@DiamondsRexpensive yes. Most models make their money off company endorsements, many models get paid roughly a few hundred dollars for being on very prestigious magazine covers. Many models get yelled at for doing very basic things in outfits, like sweating and drinking water. The modeling industry is pretty much crap.

Let alone flit and flounce about! I have a big hug for that girl. Thank you for bringing awareness for her and many others who may have dealt with the same thing. Models are performers, not mannequins.
Models should represent the brand there being paid by , not themselves . This is why , having a perfect identity fit between designer and models are key . They then won't embarrass you and vis versa . Lastly if they are entertainers then that should be the name of their job description . You model a room or a space , then you can perform by entertaining in that space .
You know, as well, that if the poor model had said one word of complaint in earshot of the wrong people there’s a chance that it would negatively impact her career (or potentially end it, dead in the water!) For an industry that literally relies on models, fashion can be so brutal 😞
🤔 If only the models weren’t so weak, hungry and tired … they might organize and form a Fashion Model Union 🙌 I’d think that they would already fall under IATSE (?) International Association of Theater and Screen Actors Guild but maybe not?
im not sure its the same model, but i saw another video where she reached the end of the runway, very much after the catwalk but before getting out of sight of viewers, anf she dropped the coat on the floor and stood there catching her breath. two backstage employees ran in to pick it up and struggled to pull it off sight (TWO of them struggled. dragging it). so im really hoping she wasnt fired or punished for it.

Feels like there should be built in accommodations like hidden wheels, supports, ultralight fabrics, etc. for these super avant-garde artistic pieces. The trick should be about making the model look comfortable and effortless to show off the designer's engineering skills as well as artistry. In this example, putting her in a wire cage support on wheels (headdress and heavy parts held up and supported by the cage) and towing her down the runway could be cool. While this is a feat of artistry, this designer is hopefully struck from everyone's met gala designer list, cause if they can't make something artistic that's wearable, no one should bother with them.
This^^ most of these pieces aren’t for everyday actual wearing but if you cannot design something a person can even walking the runway in, how can it be a garment at all… designers need to be able to construct and engineer these pieces so they look flawless on the run way, not a disaster
I don’t know what is most ridiculous, the video itself, the issue being addressed, the comments or that a comment like yours doesn’t have the most likes although it really should.
These models are typically paid 50-200 dollars a runway. I'm curious as to what position you are talking about. Unless they're famous, its a very difficult job to keep as a career. Why ignore issues in one area just because there are issues in another?
@@-lixiepixie- it's not about ignoring problems in one industry, but rather about making up problems that don't exist. First, your numbers are way off. Experienced models, which would describe every model at a "prestigious" show, makes between $300 and $2000 per show, and this doesn't include super models who make from $5k to $20k. Even hand and foot models make more than you claimed. Second, this woman is conflating pain with discomfort. This woman is not in pain, she was uncomfortable for the 3-5 minutes she was on stage. Every single labourer knows what it's like to be uncomfortable, but most of them experience it for a full day every day while making low wages. How do you think the average cashier feels standing in one spot all day, or a roofer carrying bundles of shingles, or a warehouse worker carrying boxes all day on a tight schedule, or a farmhand throwing hay? It is tiring hearing that a poor woman on a runway is struggling to walk for three minutes. And this idiot RUclipsr thinks the model was wearing 200 lbs. She needs to walk around with a 50 lb military pack for a while so she understands real work. She's crying about a little sweat, try being a structural steel worker or road worker for a day in the summer heat. All this to say, my issue is with whiners who don't understand what real work is. There was no labour issue here.
They think about what will stand out and go viral instead of their models and workers health which is very selfish of them as they are people who run the fashion industry
thats so maddening to see. the designers are more worried about the garment rather than the actual person that has to wear it. shame on the person who did that.
Really? I get the sentiment but why would they care about a paid model who could say no Vs their own designs? The designs are their babies not the models
Models: have to be as thin and ethereal as possible. Also models: are required to carry the equivalent of several barbells on her person and make it look graceful
Wow, in the second part of this video Haley talks about how it took TWO assistants to drag this thing off stage after the model (rightfully so) removed the feather cape for her sanity and safety 😤 It’s ridiculous and impractical, why did they design something that is hurting the model? It must weigh so much! Thank you for bringing awareness to this, Haley! ❤️
Not just that they didnt lift the cape between two people, they dragged because it was to much for them but they expected the model to walk in heels carrying that by herself.
thank you! omg. I've been saying this for years. The fashion industry is getting weirder and weirder. they'd make these models skinny, only to make them walk the runway wearing clothes 3x their size and weight. wtf

