- Regenerative nanomedicine is being used to develop new therapies for devastating conditions such as severe spinal cord injuries. Northwestern's Dr. Samuel Stupp is a pioneer in the field of regenerative nanomedicine and recently published a paper in the journal Science that details how a new injectable therapy uses synthetic nanofibers to reverse severe spinal cord injuries in animals and how this therapy could soon be used in humans.

This is amazing! My 22 yr old son suffered a C4/ C5 spinal cord injury July 4th this year. He is a U.S marine and is currently in rehab, I'm hoping this can help many suffering with SCI. Thank you for this scientific finding, you are bringing hope to so many people 🙏

So sorry to hear about your son Barb! I know that injuries like this are almost as devastating to the close family members as they are to the victims themselves. I've been this way for 21 years due to a motorcycle accident in 2001. I'm more excited for the young people that are suffering from these injuries than myself because I've lived this way for a long time and would love to see them escape this condition. I'm hoping that this research will be the breakthrough that mankind has been waiting for. You and your son are in my prayers Barb! ❤🙏❤

i am 22 yrs old and suffered a C5 spinal cord injury in april of 2020, i just had surgery for the vegas nerve study.. this also sounds amazing and i hope to be apart of this therapy!!! myself and all of my SCI friends from rehab will be so very blessed if this works.
I would love to be part of the trial,I was involved in a motorcycle accident conducting a funeral escort on September 19, 2020 & classified as a complete paraplegic. I would love to get back leg movement and bowel & bladder function.

I beg you, please allow me to be your first human test subject! C4, C5, T1, T2 and L2, L3 and L4 damage in the nerve tissues. Bones now have receded to degenerative bone disease onset from the fractures in those vertebrae.

Fantastic research from a bio-medical perspective. This would work better if they would collaborate with parallel research with various glia cell work being done across the globe. But collaboration is very rare due to funding restrictions.

God bless Dr. Samuel Stupp for this outstanding research. My wife lost movement of both legs and sensation as well after a spinal cord tumor resection this year five months ago, and this is not only very very depressing for us but also very very difficult to care. Let's hope this will be a miracle for many people like us in this planet.

This is exactly the type of treatment I’ve been hoping for! Far too many treatments focus on wanting paralyzed people to “walk” again but I want to be able to “feel” again and this sounds like an approach that will allow for some form of sensation to return! I’d love to know how to be on a clinical trial waiting list.

How do I get info. on clinical trials for humans? I have SCI in my neck that has left me with inability to balance in a standing position or walk without a walker and some loss of sensation in my extremities, upper and lower.The docs said my spinal cord was pinched to about the thickness of less then 1/4 the it's size and I had a vertabrae removed to stop any further damage. My surgery was done in 2016. I also had lower back surgery back in 2003 (I think) and had my L4 & L5 fused. I have braces in my neck and my lower back. I am 68 yrs. old. Would this help?
