If he thinks that the universe was designed, then anyone who can design the universe is absolutelly intelligent. If he wants to assess the design of the universe he have to see from the designer's point of view and the universe it self as a whole, not from our point of view as a human. Yes. He's being somewhat sarcastic. But.......if the universe was designed, it's not very efficient or logical in it's structure. It takes too long for anything to happen or doesn't make sense, such as how long it took homo sapiens to evolve, or how the breathing/eating through the same orifice in our bodies causes thousands to die each year, etc. The point he is making, is that there are better ways humans could have been "designed", in accordance with the universe, for better survival.
If the iPhone wasn't designed, then where did it come from? Did it just come into existence completely constructed, or was it designed by man, as a current version of cellular phones by Apple?