The fashion industry is very unrealistic and the pain that these models go through just shows that people in this industry doesn’t see them as humans but play dolls
That's pretty much what they are. And fashion hurts. No pain, no gain. People would never boycott fashion because of the way they treat their models though. When the way you look is everything and you look fabulous, does anyone else REELEEEY matter? No. It's a shallow, vapid, industry.
This is why I stopped modeling. The number of times a designer would force you to wear shoes too small or too big, yell at you for not being comfortable with showing too much skin the snide remarks, etc. It's not for the weak will
It’s a shame how terrible models are treated. They already have to keep up a “perfect” (particularly skinny most of the time) appearance, and now this?
The first time I heard of this, it was to a clip of the model taking of the cape at the end of the runway, an assistant being unable to carry it away on their own, and TWO assistants struggling to take it away.
such a disappointment, the fashion industry really should change this. many models have to go through this, but still endure the pain and walk with a straight face

Fashion ain't bout fashion anymore they just want to be unique and would make anything like absolutely anything without thinking bout the model who'll be wearing it
For real. A highly demanding job that affords a level of advantages other people couldn’t dream of in their highly demanding jobs… I do think it’s ridiculous to put her through that, but not some great injustice. Are they really so surprised that this industry, notorious for it’s largely negative impact on society, might not care about the model?
I absolutely hate how the fashion industry treats models, they deserve so much better. Thanks Haley for bringing this to people's attention, we need to stand up for models.
Thank you for bringing this up. This raises awareness and I do hope designers would take note that while creativity is fine and all but they do need to realize that it’ll all be useless if nobody would wear them because it’s too uncomfortable. 😭
✊️✊🏻✊🏼✊🏽✊🏾✊🏿Business and Creative Pursuit are cool...even necessary but LIVING BEINGS Come First! Kudos to the model for taking that assignment on and giving her all.
I hear you. It’s a shame this model was asked to wear this on the runway. And at the same time if someone at my job placed 200lbs of something on my back to carry around I would simply refuse to do so. Just because it’s your job it doesn’t mean you have to say “ok” to the request even if that means quitting or getting fired.
I think if a model falls or gets hurt during the show or prep for the show, because of the outfit the designer made I think the designer should be held liable. It's the designers fault. If they want crazy shoes they should have to wear them.
The struggles and lack of compassion that people impose on others, for money, fame, or entertainment is so disgusting and the fact that this room of people are breaking “character” in a way, because you aren’t supposed to really acknowledge a lot of what goes on, while on the runway… they are even cheering her on, and the designers don’t get the point? That’s a human, not a walking clothing hanger. Thanks for shedding light on this !
And the sad fact is that the model will most likely take the blame for it and not the designer for this horrendous look. And to top it off it might even get her to lose her job. Designers really need to start thinking about the fact that ppl will end up wearing this and walk in them and that its not just something thats to be looked at like its a museum piece
The fucked up thing is that had she fallen, it could have crushed her career. She would have been humiliated, not the designer who stuffed her in that torture chamber.
This feels like an issue I'd learn about from fashion shows from hundreds of years ago. The pieces being torture, the shoes never working for them. But no, this is just modern fashion.
Yes girl! Call out these designers. It sets such a weird and unrealistic standard of what fashion is. Like am I supposed to start seeing this style while walking downtown?

So sad, glad you got out! Saw a videotape of a show where most of the models were very thin but had to wear oversized really high heels. Several began tripping and falling and one fell down some steps. It was awful! 😮
The icing on the cake is that they don’t get paid well for these events either 😬
Are you serious????
@DiamondsRexpensive
yes. Most models make their money off company endorsements, many models get paid roughly a few hundred dollars for being on very prestigious magazine covers. Most runway models don't get paid well for runways either, and the shoes often don't fit, which goes as well as you'd think it does. Many models get yelled at for doing very basic things in outfits, like sweating and drinking water. The modeling industry is pretty much crap.
@@avilove8602sounds like a pretty stupid job to willingly have then

