I also had osteopenia since 3 years. I had pain in several parts of my body. I couldn't even think of walking. Even if I walk 500 meters, I used to have severe pain in my feet area continuously for 3 to 4 days.
Last year, I approached the Orthopaedic (MS). He suggested me X-ray, Vitamin D3 and some other blood tests. X-ray Report and Vitamin D3 test revealed that my bone had become weak and I was also deficient in Vitamin D3.
Doctor suggested Calcium, Vitamin D3 & B Complex Capsules and other several medicines. I also took Vitamin K2 MK7 from my side. There was some relief but not completely. When I used to get up from the bed with the help of my hand, I used to have pain due to my weak bones.
It's been 6 months since I started taking the medicine prescribed by the doctor. The speed with which I got relief in the beginning has now slowed down. The pain in my feet area was not going away completely even with the medicine. Then doctor did BMD of my feet area. Osteopenia was detected in BMD test. The doctor used to give medicine for two months every time and used to say that if the condition improves, then stop the medicine and don't come. But my condition was same as before, the pain in feet area was not ending.
I did online research and after a few months I came to know about 'Calcarea Phos' Homeopathy Medicine. After taking Calcaria Phos in 6x potency (Calcarea Phos 6X) along with Calcium Citrate 250 mg and Vitamin D3, my bone became stronger within two months and the pain in my feet which was there since 3 years also got completely cured.
In my experience, 'Calcarea Phos' and 'Calcrea Carb' are much more powerful than Vitamin K2 MK7, which strengthens bone amazingly, that too in just a few months.
If you are thinking of taking Calcarea Phos or Calcarea Carb after reading this post, then definitely consult your homeopathy doctor. There is no side effect of this medicine.
If you find it useful, share your experience with others so that they too can benefit.

But now I don't know what to do because I was supposed to have it again this past July 3rd and couldn't because he stopped taking my insurance 😔😢. I was severely low on Copper he told me so I'm going to get some of that and increase my D3 and get some boron to hopefully help.

    Sharing Dr Berg notes here:
    Thank you Dr Berg! 🐱👍🏿

I remember asking my dentist if I should take calcium for my teeth and he told me “calcium has nothing to do with your teeth” I thought it was strange, but now I get it…..
He did recommend, however I take vitamin C. He said this is the vitamin which supports your teeth best.

I take an Aromatase Inhibitor after I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. My oncologist’s nurse and the oncology pharmacist both told me I should be taking a calcium supplement, specifically calcium carbonate, since the AI can increase the risk of osteoporosis. I knew from watching Dr. Berg’s videos that this was not the best option so I asked my family doctor his thoughts. He said, “Don’t take calcium supplements, they clog your arteries and can increase your risk of kidney stones.” Glad I have a smart doctor, along with Dr. Berg of course.😊
Edit for update: I’ve been weightlifting 3 days a week in the gym and just had another Dexa Scan to compare from 2 years ago . The Lupron shots I receive monthly have decreased my bone density in my spine by 18% and I now have osteoporosis in my hip. Of course I got a phone call for me to take bisphosphonates and I said no thank you. I’ll quit taking the shots and have my ovaries removed instead. In addition, I’ll up my vitamin D and K2.

dr Berg, I really hope you (or some people in the comments) will answer my next question: how do I know I have a good balance between salt and water (hydration)? like I'm just confused, because on a keto diet I loose a lot of water and electrolytes (salt), but on the other hand you talk about the dangers of overhydration. What about kidneys? You recommend drinking at least 2.5 liters of water for preventing kidney stones, but how about salt in that case, I think I'll be loosing large amounts of sodium (but on the other hand they say salt is bad for kidney stones and should be avoided). I'm VERY VERY CONFUSED, so please adress this on a next video if you can't give me an answer, doctor, I don't really know what to do. I worry I might have kidney stones (because I ate 50g of almonds and 100g of chia seeds daily for the last month, gladly I also drank a lemn with water per day), but now I don't know how much salt should I have if I'm gonna have 2.5 L of water. Sorry for this long comment but please give me an answer, doctor Berg, it will help me a lot and I will know just what to do.

Normal kidneys have enough potential to regulate water and electrolytes to maintain a healthy balance.Depending upon activity 2 - 4 litres of water may be taken.Only kidneys with impaired function need water restrictions.During initial days of Keto Diet intake of water and electrolytes need to be increased due to increased loss. Why do you worry about kidney stones? Multiple factors are associated with formation of kidney stones only dietary factors are not responsible. To overcome anxiety you may check urine for any crystal or undergo USG of KUB region.Blessed be.

Just got my first bone scan at 65 and it was not good. I was surprised because I have always been active outdoors and eaten “whole foods”. Three years ago I learned about the Keto and Carnivore diets which I started right away. I cringe now when I think about the high carb low fat diet I use to eat. So I am somewhat relieved to hear Dr. Berg say that it can take up to 6 years to reverse bone density. Three more to go! I’m going to bump up my impact exercises and take the mineral supplements he suggests here instead of the medications my doctor is recommending. Looking forward to my next bone scan!
