    I have used nearly all of Fujis cameras and owned the x-t1,2,3,4. I recently went through all my pictures on iCloud and found that all the majority of the best ones I pulled out to put in a ‘Must save’ folder were from The x-t1. Two other reasons are I had Xt1,2,3, for testing and comparison. The sharpest was the 2 the best dynamic range was the 3 and the finest images overall were from the 1. Yes it doesn’t have the ability to crop like the other two but if you concentrate on getting that done before you lazily snap away then it is not an issue. Glass is the most important factor in getting great images. Lastly I had the x-t4 which in comparison was lifeless in its colour saturation and I hated the flip out screen and extra weight. BUT.. when using the 75-300 on the x-T3 and 4 they rarely nailed focus perfectly. My X-T1 nails it every time probably because the processor is not fiddling with the image like the higher res modern bodies. I have sold all my x-t3 and 4 kit and bought two X-T1 bodies and the lighter load on my ailing body is much appreciated and I always loved the feel of the Xt1 compared to the others. Just my experience of eight years of buying selling and testing Fuji and Nikon cameras

    A quick tip regarding the ISO dial also moving the switch below on the X-T1: clean out that space between with some dental floss - very gently!
    I did this and now the 2 dials easily move independently of each other.

      @jamesconraadtucker Год назад

      Wow, I thought it was only my X-T1 that had the ISO that sometimes moved the settings below. Glad you mentioned it and I'll try the dental floss. I usually just pull it up slightly and that frees it. I'm keeping my X-T1 and am purchasing some new lenses instead of chasing bodies and megapixels. There's no substitute for quality class. ; )

    I love shooting stills with Fuji. I Recently bought the x-t4 and planned on retiring my x-t1 and though the x-t4 is an amazing camera, it was lacking so much character you get from the sensor in the t1. So I’ve returned the t4 and used the money to buy more lenses. Haha! I’ll always have the t1. It’s so special. Arguably the greatest street photography camera.

    X-T1 has something magical about it. I miss mine, and would get another one but the autofocus and vertical tilting screen on the X-T3 has been a wonderful upgrade for my style of shooting.
    For landscape though, the X-T1 is a wonderful camera.

    Morning Matt. Until fairly recently I didn't print my images as I only take photos for my own pleasure as an amateur. Like you I started with an XT1 and loved its feel, its ease of use and the results. I moved up to an XT2 a few years ago and love it even more! I can only afford second hand and there is always something more important to take my money so my lenses and accessories are vitals only. I am always amazed at the results I get with my images as most of the time I get results by accident! But that is the sheer joy of Fuji - ease of use and the joy of use. I haven't done any comparisons as I don't need to. I know that Fuji is imo the best. I'd love more equipment but it certainly doesn't hold me back. Much love from Scotland

    The only extra feature I can think of in the X-T3 that is useful for landscape photography is focus bracketing. Makes it much easier in conjunction with editing software to focus stack to get sharp images from the very front to the back. Yes, you can do it manually on a firm tripod but having that feature looks very useful. I say "looks" because I don't have an X-T3, still love my X-T1 (and my X-T20)!

    I also have both the X-T1 and X-T3 - I find myself grabbing the X-T1 more often than not if I am shooting just for fun. The X-Trans II sensor just have a look that I really like. I may sell my X-T3 in the future, but I will never let go of the X-T1 😀

    The X-Trans II sensor is pure magic. I have an XE-2s, which has the same sensor as the XT-1 and I love it. The XT-3 has some great features, but for stills and landscape, you can’t beat the older Fuji cameras.

    For fun photography, I grab my 12 MP Sony A7Siii. It is also my backup to the A1. The 12MP camera does force me to work harder to get the shot which I like the challenge. When I go back and look at my images taken with the X-T1 - I'm stunned with the quality and just further justifies that maybe I don't need all those megapixels.

  • @SF-MCMLXVII

    Hi Matt, agree with you depending on what you are shooting and needs, for most photography situations the X-T1 is a perfectly capable camera and built like a tank. I have one and the images it creates are superb, especially with a great lens attached eg. original XF 35mm 1.4 or XF 23mm 1.4. Will never sell it. Also, have an XT-20 and that is a great travel camera and the sensor on that is also quite good, but there is something special about the XTrans 2 sensor of the XT-1.

