    love your videos. Do you have a tutorial on the XT1 as I can't afford to upgrade yet as prefer to get the 18-135 for travel and keep the XT1 for a bit longer. Just need a tutorial to get the best from it. Many thanks

    HI! i know this this is an older video, but should I upgrade my Xt1 to the xt2 if im just using it for as a travel camera?

  • @MarkRosengarten

    How I love my X-T2. I named it "Nayana". As amazing as the X-T1 was, I am not at all unhappy that I sold my Canon 5DIII in anticipation of the X-T2. What a great camera.

    • @kathodosdotcom
      @kathodosdotcom  7 лет назад

      you named it already !!! ROFL

    • @MarkRosengarten
      @MarkRosengarten 7 лет назад +1

      I name my gear pretty early on...first it was my telescopes and now it's my cameras. My 5DIII was "Big Dog" and the X-T1 "Little Dog" "Nayana" is an Indian name that means "eye". Thought it was pretty and appropriate. BTW, your videos helped me in this decision, especially when it came to buying spare batteries instead of using the ones from the X-T2, so thank you!

    Xt2 is the one to go for if you are mostly interested in video work, the extra mp on the xt2 even though it's a slightly better sensor isn't really a deal breaker, the better video is, but only if you plan on using it mostly for video work, xt1 with it's 16mp on the same size sensor is best for me, it's like the xt2 had to have a faster processor to process larger files to it could shoot as fast as the xt1.
    Like a car, newer model is made bigger so has to have a bigger engine to carry the extra weight, and further refinements need to be made so it's fuel consumption isn't less but at least equal to the previous model, add in a couple of extra bits and pieces to entice the buyer to upgrade.
    Some will simply because they can show off to people that they have the latest model.
    Fuji may have justified an upgrade, canon and Nikons upgrade each model with hardly any differences between them.

    Love the information but im not sure what you are using to record because a lot of it is hard to see because it is out of focus so often.

    I was doing a shoot today and someone asked me about mirrorless. I don't shoot mirrorless, but they want to buy a nice camera and stop using their phone for everything. Budget 500-1000, would you recommend a good used Fuji XT-1 as a stater camera? I see they sale for around $500.

    Sir, sorry to leave comment here, now I am thinking about X-t2 vs X-t20.
    I do not shoot sports, but I shoot for landscape and portraits during travelling.
    some people on the internet told me to buy X-t2 as it is MIJ, bigger EVF, better control, nice grip, and the price diff now is ard 500 USD. I do admit that the grip on X-t20 is not as good as x-t2. I can buy a metal grip to solve this problem. then the price difference will be reduced to ard 430 USD. And I think backwards, originally I just want a mirrorless camera which can do what I want. Now, it seems I fall into the traps of the Businessmen.
    Whats your opinion on my situation? Should I buy a X-t20 to fulfil my purpose and save the 430 USD for lens ? thanks

  • @ebones7125
    @ebones7125 7 лет назад +2

    I just got an x-t20 and saw the x-t1 new with 35mm f2 for $799 and couldn't resist. I've heard a lot about people talking about liking the older T1 sensor better for skin tones and color in general as opposed to the new sensor, do you have a video about the output of the new sensor vs old sensor? I have not seen one yet. Do you think there is a difference and for such a cheap price is it worth it keeping a T1 around for the old sensor for some things (like people) At these prices you can get an X-t1, and x-t20 and 35mmf2 for the same price as x-t2 body only. Thanks...and sorry about the 850 :\

    By the way, I found a software bug.
    Mine (EU model FW 1.00) has what seems to be a memory leak in the graphical interface, even in boost mode.
    For example, when I bring the super imposed film simulation menu over the live image in either EVF or LCD, the image starts to lag and slows down progressively to what I would use your term 'no bueno'.
    The same happens when activating digital split image and electronic level. Slightly different, but also when shooting video at any resolution and frame-rate.
    I will test this more extensively tomorrow and maybe do a video showing it on Thursday.

    • @kathodosdotcom
      @kathodosdotcom  7 лет назад +1

      split image and leveling, id never use and havent yet…..ill have to test same.
      film simulation menu over the image image……..yes, im sure it would lag, but thats not a bug and is to be expected

    • @chopperfelden315
      @chopperfelden315 7 лет назад

      Well, for me it lags really bad. The X-T1 doesn't (or wasn't noticeable).
      It is progressive. Sometimes when half-pressing the shutter release it will go away and come back slowly (in the split image mode).
      For the movie mode it has been a gamble. Sometimes it's perfectly fine and others it's unusable.

    Having a hard time deciding on purchasing either a used X-T1 vs splurging for a new X-T2. I don't shoot sports, it will be my camera for travel, also my first Fuji camera. Comparing prices, there is roughly a $1000 price difference between the two. Is the X-T2 worth the price difference?

      XT1 is more than enough for same, save money for lenses
      ultimately weigh the choices, the XT2 is just a speed demon for action and a few other additions

      Thanks probably going to end up going this route and get 2-3 lenses on top of the kit lens.

    Can you post a video detailing how to set the XT2 up for back button focusing? (which should also disable the shutter focus). It is possible with the XT1 if you set the camera to manual focus but it does not work with continuous focus modes etc.

    • @kathodosdotcom
      @kathodosdotcom  7 лет назад +1

      go to AF off under button setup menu,
      turn any function button then into the AF ON button

    • @gcspoon42069xx
      @gcspoon42069xx 7 лет назад

      Will that also disable the AF with shutter, or can you do that with another menu setting? And can you use all the focus modes as normal with AF On set to a function button?

    Played about with a FUJI XT-10 today in a photography shop. My 1st time trying out a mirrorless camera, however I was not too impressed in comparison to a DSLR. I can't exchange the speed of shooting my DSLR for one to be honest.

      the XT2 is faster than the fastest DSLR however…….but thats a LOT more $$$$ $1600

    recessed buttons?? I love how fuji pays attention to shit like digitalrev says. I have an xt-1... have never noticed any problems with the buttons. I have a big ass thumb and have no problem pushing the buttons with my thumb. Shit like that is just making the cameras slightly more expensive cause they have to have a team re-design that shit and manufacture more parts.

      It might just take some getting used to. After using FF nikon I tried a sony a6000... After half a year I still couldn't make sense of it. I then bought an xt1 and honestly, after half an hour it felt like I had been using it for years. It just feels like an extension of my body.
