In a family of 6, (2nd born with 3siblings) I was the anxious one. I didn’t feel threatened but very much unseen. No conversations. No hugs. No emotions. Then divorce of parents with the healthy parent moving out. Mother bringing home sexual predators. Teen years were lonely, sad, and toxic. I spent decades in my adult life trying to fix myself while barely functioning and trying my best to be a single mother. Self help books were my only friends. I finally learned to love myself in my late 30s. I went to college and loved learning and was good at it. That was the beginning of my healing. It’s been a long road. I have definitely struggled with chronic pain that I’m sure were made due to the stress I lived with every day.
thank you so much for sharing your story. It takes so much strength to open up about such painful experiences. I’m so sorry you had to go through so much, especially during your teen years. It’s inspiring to hear how you’ve worked so hard to heal and create a better life for yourself, even while facing such challenges. Going to college and learning to love yourself are such powerful steps forward. Your journey shows so much resilience, and I’m sure it can inspire others who may feel alone in their struggles. Wishing you continued strength, healing, and peace-you truly deserve it. ❤️bless you
Wow, this video hit me so deeply. Dr. Gabor Maté has such a compassionate and eye-opening way of explaining how much our childhood shapes our health and emotions. It’s so true that we often overlook how unresolved pain can affect us for years, even physically. Thank you for sharing such powerful insights-this is exactly the kind of content the world needs right now. Definitely inspired to reflect more on my own journey and start healing. ❤
I have known that my anxiety and so many other qualities I have all stem from my childhood. Mom was great and loving but my father was a tyrant who terrorized us - especially me. I have anxiety and so many other issues, but I keep smiling and try to do my best in life. I wish I could be as strong as my children are. Guess I did something right! Thank you so very much for this video. Dr. Mate does more good than he knows.