this really shows how great of a person haley is. she’s a person in the fashion industry, and after making this video some designers might not invite her back, but she still makes it. thank you for addressing this and letting more people know. we ❤ you haley!
A queen that will aupport all other queens ❤️
She understand pain like a normal human, i always love to watch her videos❤️
Fr she is funny yet pointing such serious problems without fear! She's a queen! 😭✨
Bare minimum.
I make costumes for live acrobatic performers and as a designer your human should ALWAYS be first. How the heck are they going to sell a fabulous look if they can’t even stand under that weight?? Let alone flit and flounce about! I have a big hug for that girl. Thank you for bringing awareness for her and many others who may have dealt with the same thing. Models are performers, not mannequins.
Models should represent the brand there being paid by , not themselves . This is why , having a perfect identity fit between designer and models are key . They then won't embarrass you and vis versa . Lastly if they are entertainers then that should be the name of their job description . You model a room or a space , then you can perform by entertaining in that space .
But how much I love people for cheering her on. That is so beautiful.
You know, as well, that if the poor model had said one word of complaint in earshot of the wrong people there’s a chance that it would negatively impact her career (or potentially end it, dead in the water!)
For an industry that literally relies on models, fashion can be so brutal 😞
Fuck, even if she had fallen and got hurt.
Unfortunately, too many industries operate this way to some degree. Profits > people just trying to afford rent.
Apparently there's still enough of aspiring models waiting in line that the industry can afford it
🤔 If only the models weren’t so weak, hungry and tired … they might organize and form a Fashion Model Union 🙌
I’d think that they would already fall under IATSE (?) International Association of Theater and Screen Actors Guild but maybe not?
im not sure its the same model, but i saw another video where she reached the end of the runway, very much after the catwalk but before getting out of sight of viewers, anf she dropped the coat on the floor and stood there catching her breath. two backstage employees ran in to pick it up and struggled to pull it off sight (TWO of them struggled. dragging it). so im really hoping she wasnt fired or punished for it.
Good on you more people need to talk out about such things
Can we just appreciate her care for these models and just her general attitude towards this matter most people like it overlook things and say it’s not a big topic or a big deal but she stepped up and said something is props to her
The designers should have hired fire fighters, strength athletes, or a group of helpers for the models to walk the runway.
now that’s a show I’d pay to see
Or use them as the models since they are stronger and trained how to carry that weight safely! I agree!!
@@IrishHndGrenade Pretty sure a firefighter has a more meaningfull things to do, like serving their community by saving people and putting out fires among others.
@@boozelala pretty sure they have time off since most work about 15 days out of the month (24hr shifts)…..I’m a former firefighter/emt.

I think he has better things to do, just like most people. I'd rather volunteer at an elderly home and help these people instead of wasting time is a absurd industry.
The tiktok influencer expert guy said it best, we're not here for kindness, we want to see tears, pain and struggles because that's a sexier story.
Let's all remember that there are people who are paid far less to do far more while risking life and limb.

The fashion industry is very unrealistic and the pain that these models go through just shows that people in this industry doesn’t see them as humans but play dolls
So true!! hope shes doing okay. Thank you for speaking up!! ❤
Yes, really true
The dress reminds me of that one scene in midsommar
Models are treated like props, not people
That's pretty much what they are. And fashion hurts. No pain, no gain. People would never boycott fashion because of the way they treat their models though. When the way you look is everything and you look fabulous, does anyone else REELEEEY matter? No. It's a shallow, vapid, industry.
@@anniegoulaheee8025 Amen to that.

No shit thats why they are called models! If you dont like dont participate in the dumbest industry in human society
@@itsmederek1 no mention of the sweatshop kids that make the clothes. But ya. The poor models.
The hardest part isn't the weight. It's the skin. We all struggle with not having shitty skin
The first time I heard of this, it was to a clip of the model taking of the cape at the end of the runway, an assistant being unable to carry it away on their own, and TWO assistants struggling to take it away.
This is my day at work every day

Straight women then should only then only design women's clothing and accessories and therefore women should only by women's clothing by female designers . The blame resides on the consumer who consumes that which is unhealthy , like ones diet .

For real. A highly demanding job that affords a level of advantages other people couldn’t dream of in their highly demanding jobs… I do think it’s ridiculous to put her through that, but not some great injustice. Are they really so surprised that this industry, notorious for it’s largely negative impact on society, might not care about the model?
I can watch her talk about anything all day. Wow she’s gorgeous! 😍
I absolutely hate how the fashion industry treats models, they deserve so much better.
Thanks Haley for bringing this to people's attention, we need to stand up for models.
She took the “carrying the fashion industry on my back” too seriously 💀
Thank you for shedding light on how they really treat us models. you are gorgeous btw! I’ve been trying to find a top like that for ages
I saw this before your RUclips; it was making me anxious watching her struggle.
Thank you for bringing this up. This raises awareness and I do hope designers would take note that while creativity is fine and all but they do need to realize that it’ll all be useless if nobody would wear them because it’s too uncomfortable. 😭
William approves this message
Whos the designer?
Thank you so much for speaking out
No, but you’re so right… I really hope there will be a change in the fashion industry soon enough…