    Bought the X-T1 and later the X-T2 when they were released. Love them both and will never sell them. I thought about getting the X-T3, but decided against it because it offered no real upgrade on the stills side to the X-T2. I don't do video and have seen some reviewers saying the X-T2 had the same or slightly better image quality. I'm very happy with the small prints I get from them both, and post processing is usually minimal. Great videos! Cheers from a frosty (-14C) western Canada.

    I'm not much of a landscape photographer, more of a portrait guy.
    But my favourite photos have been taken with the X-Trans 2 sensor (in the X-T10) using the XF 35/1.4, which i have printed 30" x 20"
    (These are more of where i was at the time not because of the camera)
    I almost exclusively use my XT-3 now but does it take better photos, 100% yes it does, but I didn't own it when i took the photos with the X-T10.
    If i didn't own the XT-3, I'd still be happy taking photos with the XT-10 (although I wouldn't be doing as much video work)
    I still have the X-T10 with a 7Artisan 55mm F/1.4 on it. It does not get a lot of love these days but is still fun to play with (and keep as a backup)

      My X-T1 sometimes shuts itself off despite a charged battery. But I can't turn it on without removing the battery and putting it back in. The batteries are old, maybe they can't supply enough power to the camera anymore. Other than that, it works perfectly, and the pictures that come out of it... Beautiful.

    its interesting as of now for used
    XT-1 --> 390$usd
    XT-2 ---> 680$usd
    XT-3---> 1,000$usd
    as a backup camera the XT-1 is probably the most bang for the buck...I dont shoot portraits im a product photographer so the Xt-1 is perfect, if your a portrait shooter maybe having the Xt3 as main Xt2 as backup might be better bet

    Nice experiment. Oddly, I can't tell the difference between an image shot on the XT-4 and one shot on the XT-3. ;-)
    But I am tempted, once we return to Indochina, to pick up a secondhand XT-1 and have a play with that as it might be nice to have a different sensor to call on.

    Lovely video, really enjoyed it. I keep an X-T1 around to use for time-lapse and long exposure. I really have only done this because I have ended up with hot/stuck pixels in my Canon Cameras from these long time-lapse and long exposure sessions, so I use the X-T1 to save my X-T3 and X-T4. Do you think this is a legitimate concern?

    I always laugh when people reckon getting a higher MP camera body will make their images sharper. I have a portrait of my wife taken with a 12mp D300s & a 70-200 F4 lens. Her eye is razor sharp. I've sold a D7200 with 24mp because I felt it was an overhyped body. I must say though, my favorite was my D7000 with it's 16mp sensor. I loved that camera, except for it's build quality & it's unreliable AF. Point is, MP only come in to play if you're cropping or printing very large. And yes, I have an A0 print on my wall from the 16mp D7000. I had the privilege of shooting a few shots with an Xt1 & if ever I had to buy a Fuji, it would be that camera. More important is the glass though & I wish I could go back in time to speak to a younger me

    Ironically I'm here to see if it's worth moving to the X-T1 from the X-T3, as I've developed in my photography I've noticed more and more than I tend to soften all my photos in editing. I've heard good things about the older Xtrans II sensor's colors. So was wondering if maybe the X-T1's lower megapixel count might be soft enough to save me time in editing. But after looking at the JPGs in C1, the X-T1 is a touch softer, but not enough to meaningfully move the image closer to the look I want. Thanks for saving me $450, cheers.

Same goes for people photography. I shoot architecture, landscape, nature, seasons, objects. But the content is limited, since i can't fly to xy within the world, so i am usually based on my near surroundings, and the cities near by.

    Hi Matt. It's an old saying, and something i tell so called gearheads always, because they're lusting for the latest and greatest. It's the person behind the lens, hence -camera, not gear. You can from a composition point of view use anything, even a disposable 5 bucks film camera, and create something extraordinary. Not from image quality, of course. I like much the X-Trans I&II Sensor, hence therefore my Fuji's from that generation.

As you said in your closing remarks from a social media point of view then then I would imagine the XT-1 would hold its own. Only when I pixel peeped did I notice some subtle differences in some of the finer details of the image but again printing and viewing from a distance I would probably struggle to see the difference. In the end still a good camera for someone wanting to get their foot in the photography door and start to develop their skills as a photographer
