I'm at least as liberal as Jed Bartlet, but that was bullying.

I'm here in July of 2024, right after the Supreme Court has ruled that a president is essentially above the law, and I only wish that our politicians had half the sense of this president. I only hope that we can be saved from ourselves. I don't mean to be so pessimistic, but optimism seems to be in short supply these days.

Wish real presidents sounded like that . . .

An entertaining scene, though not for the reasons you may think. Jed Barrett is usually written intelligently by Sorkin. In this scene, Barrett is seemingly unable to concentrate in the same room as she. (He seems to have become President in spite of a woman unnerving him.) A Ph.D in literature is still a Ph.D, as a former history professor like Jed should know. It’s thoroughly entertaining to watch a seemingly tolerant progressive reveal his true intolerance towards religion, and demonstrate such beautiful ignorance of history and religion. The typical unlearned atheist will love this. Those among us who understand civility just watched a president walk into a room, and insult a woman sitting down, doing absolutely nothing wrong. She literally says not a word until he starts lecturing her. West Wing had usually great writing and stellar production values. This scene shows that Sorkin is tremendously ignorant about what he doesn’t understand or comprehend....the mark of an illiberal mind. (Incidentally, it’s amusing to me to know that progressives will have knives out for Christianity, but we will never see a scene like this directed at Islam, Buddhism, or any other major religion. If you’re irreligious, why do you suppose that is?)
